“why are you tired? you haven’t done anything all day” the simple fact that i exist drains me. hope this helps
The yearning yearners who yearn 🧡
I feel like a lot of people don't actually get what chronic fatigue is like, it's one of those disabilities that always gets like... Brushed under a rug and re-categorized as being "lazy" or like something you can get over or power through. And, while society requires you to try and power through because our society is fundamentally broken when it comes to the disabled, some days you can't like with basically every other disability.
When I say I'm always tired, a lot of people probably think like... Maybe I just have low energy or feel like I didn't get enough sleep. But, no, it's a lot worse than that. Imagine, you've stayed up for 24 hours. A lot of people who've done all nighters know that feeling, you're dead tired. You can feel your reaction times being slower, you're light-headed, and everything takes an extra layer of effort. You're grumpy, hyper-vigilant, you even have some paranoia going on or even mild hallucinations once in a blue moon. Imagine feeling that all the time. Imagine, no matter how much sleep you get; how much caffeine you consume; that's how you feel on a sliding scale every single day. Some days you're just super fucking tired and sluggish, sure, those happen too. And, they're bad on their own. But, you never feel rested. You are always, to some degree, in that state of feeling like you haven't slept in forever. Now, imagine living in the US where you're expected to work for a living even in that state. You're driving. You are on the road in that state, because of our car-based infrastructure. When you do have a job and you're working, you have to figure out how to find a flow where you don't just constantly collapse or fuck everything up because of the tired state you're in. You are now not only in danger, yourself, but as a result you're potentially endangering others because of being expected to just "deal" with your fatigue.
Now, do you see why it's so god damn ridiculous that this disability isn't taken seriously by not only society at large; but the government when you apply for disability?
I am tired of being tired. Living my life at like a minimum is so hard some days, and this doesn't touch on other problems someone might have. This is just like, the default on a good day.
it’s okay to do things that make your symptoms worse (as long as you’ll stay safe)
every once in a while you need to eat something yummy. or go on a walk. or a trip to the zoo. take a hot shower. cry your eyes out. dance. listen to music. draw for way to long. write. laugh. sit in a cafe with a friend. paint your nails. dye your hair. go on a run. pet a cat
sometimes you need to do things that are cathartic or make yourself feel alive. sometimes you need the reminder of why you’re fighting so hard to stay alive
this is your reminder that just because it makes your symptoms worse, it isn’t always the wrong thing to do. there can be value in these actions
If you think about it too, abled people do it all the time. Deciding to drink to excess at a party knowing they'll have a hangover. Going to a theme park knowing walking all day is going to hurt their feet by the end. We have the right to make those same decisions.
This is called Dignity of Risk, and it's an important concept in disability justice.
Everyone weighs their physical and mental/emotional health against one another in constantly shifting balance; inevitably, there are times when we choose to accept consequences to one for the sake of the other.
Infantilsing us by undermining our agency in the name of "protection" or "care" is yet another way that we are disabled by society.
and is your shame helpful? is it inspiring goodness and change? or is it keeping you frozen in time unable to move on and be everything you have expanded to be?

Here are another set of initials used by Theodore Low De Vinne's (1828-1914) De Vinne Press in New York in the early 20th century. The last two images are of chromatic initials to be printed in two or three colors.
These examples come from Types of the De Vinne Press, published in New York by the De Vinne Press in 1907. Theodore De Vinne founded his press in 1883. He was also a co-founder of the prestigious Grolier Club and one of the leading commercial printers of his day, whose enterprise had a profound influence on American printing and typography. This book was intended as a promotional specimen book “for the use of compositors, proofreaders, and publishers,” to demonstrate the wide variety of typographic possibilities that could be available to their clients.
