Hello! Y'all can call me Clover, or honestly whatever you want as long as it's nice and I know you're talking to me lol. This will primarily be a kpop sickfic blog, but as of now, I'm new to posting and running a blog and everything, so I'll be keeping it relaxed. I just want a space in which people are not afraid to indulge a little in something that gives them comfort.
(DISCLAIMER: In writing these fics, I am in no way insinuating that the events/opinions expressed by the idols in them are true to life, nor am I wishing them any harm or suffering. I'm merely borrowing their name and some personality traits to help write a story of my own creation. If any person mentioned in these fics is uncomfortable by their inclusion, please contact me and I will remove any connections to you.) (Even though I'm sure no kpop idol will ever read these, it's always better to be safe than sorry lol)
My favorite groups are Ateez, Seventeen, Stray Kids, and TXT! I'm not as familiar with members of other groups but as far as music, I'm also a fan of Lucy, Big Ocean, NCT, CIX, The Rose, &TEAM, BOYNEXTDOOR, OnlyOneOf, and more. I'm always down to talk about kpop, tv shows, etc - or anything you'd like as long as we all stay respectful! Just shoot me an ask <3
I'm very very slow, and new to writing as well, but I will take requests if you guys have them!

Aw thank you! It's so good to hear from you again - I've missed you!! <3 I'm doing all right! I'm sorry to everyone that I've been MIA - things have gotten pretty crazy with school and family these past few months. I hope you're doing well too!! ily and I'm sending sunshine back your way! <3
So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said âdonât follow me if we never even had a conversation beforeâ and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
Iâve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now Iâm wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that itâs totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if weâve never talked before.
Also, Iâm legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like itâs common sense but is that really a thing?
Saw a sharp increase in my follower count after posting this. The legitimacy of it is driving me nuts so I also feel the need to say that you can follow anyone on here regardless of whether youâve interacted with them or not. People like the above mentioned blog are exceptions. Perhaps they themselves think they arenât and therefore will act like they arenât, but they are, trust me.
Just follow anyone you wanna follow. The worst thing that can happen is maybe getting soft-blocked by the other person, but if they do soft-block you, then they were never that worth following in the first place.
lol what is that really some kind of new etiquette fresh users are trying to enforce? No way! There have always been people who prefer to keep their circle small on here and thatâs their prerogative, but itâs definitely not the dominant culture! This is the âfollow someone because they reblogged a cool bird onceâ website! This is how tumblr thrives without being algorithm-driven by default.
clover im literally going to cry - i wanted to wish you Merry Christmas, but your account disappeared from my tabs (i have a bunch of tabs i never clear) and then, no matter how much i searched for it (i even typed your username, and i have zero idea why it didn't show up) i couldn't find your account
stay happy and healthy, clover! i'll check in more frequently from today onwards (and i hope your requests open soon because omg i got into myungho from 8turn and i can't wait to spam you with (very short don't worry) videos, if you're ever interested, to show you how cute and talented he is!!)
Aw I'm so glad to hear from you! I'm sorry, that's so weird about my blog. No worries! I'm sorry life's been tough this past little while. I wish I could do something. Merry Christmas! I've not been bad! The program really helped, and there's family stuff going on and I'm trying to find a steady job but other than that things have been going pretty smoothly.
I hope you stay happy and healthy too! I'll look forward to hearing from you and I can't wait to hear more about whatever you're interested in at the moment!
I missed you so much too! I'll be thinking of you. If you celebrate Christmas, I hope you have a wonderful one, and if not, I hope you have a wonderful rest of December <3
Hello everyone! Long time no see. I'm sorry I was away longer than expected. Things went well, but life got crazy! I've had a hard time motivating myself to write lately, but I really wanted to get at least something out before the end of the year, so here's a small fic for the Jeonghan request. I miss him so much already and he's hardly even started his military service DX I'm really rusty on my writing, but I hope this is okay. I love you guys and I'm excited to hopefully start writing again.
Summary: When Jeonghan doesn't show up to practice and no one can get a hold of him, Scoups goes looking.
TW: fever, mild delirium/confusion, one (1) cough in the whole fic lol
Itâd been a long day. Thatâs all Scoups could think about as he entered the dance practice studio at seven in the evening. Everything had gone wrong that day - not anything disastrous, just all the little things that tended to build up. From the members getting into more squabbles than usual to schedules being switched around or added at the very last minute, or managers calling in sick so Scoups had to rearrange schedules and urgent group transportation by himself. Scoups felt a little embarrassed for being so grumpy. It just sometimes felt like the world ending might be a little more fun than these kinds of days.Â
But the show must go on, unfortunately for Seventeen. So when the members straggled in one by one, later and grumpier than usual to practice, he just took it in his stride. That is, until he takes a head count and finds the group one person short, nearly forty five minutes after practice was supposed to start.Â
âWho are we missing?â Scoups sighed, massaging his temples. Everyone looked around - having a thirteen person group made it surprisingly difficult sometimes to keep track.
