really galling amount of people misinterpreting this post so i'd like to clarify. i'm saying that when discussions about patriarchal beauty standards and the way women are heavily shamed and coerced into eschewing their own natural state of being (hairy) are occurring, it is unhelpful (AT BEST) to interrupt and say that the reason YOU remove the hair from your body is because of sensory issues. that's not what we're talking about. stop asking for validation for doing something that society at large wants you to do. stop derailing the conversation because you feel uncomfortable about being made aware that you, for whatever reason it is, adhere to harmful, unfair and ridiculous beauty standards. you're stepping into the middle of an important conversation that needs to be had and making it all about you. shut the fuck up forever.

also quite frankly i think a lot less people would experience sensory issues if they let their hair grow out so that it isn't bristly and rough and irritating. and i cannot help but wonder why these sensory issues aren't as predominant in men. maybe you're uncomfortable with the hair on your body because you've been taught to be uncomfortable with it. just a thought.

so I really wanted the gun Saburov gives Dankovsky on day 2 because I spent all my money on The House of the Living and wanted to sell it and so kept selecting the dialogue options bringing it up to the exclusion of asking Saburov about anything else and ended up looking like a bloodthirsty freak who gets a whiff of plague and immediately wants to shoot people in the street

for what it’s worth, I think this is a much stronger ‘disturbingly alien’ characterization of time lords than making the Doctor a rude asshole sometimes or whatever it is people mean when they say they wish the doctor was more “alien”. Scandrius is polite, personable, most of what he says to Tegan is perfectly innocuous and yet clearly doesn’t consider her a full person like he would another time lord. She’s a possession he scooped up to fulfill a fantasy. And every other time lord’s lack of reaction about this element says a lot about gallifreyan cultural blind spots (they treat him like he’s a bit of a sad weirdo because ‘collecting humans as pets’ is more of a bizarre, socially-inappropriate interest rather than kidnapping a person).

like 'people pigeonhole this thing as being for kids but it is not' IS a legit problem and its how you end up w things like e.g. moral guardians objecting to Watchmen on the grounds that it's a comic book movie about superheroes so it must have been intended for children. OR fantasy novels by women being presumed to be YA when they are not. it is not things that are factually for children being labelled, correctly, as for children.

it is truly the ppl who fight tooth and nail that the thing they love isnt for children that actually seem to operate with the belief that fiction made for kids is bad and worthless art that u r stupid for liking. that is not the case and once u finally stop being insecure about it and confront that u dont have to ignore or deny the reality of what the thing u like is is when u will stop saying stupid shit that annoys and embarrasses everybody
