i appreciate that you value my opinion on this ! but i do want to warn generally that my word is not law, so don’t let me tell you what to do. i don’t want to be held responsible if i say something too strict or not strict enough and have people come back to me like “uhm actually they said—!” later. i’m also NOT the one who found the original coy message so i don’t have complete context about it, we’re all kinda learning together rn.

BUT i will give me personal insight on this question anyway because you asked and i do have my own opinions on it.

first of all, the screenshot specially said “weird fan behavior.” i don’t know what he views as weird, but i am assuming that means content explicitly shipping them, not content of them (not just popiso but any pairing) as a duo, as you were saying.

things like most of our fanfiction, really shipping focused art/edits, and posting clips with captions like “omg he so wants to put a baby in him rn look at the way they’re looking at each other” are probably off the table.

i think all the smut/suggestive fics should probably go private/be removed. and anything that is exploring them as real people a little to intimately (like, trying to psychoanalyze them or trying to be VERY accurate down to like the color of their toothbrush or something) (that’s an extreme, but if you’ve been focusing on realism to that extent, it might fall under the weird definition unfortunately).

if you, for whatever reason, don’t think your shipping fic is too weird and is being respectful enough or whatever, just archive lock it. if your fic is fully platonic i don’t think you need to lock it as long as it’s being respectful.

on tumblr if you’re going to keep posting ship content for whatever reason stop tagging it as bunch of friends and just tag the ship name. and stop posting on non tumblr about it unless you’re on a private account for rpf, even if you have them blocked. (i say this because fans will still see it and it will still spread. and it needs to be contained now.)

and uhhh and also just focus on you. dont harrass others for whatever they’ll keep posting, because i imagine fanfiction will still be uploaded and posts and edits will still be made because its fandom. while i hope EVERYONE will be respectful of the new boundaries, there will always be some. block, mute, and move on. don’t give it attention.