âHyung, I think Jeonghan-hyung is missing. I havenât seen him today at all.â Seungkwan calls out from where he stands near the door, iced americano in hand. Great. Just great.Â
âDoes anyone know where he is? Has anyone been in contact with him today?â Scoups asked. All he got in response was shaking heads. Scoups pulled out his phone, checking his messages with the vocalist. Nothing since last night. Suppressing a frustrated groan, he gives Jeonghan a call. And⊠nothing. He tried a couple more times. Still, just ringing until the robot voice started asking for voicemail. This didnât seem quite right. Swallowing back the rising concern, Scoups addressed the group.Â
âI canât get a hold of him. Dino, you know the choreography, right?â Scoups pointed at the dancer, who nodded, walking up to the front of the group. Scoups grabbed his bag, slinging it over his shoulder. âIâm gonna go get Jeonghan. Iâll be back. Just practice, and for the love of god, donât fight!â The last part was practically pleading as he walked out of the door, leaving the members concerned and grumpy to deal with it themselves.Â
The commute to Jeonghanâs dorm he shares with Seungkwan was short, but tense. Itâs not like Jeonghan to just not show up to a schedule. Even if he was sick, he either came anyway (much to the leaderâs chagrin) or let him and the managers know beforehand.Â
Softly at first, Scoups knocked on the front door. âHannie? Itâs Coups.â No response. He knocked harder. âHannie? Are you in there? Why didnât you come to practice?â Still nothing. Scoups practically pounded on the door. âHannie? Youâre worrying me, please answer!â
Then, something. The faint sound of rustling from inside the house, the sound of heavy, trudging footsteps. The door opened slowly to reveal Jeonghan. He was wearing a large pajama shirt and pants, but the fabric clung to his frame like it was wet. So did his hair, shiny with what must have been sweat, strands sticking to his flushed skin. His gaze, hazy and unfocused, landed somewhere around Scoupsâ face. When he spoke, his voice came out hoarse and quiet.
âCoups-ya?â Jeonghan hardly got the name out before he tipped forward, his legs crumpling beneath him. With a panicked gasp, Scoups managed to get his arms under Jeonghanâs, staggering slightly under the sudden weight.Â
âHannie? Hannie?â Scoupsâ voice shook as he shook the vocalist softly, trying to get a response out of him. He groaned in worry and frustration, half-carrying and half-dragging Jeonghan inside to lay on the couch. He shook Jeonghanâs shoulders.Â
âHannie? Hannie, can you hear me?â Scoups called. He patted the manâs cheek, only to be startled by the sheer heat radiating off of his skin. Hurriedly, he palmed Jeonghanâs forehead. He was burning up. âShit. Come on, HannieâŠâÂ
âNghâŠâ Jeonghan groaned softly. His eyes remained closed, but Scoups relaxed slightly.Â
âHannieâŠâ Scoups sighed, brows knitted together in concern. Okay, okay. What now? Itâs definitely a fever, and a high one. Whether it was high enough to go to the hospital was another question. Scoups got up, searching drawers for a thermometer. He called Seungkwan while he was at it, trying to tamp down the slight panic he was feeling. No need to worry the members when he wasnât even sure what was going on yet. Seungkwan picked up on the third ring, sounding out of breath. Well, at least they were practicing, Scoups tried to tell himself.
âHyung? Whatâs going on? Did you find Jeonghan-hyung?â Seungkwan asked all at once, panting.Â
âI did. Iâll tell you more later, but I need to know where you keep your thermometer.â Scoups said as he rummaged through another drawer.Â
âThermometer? Is Jeonghan-hyung sick? Do you need help?â Seungkwan asked.Â
âKwannie. The thermometer. Where is it?â
âBathroom cupboard, above the toilet, left side in a blue case. Is everything okay, hyung?â Seungkwan insisted, concern evident in his tone. Scoups immediately hurried to the bathroom, quickly finding the thermometer.
âIâm sorry, Kwannie. Iâm kind of busy right now. Donât worry, Iâve got things handled. Hannieâs got a fever. Donât come home yet, and tell everyone else to stay away for now too, I donât want anyone else to get sick.â As he spoke, Scoups cleaned off the thermometer before hurrying back to the couch and gently sticking it under the sick manâs tongue. âIâll call if I need help, okay? You guys just focus on practice for now - weâve got to have that dance memorized by Friday anyways.â
âOkayâŠâ Seungkwan relented. Scoups could just about see his reluctant frown over the phone. âWeâll be here if you need us. Please call if you need anything.â
âMm. Thanks, Seungkwan-ah.â Scoups hung up, then took Jeonghanâs hand as he waited for the familiar beep of the thermometer. When it finally came, he took the thermometer out of Jeonghanâs mouth to read it.Â
âOh Hannie⊠39.6 is not good.â Scoups bit his lip, tossing the thermometer on the table. He gave Jeonghanâs hand a squeeze before gathering supplies. New pajamas, a pillow and light blanket from Jeonghanâs bedroom, a bowl of cold water and a cloth, fever reducers, and a water bottle.Â
Jeonghan seemed somewhere between asleep and awake. He shivered, making small noises of complaint and blinking slowly up at Scoups as he gently helped him out of the sweat-soaked pajamas and into clean ones.Â
âCoups-yaâŠâ Jeonghan mumbled as Scoups sponged his forehead with a cool washcloth. âWhy are you here?âÂ
âAre you more awake now?â Scoups asked, immediately perking up at the sound of a slightly more aware Jeonghan. He sighed, running his hands through his hair in worry. âWhy didnât you say anything? Youâre really sick, Hannie. You should have told Seungkwan this morning or messaged me or one of the members.â
Jeonghan squinted, brows furrowed in confusion. He blinked hard as if trying to clear his vision. âBut Coups-ya, I didâŠ. I messaged youâŠâ He reached for his phone, which Scoups had retrieved earlier and put on the coffee table next to the couch. Fumbling with shaky hands, Jeonghan turned it on and put it in Scoupsâ lap before curling back up underneath the blanket, shivering. âSee?â
