I finally finished The Syndicate Master Plan and I was pleasantly surprised. It dragged a bit in spots but Fever Island into Perfect Prisoners was really solid.

#I didn’t know how I was going to like Tom Baker in audio #obviously he has a great voice but big finish in my experience requires a level of initial investment for it to work #whether it’s the era or the characters or the villains and I came into this story with nothing to initially latch onto #but it’d turned out! the thing you have to understand about doctor who is: yes it's all canon and no you, fans, writers, producers, and the doctor are not necessarily required to pay attention to or remember all of it

for example the tv show adapting Human Nature doesn't mean Human Nature didn't happen with Seven and Bernice anymore.

Classic SF once again betrayed by a clear, static-free signal and a flat digital screen

This is how I remember classic Who and Star Trek, folks, with signal ghosts and scanning lines (but usually with more static/snow)

Sharing this on my main because it appears from the notes that it's useful for some modern viewers.

You KNOW classic SF used the limited displays of CRT television and the static of transmitted signals the way theaters use stage makeup and lighting to make inexpensive props look great fine— take advantage of the medium! But it's hard to imagine how it looked if you've only seen Blu-ray HD restorations.

I swear to you, despite classic Who using bubble wrap for years as one of its go-to materials that reflected light in interesting ways, we never realized that's what it was.

when i was at walgreens (at 3 in the morning which explains all of this) the cashier was talking to her coworker about how shed rather be a werewolf than a vampire because vampires are condemned to hell but werewolves arent and then she asked me what i thought and i said vampire because im already condemned to hell and she said in the nicest tone of voice “i dont think anybody is condemned to hell….” paused, stared at me for a few moments, and added on “…not even gay people”

your favourite "bad" movie has literally nothing on the doctor who movie. the movie was intended to bring doctor who back to television and they attempted to achieve this by using a bunch of obscure lore. they put paul mcgann in a wig and he hated it. it introduced a plotline that the rest of the show has been attempting to retcon for decades. it has some of the best standalone characters i've ever seen. instead of giving the seventh doctor an emotional farewell he just gets fucking shot. awful movie 10/10

#opening monologue introducing the daleks and the master in 15 seconds explaining neither #even if you know prior doctor who Lore it doesn't even make sense #just balls to the wall nonsense. the tardis resurrects two people from the dead #never getting over the fact the x-files was filming effectively next door and the cast awkwardly sharing elevators

I've got some 9/10/11th doctor audios on my phone now and it's weirding me out because those guys are supposed to be on tv it hasn't been 15 - 20 years since their eras
