Abel has always loved the modern arts. As a kid, a babysitter of his showed him the joys of Saturday morning cartoons- SpiderMan, X-Men and the like. That's what sparked the obsession with him and the flames never, ever dulled. If anything, they only grew as he grew up.
It made it a little harder growing up. As an awkward child, excited to tell everyone about the things he loved, he was made fun of a fair bit. Rather than retreat into himself, Abel just kept trying to show others. To him, they just hadn't found the right 'cool' thing that he enjoyed. So he was bullied quite a bit as he insisted through it all.
Really, that was up until high school. He found a group more like him in the small town in Florida he grew up in. It wasn't much but it was way more than he had in elementary school. In fact, there was even someone there that became more than a friend.
Their name was Kai and Abel was almost instantly in love.
They shared similar interests, they could talk for hours and never get sick of one another. Even as high school escaped their lives, the two of them stayed connected. Kai went to school for engineering while Abel studied to be a tattoo artist and painter. If you asked Abel, for years, what his favorite memory was, it would be the first time they got to kiss Kai. It was a party and they stood watching Fourth of July fireworks together. It was tension and release all at once. Years of buildup captured in one serene moment.
It was no surprise to anyone that Kai proposed to Abel not a year after that first kiss.
What was extremely surprising though was when Kai called it off another year late. That they had been seeing someone else for the last two months. It shattered Abel into a million pieces. There was no muse left in him after that. His, once both of their apartment, fell into disarray.
It took his friends weeks to even get into the place to speak to him. Weeks and months more to pull him out of the funk. Roughly eight months after the engagement was called off, Abel left Florida. Went as far away as he could. To Aurora Bay.
He promised himself a fresh start, so he opened up a comic book shop. He tried to find different ways of creating, helping out the local escape room became one of them. And slowly, but surely, he healed.

like most of celia's projects, this dress had been in the process of being made to the very last minute. so much so, the brunette found herself in front of her entryway mirror with a needle and thread in hand, sewing herself into the gown. the zipper had abandoned ship and decided to warp, so this was the next best option, she assumed. plus, every town-wide get-together (whether a good thing or a bad thing) had the caveat of being a chance to advertise her business, so this dress would work even if it took hours.
the invitation from abel, while surprising, was very much welcome. as the weeks started to creep up, celia began to worry she'd have to weather the storm alone. but having someone like him, someone who had quickly become a very dear friend, by her side made her nerves settle just a tad. the memories of the last 'date' she had accepted wouldn't stop lingering, however. and she knew this could just be a sequel to the chaos that was that night.
the knock on the door forced her to throw all those thoughts into a box and push them away to the back of her mind. celia gave herself one last lookover before she opened the door. "oh gosh, thank you! and look at you! absolutely divine."
just as she was going to begin to thank in for the flowers, a familiar silhouette brushed against her leg. a large orange cat popped his head out from beneath the train of her skirt. "ugh, dio! you were not invited, I'm so sorry." she explained to the absolute unit of a kitty. with a throw of a random cat toy that had been laying around, she distracted him long enough to close the door behind her. "sorry, he thinks he needs to go wherever I go. yet hates cars." a soft laugh passed her coral-painted lips. "but thank you. they are simply gorgeous."
the compliment abel was going to return to celia with was cut off by the appearance of the cat. his eyes widened slightly and the smile on his face grew. there were plenty of people out there who loved animals in general and while abel could not count himself among those numbers, he could certainly call himself a cat lover. there was a small bit of sadness in him as the cat chased the toy away, but he could understand not wanting to risk this dio running off into aurora bay proper.
"shame. would have loved to have him. i don't think he'd be allowed, but i'm sure we could have convinced them to allow him entrance, you know?"
a nod and then abel offered her his arm. it felt fitting given the type of night it was and how dressed up they were. "was all of this hard to plan out and such? it's really amazing how much everything of yours matches. you gotta tell me all the steps. well, all the ones you want to tell me of course," abel yapped as he walked them both down to his car and then held the door open for her.
Luz had come alone to this thing just because it'd intrigued her. She'd never been to a real prom before, but she had been to lavish events. So an excuse to get all dressed up in a nice fancy gown she didn't spend a dime on? She was sold. After some mingling though, she definitely needed a drink so she made her way through the crowd, heading towards the food and drink area when she saw something much more worth her attention.
"Fancy seeing you here." She teased as she came up behind him. "Care to get a drink with me? Hopefully nothing floral this time."
"Fancy is right, huh? Quite the sight- all of these people out here in all of these fancy outfits," Abel commented with a raspy laugh to follow.
"You look stunning; as if you need me to tell you that. But what kind of person would I be not to tell you, you know?" Abel's eyes stayed on Luz's eyes though, unable to pull away from them. "Would love nothing more to get a drink with you. Lemme tell the date and I'll head over with you okay?"
location: prom at aurora bay high school ( choose your own adventure )
eleanor wasn't exactly sure if it was a good idea to go to the prom since she just got back in town last month and she's still trying to settle back in aurora bay. but it seemed like such a nostalgic event that she couldn't quite pass up. always the people watcher, her eyes widened a little at the sight before her. " did you see that or was that just me? " eleanor voiced with disbelief as she turned to the person next to her, raising her brow towards them. // @aurorabaystarter
"nope. not you at all, that was definitely someone dancing with his hands fully on that woman's ass." there's a moment- a second where abel doesn't say anything else. quickly after though, he has added, "which no disrespect to, you know? more power to people who do that. just...-here feels like a weird place to do so. he was into it."
"Harris?" The question of who that was immediately lost in the comment about a sea witch. "Oh no, the sea witch is back? And here I thought we were all safe from her wrath."