Scoups was confused. He never got any messages, and the members would have said something, right? Was there something wrong with his phone? But all these questions running through his mind were stopped once he saw what Jeonghan was trying to show him. It seems that in his delirium, Jeonghan mistook the notes app for the messaging app. There are almost twenty messages written on a file in the notes app, all of them increasingly worried and hurt, thinking he was being ignored.Â
Scoups stared at the phone, confusion giving way to disbelief. âYouâve been⊠trying to send me notes? Like this? In the notes app?â He scrolled through all the different messages, his heart aching for the anxiety and sadness in each message. Jeonghan must have been lonely, suffering by himself and seemingly being ignored.Â
âJeonghan-ahâŠâ Scoups was lost for words, filled with pity for the vocalist. He sighed, setting the phone back down on the coffee table. He tucked the blanket around Jeonghanâs shivering form. âJust rest now, okay? Iâm here now.â
Jeonghan seemed a little resistant, feverishly emotional. âI messaged you, I did⊠Iâm sorryâŠâ
Scoups smiled sadly. âI know, I know. Donât worry. You really think I would ever ignore you on purpose? DummyâŠâÂ
Jeonghan must have been feeling very sensitive, and tears almost immediately welled up in his eyes. âIâm sorry⊠I know Iâm a dummyâŠâ
âOh, no, Hannie, Iâm sorry. I didnât mean it like thatâŠâ Scoups panicked, caught off guard. He squeezed Jeonghanâs arms, guiding him to relax. âIâm just worried, thatâs all.â
Jeonghan suddenly coughed, the raspy, dry sound forcing its way out. Scoups quickly helped him sit up in hopes of making it easier to breathe.Â
âCan you drink a little for me?â He asked once Jeonghan managed to stop coughing. The sick man nodded weakly in response. Scoups opened the water bottle and carefully tipped it back into Jeonghanâs mouth. He took a few sips, wincing, then he was done. With Jeonghanâs upper body draped over his shoulder, Scoups reached for an extra pillow or two from the chair beside the couch. He fluffed it up, then gently arranged Jeonghan in the middle of them all, propped up as comfortably as possible. But as Scoups leaned away from him, Jeonghan grabbed his arm.Â
âWhat is it?â Scoups asked. But Jeonghanâs eyes were half closed, and he just made a pitiful whine as he weakly tugged Scoups back towards him.Â
âYou want a hug?â Scoups smiled sadly. âNo problem. Come here.â He carefully got on the couch to avoid jostling Jeonghan too much. Gingerly, he wrapped Jeonghan into a hug, one hand holding Jeonghanâs head close to his chest.Â
Immediately, Jeonghan relaxed a little, tears of relief leaking out of his closed eyes. As they dampened Scoupsâ shirt, the leader frowned at the sensation. He held Jeonghan closer, rocking back and forth slightly.Â
âYouâre really sick, huh?â Scoups whispered, the air from his voice ruffling Jeonghanâs hair ever so slightly. As they cuddled, he only murmured soft words of comfort every now and then, when Jeonghan shivered or moaned softly. It wasnât too long before Jeonghan fell asleep, his head nuzzled in the crook of Scoupsâ neck. Scoups tensed up, refusing to move in fear of disturbing the sick vocalistâs peace.Â
After a few hours, Jeonghanâs fever finally broke. He slept fitfully, but never woke completely, even as his fever flushed skin lost its sickly pink sheen. Eventually, he opened his eyes, relaxed at first by the embrace, but quickly disoriented.Â
âCoups? WhatâŠ?â Jeonghan mumbled, squinting up at the leader.Â
âGood morning, Hannie. Youâre awake?â Scoups sighed in relief. âYou scared me, you know. Youâve been pretty sick. How are you feeling?âÂ
Jeonghan groaned softly as he reluctantly extricated himself from Scoupsâ embrace. The cool air sent goosebumps across his skin, slightly clammy from the aftermath of a fever. But once he got a look at Scoupsâ shirt, practically soaked from his sweat and tears, he immediately sat up straight, feeling sheepish. âIâm sorry, Iâve ruined your shirtâŠâ
Scoups glanced down but quickly waved it off. âItâs fine. Just needs a wash is all. Donât apologize, youâve been really out of it.â
âAhâŠâ Jeonghan groaned, rubbing his eyes with the heel of his palm. âI canât remember. Uh⊠I remember waking up sick and messaging you, but after that⊠When did you get here? How long has it been?â
Scoups let out a small huff of laughter, confusing Jeonghan. Immediately, Scoups felt guilty and sad. It truly was awful to think of Jeonghan feverish and alone, but now that he was better, the humor of the situation took the front seat.Â
âWhat? What happened?â Jeonghan said, looking up to watch the leader laugh.
âAh.. I really shouldnât be laughing.â Scoups sighed. âItâs terrible, really. But now itâs over, I have to be honest, itâs a little funny.â He gestured for Jeonghan to hand him his phone. âHand me your phone, Iâll show you.â
Jeonghan obeyed, brow furrowed in confusion. âWhat is it?â
Scoups opened the notes app, showing the âmessagesâ to Jeonghan. Jeonghanâs eyes widened, and he grabbed the phone, immediately scrolling through all the messages before groaning, burying his face in his hands.Â
âWow⊠I really thought I was using the messaging app. SeriouslyâŠâ Jeonghan groaned, but he couldnât help laughing a little too.Â
Seeing Jeonghan laugh at the situation, Scoups thought his smile could have outshone the sun. He joined in on the laughter too, part relief, part genuine humor.Â
âYou wonât tell the members, will you?â Jeonghan whined, though Scoups could see a gleam of mischief in his eyes. âIâll never live it down.â
âHmmm⊠weâll see about that.â Scoups smirked, and Jeonghan smiled.Â

Hey there I hope you get okay soon, I'm the anon who requested the Beomgyu sickfic and also don't mind waiting for some time more.
