Can we just take a moment to appreciate something with Rey and Ben? They’re both abuse victims, and in different ways. But they are the two halves of a protagonist, showing what trauma does to us, how we react, and how we try to cope and heal.

That’s a big reason why it’s so lovely that they are gentle with one another, completely aware of the pain of the other.

But it’s also fantastic as a statement about personal history and mental illness. Abuse and abandonment can happen to anyone, whether you come from nothing or everything.

- Ben turning back to the Resistance before Leia dies but when he reaches where she is, Leia has already passed and Ben just crumples

- Rey and Rose forming a beautiful friendship

- Finn and Rey being beautiful besties

- Reylo Kisses

- Reylo Scar Stroking

- Ben self-sacrifice

- Any mention of Paige

- BB8’s assessment of Ben (whether he rolls over his foot or just bumps him gently or whatever)

- Chewie and Ben reuniting on the side of the resistance and Chewie starts striding towards Ben and Rey starts trying to put herself in between the too cause she’s scared but then Chewie just hugs him or something and Ben is whispering “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” into Chewie’s fur

Rian Johnson basically confirmed that Kylo / Ben wanted to kiss Rey in the elevator scene. It’s canon.

Not to mention, Johnson tells us that Adam Driver, as Kylo / Ben, seriously considered kissing Rey (Daisy Ridley) in this scene.

He is, indeed, staring at her lips in the elevator.

We almost got a kiss here.

Why? Because Rian Johnson gave us this tidbit:

Q: So…is this the first time Kylo has ever held hands with a girl?

Rian Johnson: I actually talked about that with Adam [Driver]. Adam was like, “So…have I [Kylo / Ben] actually kissed a girl before?” I would think maybe he has. Maybe after hours in the Jedi camp, there was a game of spin the bottle — “spin the lightsaber…”
