Restarted the ginger bug starter that's been sitting in my fridge for months. Refreshed with new ginger but it got really active in a couple days. Surprised that the starter was still quite active.

This lemonade ginger soda was day 2 of starting the soda!! So happy!! Left it for 1 more day then refrigerated. The chilled soda had a good gassy mouthfeel 😆😆!! A bit warming on the back of the throat for aftertaste...

Tried making an osmanthus sour plum hibiscus tea soda as well but so far doesn't look like much activity yet... but it's only been a couple hours so hopefully it'll get stronger tomorrow~~ 🤞

Ended 2022 with my fav -- Focaccia + Leftover Christmas Ham + Cheddar

The crisped up ham on the top is really good. Chewy bread, crispy crust. Although it's probably kind of dense. But so so so good!! Salty + Olive-y 😍😍

And started a vanilla extract experiment!!

Made the chinese date cake!!

The aroma of the dates come through but feel that it could have been more. Think it may be nicer with dark brown sugar instead of light. Also might cut the eggs and use butter. This recipe is more like a chiffon than the denser one we tried in Chengdu.