Thank you for the well wishes! Youâre so sweet <3 Thank you for waiting so patiently and being willing to wait some more - Iâll keep it on my list! Ily anon!
Hey guys! This is not a new fic, but it was recently brought to my attention that Tumblr can be very finicky if you use accessibility technology like a screen reader. I was told that Wattpad is much better in this regard, so from now on Iâll be posting my fics both here on this blog and on my new account there. Iâll still be on hiatus for a few months, but copy/pasting my fics over isnât too bad so Iâll plan on putting up some of my released fics on that platform in the meantime. Love you all!Â
I'm the anon who requested Jeonghan fic. Actually I waited for too long now and I don't mind waiting more longer. I am sorry you are feeling like that. So please take your time and come back. We will be waiting. Again please put yourself first <3
Thank you for letting me know! I'll keep it on my list. Thank you for being so sweet and understanding <3 I'm so grateful, honestly <3

Ateez is behind. Like way behind. So when everyone and their mother is exhausted and overworked, Jongho doesn't even stop to think his own symptoms might be sickness - until filming Wanteez goes horribly wrong.
This is such a headache, was all Jongho could think. In more ways than one. Besides the real headache he had woken up with along with horrible nausea that left him stranded in the bathroom for an hour before everyone else woke up, Ateez was sitting in a stuffy meeting room, and Hongjoong was arguing with their manager about their comeback schedule.
âIâm telling you, hyung, itâs too much. Itâs impossible to get everything done before the comeback date. Weâre already crunched as it is, we have to push it back.â Hongjoong argued, standing up from his chair.Â
âIâm aware this is a little tight. But Iâm sure all you have to do is pick up the pace a little and itâll be fine.â Their manager pressed, massaging his temples.
âA little tight?â Seonghwa interrupted. âHyung, this pace. Itâs inhuman.â
âThe CEO seems to think itâs fine.â The manager said, splaying his hands as if to say it wasnât up to him.
âWell, the CEO isnât the one writing and producing songs, choreographing, practicing, performing, and shooting videos, hyung, so I donât think his opinion matters.â Hongjoong snapped.
The manager threw his hands up in the air as Hongjoong argued. Jongho sighed, burying his face in his hands.
A few hours later, Ateez was on their way to dance practice. Jongho sat in the back of the van, trying to calm his frenzied stomach. The rest of Ateez all looked stressed and exhausted, most of them falling asleep in their seats. Ever since there had been a mix-up with some bookings that set Ateezâs schedule behind by nearly three weeks, they had been playing a game of catch-up. Now, with the comeback date that they were already dreading being pushed up even earlier than they were initially told, they were starting to panic. Hongjoong especially.Â
Jongho swallowed. His stomach was really not letting up. He was starting to get that peculiar nausea-induced ache underneath his jaw. He closed his eyes, breathing in, and out. In, and out. Just let it pass. Once he got some rest, he was sure it would go away. Please, let it go away.
The van pulled up to the dance studio and the members began to extract themselves from their comfy seats. As Jongho stepped out, he squinted. It was so damn bright out⊠Suddenly his knee buckled and he stumbled a little. He reached out for something to grab, and found Yeosangâs hand out to help him. He straightened up, feeling a little strange, a little lightheaded. His head⊠things were a little blurry. His stomach jumped to his throat, and Jongho brought a hand up to his mouth in reflex.
âJongho-ya, are you okay?â Yeosang asked. Jongho swallowed hard, forcing the nausea to take a backseat. He shook his head, trying to clear that strange feeling.
âIâm fine, hyung, thanks. Just tripped.â Jongho waved it off. He just needed another hour of sleep, that was all. But so did everybody else. Yeosang raised an eyebrow, but didnât argue. He himself was so tired he could hardly think.Â
Ateez filed into the room, but Jongho froze in the doorway as intense nausea washed over him. Shit. Shit. His stomach clenched, twisting in his abdomen.
âJongho-ya, get a move on,â Mingi urged, his tone irritated. Jongho glanced at the members, swallowing past a lump in his throat.Â
âIâll be back.â He said before leaving as quickly as one could possibly do without running. He could practically hear Mingi roll his eyes, but no one followed. Warm saliva began to pool under Jonghoâs tongue, and he broke into a run.Â
Finally, he found a bathroom, and he ducked into a stall just in time to get his head over a toilet bowl. He spewed, his partially digested breakfast coming up in waves. He dropped to his knees, leaning on his elbows as he gagged above the murky waters. His eyes began to tear up with the exertion, but eventually it slowed and he was able to sit back and catch his breath.Â
âUghâŠâ Jongho groaned. He let himself rest for a minute - well, if you could call it rest - on the dingy bathroom floor before he made himself get up. He freshened up a bit in the bathroom before returning. Everyone looked exhausted and irritable. The choreographer all but glared at him.Â
âFinally.â Wooyoung sighed, getting up from where he was sitting with his legs splayed out on the floor. Hongjoong shot him a look for being rude, but it was tinged by his exhaustion and didnât have much impact. Jongho sheepishly took his spot, and they began dancing.
