I think the reason why it took so long for alex and henry to get together is because they are classic extrovert and introvert (other than the fact they both have bad gaydar and thinking the other one is straight). First impressions between extrovert and introvert almost always bad. Alex misinterprets Henry's social awkwardness as rudeness. And the way Henry dismiss Alex when their first met because he was actually attracted to him, classic introvert moves. Trust me I know. Not to mention he was still upset after losing his father. I understand that too. Introverts can be misjudged as being cold and mean and rude when we are in our cocoon phases. We literally shut everyone out.

I also noticed that extroverts are also very passionate. They express their feelings and opinions loudly (Henry's word). So when he 'hated' henry, he like really dislikes him. But once he get together with henry, he almost immediately falls head over hills for him. Henry used to hides his feeling, mostly because his whole life he had to hide who he really is and pretend to be a straight prince. So when you compared it to alex, who is outgoing and loud and easily express his feeling, he looks so smitten with henry.

But I think we are skipping over the reason why Crowley reacted so strongly apart from yk the fact that the guy tried to kill aziraphale and all that

So in the previous lines before the whole ourselves thing Aziraphale is talking about wanting to be Gabriel’s FRIEND.

Aziraphale wants to be Gabriel’s friend. He wants to call a friend the guy that’s made his whole six thousand years on this earth miserable, a guy that looked down on him, underestimated him, patronized him, the guy that tried to kill him with hellfire without even a trial and that smiled while doing so.

Now, imagine you’re Crowley. You’ve known and respected and loved this angels for 6000 years, you’ve helped him, you have a history and you go way back.

Imagine you’re Crowley and how you’ve wanted to befriend this angels for 6000 years only for him to shut down any and all attempts at actually admitting you are friends, at admitting you’re on the same side.

Imagine how you’d feel when you realize that the label you’ve been fighting tooth and nail for, for literally centuries, and that it took the literal end of the world to even get close to, is now being given so freely to another being, to a being that’s honestly objectively worse than you. To the guy that tried to kill the angel when all you’ve done is trying to be nice friendly to him.

I imagine Crowley is feeling awful at that. He’s probably wondering if there’s something wrong with him that makes a wannabe killer a better person to befriend than him.

From a plot standpoint, that kiss showed Crowley's desperate attempts to keep Aziraphale, to reel him in and back to the Us that they had built upon.

But from just a show standpoint, they. fucking. kissed.

Obviously their love transcends physicality, and Neil has said that Good Omens is a love story even before season 2, but the outright confirmation of a widely popular queer ship ON SCREEN is just so... Unheard of.

Every fandom or show has their trademark gay couple that aren't-really-gay-but-also-kind-of-are-gay: Merlin and Arthur, Sherlock and John (very heavy offender), Dean and Castiel (okay this one was canon, but we all know what happened IMMEDIATELY afterwards), and I suppose at some point Ineffable Husbands had just been included in the same category as the rest of them.

And to have it be moved from mostly fandom and fan work fuelled to outright canon - like 'they fucking kissed on screen' canon - is just so fucking fantastic.

It's not vague, it's not lines that are blurred for the sake of being on the fence of appealing to two audiences at once, and it's not only canon because the creator just said it's canon without rhyme or reason purely for the sake of appealing to a queer audience (looking at you, Ms J. K. Rowling) - it's undeniable, blatant evidence that Crowley and Aziraphale are in love.

And yes, at the moment it's devastating, but it's also devastatingly real. And that's so important.

Especially with the release of Our Flag Means Death, I really do hope we are entering a new era in mainstream media where queer ships finally aren't treated as some sort of mysterious prize that the writers dangle in front of you like a carrot on a stick, and are just simply treated like any other ship out there.

Because if so, then queer kids will be growing up to these shows, see this new era of unabashedly queer media, and won't have to hide away their ships like some dirty little secret. They won't have to wonder if their representation is even representation. They won't have to get excited over being able to see the small chance of themselves represented in a character only to be let down so incredibly badly, because queerness is good only when it's marketable.
