over the last year i wanted to do draw sth for the birthdays of each miragen+kagami in the same(ish) style and finally i have them all 🎉
my girl momoi got the short end of the stick lol she was the very first and there's been a bit of improvement since i drew her, omg what's that paper skin
after everything my fave one is probably still aomine's; doing that one i finally figured out what colour i wanted for his skin, and anw he looks most dynamic and fun (well kise too but that's beside the point that's my son)
stupid that my year basically starts on august 2 now, but here's to another one~
The Aomine Kagami similarities are the most evident and canonical and talked about. But what about the Kise Kagami similarities. Rich and pretty. Kise joined the teiko group last the way Kagami did. Kise losing to Haizaki and Kagami losing to Kise both in an informal one-on-one in front of their teams. Kagami’s name meaning mirror and Kise being a copycat. Their relationship with Kuroko teaching them about their role on the team. (Kise even asking Kuroko to come to Kaijo, ie to be his Light!!) Aomine being the unstoppable force they lose to and train with and learn from and develop their own skills (Perfect Copy, Kagami’s Zone) to overcome. Them.

kise wasn't equals with other miracles - he joined late, he's still got ways to go, he struggled desperately and he still came up short - of course there'd be a sense of inferiority (it's obvious with aomine because of their rivalry, with others he doesn't even try to compete until later) – and there's none of that with kagami. because kagami already sees him as a good guy (anyone who plays basketball with passion is a good guy and he reads past kise's fake 'oooh i don't care about it' bullshit) and a good rival, he doesn't have anything to prove!
and while kagami did have to go and prove himself to kise (that's teiko ptsd for you), he did it in a way that was fresh – he won and he wasn't condescending about it. yeah i won but i know we'll both bring out our best next time too, let's go again-
like it's canon that kagami saved aomine, but i'd go on and say that he also saved kise (which is to say: aokagakise supremacy lol)
bonus to two: kagami looked so happy when kise entered zone in extra game, that's his girl kicking ass!