This session was intense. It would have been intense on a good day, and today was not a good day in any sense. Between everyone being exhausted overall from playing catch up, the irritability and emotions stemming from said exhaustion, and the overall sense of grief as they resigned themselves to the fact that they wouldnât be sleeping until this comeback was over, not one member was doing well. The choreographer didnât seem to care - his job was to teach the dance and make them memorize it, and that day he did not want to do anything more than that. As the members continued to fumble and forget, the choreographer was increasingly hard on them. Especially Jongho, whose mind was mostly focused on not focusing on the headache and nausea that plagued him. After the third bathroom break where he brought up more of his half digested breakfast, the choreographer snapped.
âJongho-ssi, what is your problem?â The choreographer stopped the music, turning around to point at him. âI know you can do well. If you arenât here to work, go home! We canât be falling behind because of you.â Jongho panted, falling out of step. He stood with his head down as the choreographer scolded him.Â
âYes, sir. Iâm sorry.â He said, breathless. âIâll try harder.â He didnât even want to bother with an explanation. They were all dealing with exhaustion - it would only sound like an excuse.
âDonât try, do!â The choreographer huffed. Jongho looked out of the corner of his eye at the other members. Nobody wanted to make eye contact with him or the choreographer. Hongjoong just leaned against the mirror, massaging his temples with his eyes closed.
It was much the same for the rest of the day. Everyone was catching catnaps when they could. Hongjoong came to him after the dance practice to ask if he was okay, but the dark bags under his eyes and the way he seemed to move in slow motion made Jongho feel too guilty to bring up any of his own struggles. He could manage, and that's what mattered. No need to worry the leader with the same shit everybody was dealing with.Â
So, the day ended with an air of irritability, and Ateez retired to their rooms. The next day they were due for an early filming session for Wanteez. Hongjoong weakly commanded everyone to get some rest when they arrived home, but no one needed any convincing. Even Wooyoung, who was usually still bouncing off the walls by the end of the day, went to bed with no complaints.Â
Jongho wanted nothing more than to get a few hours of blissful rest. But it was not meant to be, and he spent most of the night in the bathroom hanging over the toilet bowl. Thankfully, no one saw him as they were all exhausted enough to sleep without interruption. But he couldnât help but feel hopeless, sitting there in the dim light of his phoneâs flashlight on the cold tile floor. He felt so awful. His head hurt like hell. The nausea was nonstop even though he must have cleared his system twice over. He was so exhausted that his eyes kept sliding shut while he was heaving. He just wanted to stop trying. To let one of his hyungs baby him for once. To not be strong and capable. He cried there, quietly. His tears silently joined the contents of his stomach in that ceramic bowl.Â
âJongho!â Hongjoongâs voice jolted the vocalist awake.
Jongho forced his eyes open, squinting. The leader was standing by his bed, hands on his hips, and the bedroom door was open. The light from the window and the hallway behind him was so bright. It hurt even with his eyes closed.
âJongho, what time is this? Why are you still in bed? We have to be at the filming location in half an hour!â Hongjoongâs tone wasnât one of sincere curiosity, but of indignation. Jongho was too exhausted to argue, instead pulling himself out of bed with a mumbled apology. Hongjoong huffed.Â
âWhy canât you put in the effort like your hyungs are? Weâre all in the van waiting for you. Get out fast.â
âOkay. Sorry, hyung.â Jongho murmured, gripping his stomach. Hongjoong softened ever so slightly. Slightly being the operative word, however.Â
âJust⊠hurry, please. We canât afford to lose any more time.â With that, Hongjoong left. Jongho was alone.Â
Everything hurt. His head. His stomach. His eyes. Just sitting up and facing that hallway light - which was normally actually a bit dim - made his stomach turn and his eyes water. But Hongjoong was right. They had to keep going. So Jongho staggered to his closet, where he opted for a black hoodie and jeans. He got ready as quickly as he could, and he only threw up once. But after he was done heaving over the bedroom trash can, he brushed his teeth and joined the rest of the members in the van.
It was safe to say Jongho was on no oneâs good side. Not only was he the cause of them being late to yet another thing, but his frankly impressive skill at masking his symptoms only made it look like he was being careless. Only a few members dozed off during the short commute, but the car ride was silent nonetheless.Â
The members arrived at the filming location, quickly unloading and getting their makeup done as fast as possible. Jongho wanted nothing but to lay down on the sidewalk as soon as he stood up, but he forced himself to move faster. He didnât want them to be any more mad than they already were.Â
This episodeâs theme was hide and seek. They drew straws to decide on a pair to search for the remaining members - Yunho and Yeosang were picked to seek. There are three rounds - the hiding members are required to change their spot each round. If you are caught, you are given a bracelet with bells on it to wear until the end of the game and released back into the studio to hide again - this time with the disadvantage of making noise every time you move. Those who make it through all three rounds without being caught are given a prize. If no one makes it through without being given a bracelet, the members who were seeking win.
