Summary: There are two sides to every break-up.

Hey, this is Y/N, I’m probably waiting for you to stop calling so I can text you.

“Hey Y/N, it’s me…um, Dylan. I know you aren’t going to pick up my calls or respond to my texts for that matter, so I’m just gonna leave this message in hopes you’ll hear it. I know you’ve probably seen the news on Twitter or something, and you deserve an explanation. But the thing is, I deserve one too. So I’ll go first. I know it’s only been a few weeks, and you’re probably wondering how I moved on so quickly. I know you. You’re probably thinking that our relationship was a lie, that I was with you out of convenience or comfort or something ridiculous. But want you to know that that is not true. It’s just-.” There was a sigh. “All I ever wanted was for you to love me the way I loved you. To need me the way I needed you. And for a minute there, I thought maybe you did, that you just had a different way of showing it than I did. You were always kinda emotionally stunted.” He was teasing her with that last line.

A line he constantly used on her when she gave him store bought cards with dry, clichéd lines inside for his birthday, a sheepish smile on her face. “Don’t worry, I know this is emotionally stunted speak for “I love you and I’m grateful to have you in my life and I’m gonna give you the best blowjob ever cos it’s your birthday.””  He would joke. Or the time when his eyes overflowed with tears after watching the Titanic together for the first time, and she just sat there trying to hold back a laugh as his fingers dabbed at his bottom lids. “Wow, my boyfriend, the action star. Look at him, he’s such a bad-ass.” She had finally let her laugh escape along with the sarcastic remark. “Seriously? Not even Jack and Rose can penetrate the ‘emotionally stunted’ barrier?” He looked at her in disbelief before pouncing onto her on her side of the couch. She squealed in surprise as his body now hovered over hers, giggling as he attacked her face with kisses. “And I am your boyfriend…” He spoke, his voice penetrating the cheekbone he was currently kissing, trailing down her spine, making her quiver beneath him. “…and I am a bad-ass. And I’m about to show you just how much.”
