y'all remember that one episode where Becky love potions Sam into falling in love with her? i think that the creators should've shown Sam to be as unhinged and psychotic as Nikki was in Obsession.

i'm still not okay with how the makers treated that episode, like it was just an oopsy doopsy mistake made by becky and not the fact that she took away his bodily autonomy and almost SAed him. but then again, they don't take SA against Sam seriously anyway.

Sam and Becky are parallels of Nikki and Bear in the sense that the latter only liked being loved by the former instead of actually loving the former. Bear, despite being Nikki's friend, didn't really love or even know Nikki properly, for he always viewed her as his object of fascination and not a real person. Becky is not in the same boat but her situation is even worse, for she has never personally known Sam and only saw him as a celebrity or a deity she deeply worshipped. Both Bear and Becky wanted the other person's affection and appreciation so much that they forgot that the other person is a human, and they shouldn't be controlled like this.

Speaking of my take, the makers had a very good opportunity of showing that IT IS NEVER GOOD to try to generate artificial love, for it is always going to transform into something horrific.

We all who have seen the show know that Sam carries an unhinged energy around him, even without the demon blood and visions factor. He carries rage, betrayal, anguish and desperation in his heart. Being under the effects of a love potion would have allowed him to have an outlet for these fractured emotions and showed the audience the depth of his character, and also how fiercely he was capable of loving or being 'obsessed' over someone.

Dean : If we look at him from Dean's perspective, we will see a lot of rage, hatred even, but also understanding that he did what he had to do, and that human beings are flawed. He raised Dean to be a hunter, never gave him a childhood, never even told him that he was proud of him. That's why see Dean become the cold, hard, emotionless man as he is. But Dean also has a side of understanding, and that he doesn't hate his father entirely. We see John as this debatable, complex character who's the definition of morally grey.

Sam : But then there's Sam. Sam, being very similar to John, was treated horribly by his father. He didn't want to follow in his father's footsteps, and that led to John abandoning him. (believe me, i still haven't moved past 'if you walk out that door, don't come back') John abandoned his son at the age of 16 just because he didn't want to be what John wanted him to be. From Sam's perspective, we see John Winchester as this irredeemable character who does not deserve forgiveness and is straight up a horrible person.

there are too many heartbreaking scenes in supernatural. but for me, this is the hardest one to process. i was shaken after watching this episode.

dean just lost his brother, his favourite person in the world, his constant companion, the one person he trusted with everything that he had, the one person he'd do anything for. from his childhood, he was always ordered to protect sam, make sure that nothing happens to sam. dean always tried his best, but this time, he has failed. he failed to protect sam. he failed his sammy.

sam just lost a war he has been fighting for since he was a baby and Azazel had killed his mother. sam was constantly fighting for his life, fighting to make it better, to save it. sam is a fighter, a true warrior. but here, he comes so close to winning, to saving his life against a group of people he considered similar to him. he almost saved himself, he almost won. alas, almost is never enough.

Dean didn't go on a killing spree (not talking about Demon Dean or Michael Dean phase). Sam never tried to take out his daddy issues on other innocent people. Dean didn't try to break the relationships of other people just because he couldn't be with his girl. Sam blamed himself and no one else for his own mistakes.