There were cameras set up throughout the studio and everyone was given go-pros so the members didnât have to worry about hiding a crew member with them. Jongho was exhausted, but still felt a little proud when he made it through two rounds without being caught. He spent most of his time in hiding just trying to keep composure for the camera despite serious stomach cramps, roiling nausea in the pit of his stomach, and a neck so stiff and painful he could only look straight ahead. In the third round, he was finally caught.Â
âAh! We see your arm!â Yeosang called out gleefully when he spotted Jonghoâs elbow peeking out from underneath the staircase.Â
âCome on out, youâve lost!â Yunho added as they hurried down the stairs to catch him. Jongho groaned. Shakily, he stood with one hand on the wall supporting him. His vision was blurry. Everything seemed⊠far away somehow. This was not right. He staggered out from underneath the staircase.Â
âJongho-ya, we got you, come on!â Yunho celebrated, jingling a bell bracelet in front of his face. But then Yeosang and Yunho noticed Jongho did not look right at all. His cheeks were flushed, his hair, skin and clothes were saturated with sweat. When he looked up at them, his eyes seemed glazed over.Â
âJongho. Are you okay?â Yeosang asked, the victorious smile instantly melting off his face. Jongho wanted to answer. He wanted to say something. But his brain was moving so, so slowly. Had he been here before? The scene before him seemed so familiar. His knees buckled, and he slid down the wall beside him, head hanging.Â
âJongho?â Yunho sounded even more alarmed. Jongho could vaguely hear the sound of them hurrying over to him.Â
âHyung, he doesnât look okay. Heâs as white as a ghost.â Yeosangâs voice shook. âJongho-ya? Talk to me.â
Yeosang and Yunho shared a scared look. The maknae was definitely not okay. There was literally sweat dripping from his nose and bangs, and he couldnât seem to focus on them. Yeosang patted his chest and shoulders, trying to get his attention.
âHeâs burning up!â Yunho exclaimed when he palmed his forehead. âWhatâs wrong with him?â This news came as a surprise to Jongho, who didnât even realize he had a fever.
âJongho-ya, look at me.â Yeosang begged, shaking him by the shoulders. Jongho could only limply allow him to do so.Â
âHyung⊠I canât⊠Help me, pleaseâŠâ is all he could manage in his half-conscious state. His stomach suddenly twisted, and Jongho threw up. But without the energy to move or even gag, it just sort of bubbled out of him, dripping down his chin.Â
âHelp!â Yunho called, trying not to cry. Heâd never seen anyone so sick, let alone their own precious maknae. There was the faint sound of a response as the members and staff hurried over.Â
âWhat is it?â Hongjoong asked as he ran in a panic, but stopped short when he saw the scene before him. âJongho!â Guilt instantly flooded throughout him as he realized Jongho must not have been right all day.Â
âHe can hardly talk, he canât move. Hyung, please, you have to call 119.â Yeosang said, tears freely flowing down his face.
âUh, hyung?â Yunho called out, sounding terrified. Jongho was fully unconscious now, and his limbs flailed as he started to seize. Everyone looked to him and they could only watch his shaking form as his back arched off the floor. Hongjoong hurried to his side, not sure what to do but knowing he wanted to do something to help.
One of the staff members was on the phone with emergency services, and her voice shook a bit as she relayed the scene before her. A few moments passed as she listened to the operator, and she started calling out orders.Â
âLoosen anything around his neck, and get that camera off of him!â She called, then listened some more as she watched Hongjoong and Seonghwa follow her instructions. âTurn him on his side so he doesnât choke on his vomit.âÂ
They did so, and for a few scary moments, he kept seizing. But finally, his tense body started to relax, and soon he was still. It was quiet except for the sniffles from crying members. Hongjoong and Seonghwa waited by his side on the floor with bated breath.
âNghâŠâ A small groan was all it was, but for the members it was enough.Â
âJongho! Jongho, can you hear me?â Hongjoongâs voice broke. âSay something if you can.â
âHyung?â Jongho mumbled. He was still motionless except for his eyes, which he strained to open and look over his shoulder.
âYes, Jongho, itâs me.â Hongjoong couldnât say any more before he started to sob.
âEveryoneâs here. How do you feel?â Seonghwa managed, carding his fingers through Jonghoâs sweaty hair as he looked around dazed and confused.Â
Jongho didnât respond in words, as his stomach answered for him. He gagged weakly, bile dripping out of his open mouth and onto the hardwood floor. He just whimpered, and it broke Seonghwaâs heart to witness him so vulnerable and miserable.
âIâm so sorry..â Hongjoong cried. âI should have realizedâŠâ
âWe all should have realized.â Seonghwa said, scooting closer to Jongho.
â...âm so tiredâŠâ Jongho mumbled, still confused. âHyung, whatâŠâ
âYouâve got to stay awake, Jongho-ya. Just for a little. The paramedics are on their way, okay?â Hongjoong sniffed, wiping his nose with the back of his hand.
âBut âm⊠tiredâŠâ Jonghoâs eyes began to slide closed.Â
âNo, you have to stay awake!â Seonghwa shook Jongho, slapping his cheeks as well. But it had no effect. Jongo drifted off into sleep. Only this sleep was still and.. wrong somehow. It was a sickly sort of sleep.Â
âJongho-ya⊠wake up, please.â Yeosang begged from the sideline, not daring to move as though it would hurt the singer. But Jongho did not respond. Hongjoong quickly found his pulse and watched for the soft rise and fall of working lungs.Â
âHeâs breathing, and he has a pulse. Heâs unconscious.â At these words, a few sobs came from the crowd surrounding them. San clung to Wooyoung and Mingi buried his face into Yunhoâs chest. Hongjoong tried to pull himself together. He was the leader, and they needed a leader now more than ever. He rubbed Seonghwaâs back as they sat helplessly waiting for the paramedics to arrive. All he could do was hope and pray Jongho would be okay.Â
âTheyâre here!â A staff member called out as the paramedics burst through the door. Everyone stood back as they did their work to get him onto a stretcher and into the back of the ambulance.Â
âAnyone riding with us?â One paramedic asked. Hongjoong raised his hand immediately, and the rest of the members didnât want to argue. Instead they started loading into the van to follow the leader and maknae to the hospital.Â
The back of the ambulance was tense and quiet as they rushed to the hospital. Jongho didnât wake up, and Hongjoong could do nothing but hold his hand. When they arrived, Ateez was mere seconds behind. The members all watched the ambulance unload their precious cargo and wheel him inside. They followed anxiously, but were forced to stay back when Jongho crossed a set of doors inside. Hongjoong collapsed onto one of the waiting room chairs, his head in his hands.Â
âHeâs gonna be okay, right?â San didnât ask anyone in particular, his voice small and uncertain. Yunho just gathered him into a hug.
âItâs my fault.â Hongjoongâs voice broke again. âHe wasnât acting right, I knew it. I was too wrapped up in everything else. Iâve failed him.â
âYou didnât fail him.â Seonghwa said, sitting next to the leader. âWe were all too wrapped up in our own problems, and he was good at pretending he was okay. Itâs no oneâs fault..â
âI should have been betterâŠâ Hongjoong insisted. His shoulders shook as he broke down, small whimpers escaping every now and then. Seonghwa just rubbed his back, as silent as the rest of the group.Â
No one knew how much longer it was until a doctor finally came back. They waited with bated breath for him to speak.
âWell, Iâd like to preface this and say that your friend is stable. You brought him here just in time, and heâs sleeping now.â The doctor said. Everyone in the room let out a breath they didnât know they were holding.Â
âThank you, doctor. Thank youâŠâ Hongjoong bowed over and over. The doctor reached out a hand to stop him.
âOf course. Itâs my job. Now, Iâd like to walk you through the treatment. Heâll be here for a while. He has whatâs called viral cerebral meningitis. The virus itself is contagious, and usually causes the kind of sickness that might cause you to call off a day of work. But in your friendâs case, it caused inflammation of the layers around his brain and spinal cord. Unfortunately, thereâs not much we can do for him to cure it - we can try antiviral medications, but for the most part treatment just consists of helping him manage the symptoms until he naturally recovers. Itâs very unusual for a healthy young man like him. Iâve heard your group is under quite a bit of stress lately. I think the combination of stress and a lot of plain old bad luck was what caused this to happen. The good news here is that this will pass, and the likelihood of long-term complications is pretty low for a young man like him. But it will take some time.â
Everyone nodded vigorously. It was such a relief to hear their maknae would be okay.Â
âCan we see him?â Seonghwa asked.
âOf course. Just make sure to be quiet and let your friend sleep for as long as he needs. Itâll help him recover faster.â The doctor said. âHeâs in room 234. Feel free to stay with him.â
After thanking the doctor profusely, Ateez filed quietly into the hospital room. Jongho was looking much better. He had some healthy color now, and was sleeping peacefully. Ateez found various nooks and crannies around the room to settle into while they waited for him to wake up. Some members piled onto the couch in the corner. Others found places near Jonghoâs bed. A couple sat on the windowsill. Hongjoong held Jonghoâs hand from his seat in the chair next to Jonghoâs bed the whole time, except for when he stepped outside to call his manager. They would be canceling the comeback for the time being - no exceptions.Â
A couple of hours later, Jongho stirred. He mumbled something unintelligible, and Ateez surrounded him in an instant. They watched anxiously as he woke.Â
The first thing Jongho felt was⊠rested. Finally. He couldnât remember the last time he had slept so deeply. He almost didnât want to open his eyes and instead just basked in that state between asleep and awake. But all too soon, the memories of the day came flooding back to him. Feeling sick and stressed. Filming Wanteez. The last thing he remembered was Yeosang and Yunho looking terrified. So he dragged his eyes open to see⊠a hospital room?
âJongho. Youâre awake.â Hongjoong sounded emotional. Why was he in a hospital room?Â
âHyung?â Jongho managed past the stickiness of sleep.
âYeah, itâs me. Everyone is here, Jongho-ya. Are you feeling okay?â Hongjoong asked. Jongho looked around the room, meeting each memberâs teary eyes individually.Â
âOh. Iâm achy, I guess. But I slept so well. Why is everyone crying?â Jongho asked. Seonghwa couldnât help but let out a relieved huff of laughter.Â
âWe were so worried. Do you remember getting sick?â Seonghwa asked.Â
âI remember seeing Yunho-hyung and Yeosang-hyung. When they found me.â Jongho squinted, trying to remember. âBut thatâs all.â
âYou had a seizure. You were really, really sick, Jongho-ya. You scared us to death. Why didnât you say you werenât feeling well?â Seonghwa reached out to pat Jonghoâs thigh.Â
âI thought it was just exhaustion. No one was feeling well, hyung.â Jongho explained. But now that his head was clearer - and now that he had the advantage of hindsight - he could see it wasnât just exhaustion. âIâm sorry. I didnât mean for this to happen.â
i'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time, I'll be waiting until you feel better, I follow you since a year ago I think, and I don't mind waiting for a bit more, I'm the anon who requested the Taehyun fic so, as I said, I'll be waiting! you've got this!!
Thank you! You're so sweet <3 Thank you for following me for so long and being so kind as to wait a little more. I really, really appreciate it, more than you know <3 Thanks for letting me know! I'll keep it on my list. Love you, anon!
Hey y'all! I hope you are all happy and healthy <3 I've got an update to give you. First of all, the next fic is the Jongho fic and will be posted sometime tonight! So stay tuned - I hope you enjoy it!
Second of all, that fic will be the last for a while. I don't want to put everything out there on the internet, but long story short is I'll be putting this blog on a hiatus in order to participate in a 12-week(ish) intensive therapy program. Don't worry, I'm doing fine, it's just intensive because it's the only way it really works. However, that does mean I'll have much less time to work on writing. I love this blog and I love writing for you guys, but between this program, fall semester, work, family, and the ongoing effort to not burn out lol, this blog is just going to be a little too much.
But don't worry! It won't be forever. After this program ends, I'll be able to come back - hopefully feeling a bit more motivated. I do need to ask my followers a favor, though.
I realize that I am a very slow writer, and in a couple months, there will officially be requests that will have been sitting in my to-do list for a year. I sincerely apologize to everyone who has been waiting that long. That said, I'm not sure how many of you have stuck around through all that time, which is why I'd like to ask everyone who has a request sitting in that pinned post to send me an anon and let me know you're still waiting.
I ask this because I'd like to know which requests to prioritize and which ones I can take off the list. A clean slate will be good to come back to after my hiatus and this way I won't be spending time on a fic that no one is waiting for. If I don't hear back from the requester in a week after I post this, I'll take the request off of the list.
Thank you all, especially those that have been sticking through this with me since the beginning! This blog's one-year anniversary is coming up next month, which is crazy to me! I appreciate every bit of feedback and interaction I get from you guys. I love you all!! I'll see you tonight with that Jongho fic. Stay happy and healthy out there!
clover my semester break starts today!!! i'll still be super busy as we're assigned three separate assignments to work on in a month, but at least im free for now :') i'm sorry i broke my promise about replying by that night or something, i got super tired after finishing both assignments, and was stressed out after more assignments were assigned đ„ș
now that im on sem break i promise promise promise that i'll come on here more often!! i'll also reply to everything later!!!
also i didn't tell you yet but i read the donghyuk fic and i loved it omg đ„ș thank you so so so so so much really đ it's jjongdong and it just hit so hard because (im not trying to sound selfish but it felt so personalized) and i felt like i had to pay you or something for it đ but i loved it!!! really!!! i wish i could do the "which part i loved" i used to do... i'll try!! on days or nights where i'm not working on assignments or attending meetings, i'll try!!!
finally, how have you been clover? i'm sending lots of sunshine your way!!!
PS which fic is coming out next? im so curious!!
+ i'll reply to what i left out later okay!!! love u clover
YAY FOR SEMESTER BREAK!! That sucks that you were assigned stuff over your break (which in my book makes it not a break like why assign stuff?? the whole point of a break is to not do school??) No worries about not replying that night - I figured you were busy! I'm sorry you were so stressed and tired. I'm cheering you on over on this side of the screen!!
I'd love that! I always enjoy hearing from you!!
Aww thank you! That means a lot!! Don't feel like you have to if it's just a hassle - it's good to know you like it either way <3
I've been good! I'm still in the middle of my summer semester - although I did get through one of my classes really quickly so I have a final to take tomorrow and a lot of cramming to do XD But after that it should be a little bit more chill! I'll only have a few credits worth of classes to do along with my work, so I should have more free time.
Speaking of free time, I took some today (when really I should have been studying for that final.... eh that's future clover's problem XD) and I finally got to get back into drawing again! I've been doing graphic design stuff for work - which I enjoy, but just isn't the same. I spent way too much money on some alcohol markers to try and I am so happy with the way everything has come out so far! Do you like to draw, jjongdong?
What about you? Other than finishing your semester, what have you been up to? I'm sending lots of sunshine your way too!! <3<3
As a very tentative plan, the next fic to come out is going to be the Jongho fic. That or the Xion Oneus/Onewe twin fic (btw if the anon who requested that one reads this... I'm SO sorry! it's a bit intimidating and I feel so bad I haven't gotten it out for you yet. I will try to get it out in the next couple of months if you're still around to read it!)
love u too! i'm looking forward to hearing from you more!! <3
Hey jjongdong! I'm not sure you'll see this but if you do, just know I hope you're doing okay! Absolutely no pressure to check in if you're not feeling like it. I just know you said you'd send in another ask the same day and I haven't heard from you for a while. Hope things are okay and your break is going well! Love you sm!

thanks for believing in me, I'm so nervous but probably I'll make it
and it's nice that you're at your grandma's house, it's nice to visit them, I'm seeing my grandma on tuesday!! she wants to go out and eat lunch with me as a gift for my high school graduation ;)

Both of those sound cool! But lawyer does have a nice ring to it, doesnât it haha
ohhh, I see. Well thatâs nice! It would be so fun to go to college alongside your friends. I went to a different college than most of my friends, and my closest friend is going to try for culinary school so sheâs not really planning on college.
I believe in you! Let me know how it goes. When will you get results?
Yeah! We try to visit her at least once a month because she only lives about an hour and a half away. I hope you have a nice time with your grandma! Thatâs sweet she wants to treat you for your graduation :D
I love hearing from you, friendly anon <3 Thanks for chatting with me!