abel picked celia up as all good dates did. an easy arrangement to make after asking her to go with him. abel liked celia, she was kind and talented and had made for a fast friend the day he approached her. there was no baggage of a date in his question, what with him still feeling a little raw from a broken engagement not too long ago. so he had cosigned himself to simply having fun and seeing where all of that took him.
all the same, he came to celia's door, a small bit of flowers in his hand. when she answered, his smile grew and he was quick to speak, "wow! you look simply amazing celia! look at you. beautiful, stunning! i got you these. i know prom stuff has like, corsages and boutonnieres, but i figured this was the more grown version of that you know? "
Abel could enjoy people watching normally, but this place felt a little too full to really get the full experience out of it. He wasn't sure where it was Celia had run off to, not that he felt as though he needed to keep track of her. She was her own person with her own agendas and people to see. So with that, Abel stood off to the side, away from the packed dance floor and merely watched.
It is only at the appearance of the other does his outward expression change. It morphed into a look of recognition, confusion on trying to place where it was she knew her from before realizing and approaching. "Hey. Flora, right? You came in the other day to the comic book shop?"

Abel: -I just think that my heart you know hammering out of my chest
Abel: is a good indicator of how I feel about you when you're around
Abel: not to say that it's like me having a crush or anything
Abel: just that I like hanging out with you a bunch and your smile is insanely pretty!

Plant/Flower Symbolism Asks: Are there any wounds--physical, emotional, or otherwise--that your muse is still recovering from?
"Emotional. Yes. I...-I was with the person with whom I thought I would be spending the rest of my life with. Gone in an instant to me, but built up over months. Past that, I don't want to splatter our business everywhere, but it's been...been hard, you know? One of those wounds that seems to reopen itself in random places and times since I broke up with them."

âť how does your character show their reliability ?
Zodiac Headcanons: Taurus
"Show? God. I think it's about consistency. Admittedly, it's not all that flashy. But I just think it's important to show up every time I'm asked for help, you know? Sure, it might be too much for others, but I've never found all that difficult to just be there when I'm needed or when I feel like I'm needed."
â or maybe thatâs just how modern cinema likes that fake neon lighting to convey the eighties too? You know how one aspect of a time period because the go to look â Ruby explained. She was a fan of aesthetics; very specific ones to be exact but even she knew there were more than just a few looks. Like how others comment on how the eighties was actually quite brown and not that vibrant. â itâs a musical too. Did i mention that? It has the guy from little shop of horrors in it. Rick moranis? â she added piecing together the movie on her head. She loved it when she saw it but she wanted to remember it again to give it a watch. â I have my own at home. It just sort of need to get used to these ones. But I skate all the time. The traffic situation sucks in this townâ she joked @inkwroughtabel
"hey. works fairly well to me. it's kitschy, of course. like how certain filters are always used on cities and such. or sepia for an even older tone. but you won't hear me complaining about the neons." it was just a cool look to him through and through. "oh hell. a musical as well? you got anymore secrets to this movie as well?" abel joked in return, though his curiosity was spiking more and more. he would want to watch this after they were done here, that much was for sure. "that explains it. so i'm set up for failure. working with an expert over here who's doing spins and knows movies that fit the atmosphere here and i'm just being myself? seems unfair," he joked in return. "you're not lying on that traffic comment."
Romina was out to buy a gift for the personal assistant she'd hired the last month during the busy time. It was normal for things to go a little crazy in the winter when people were stuck inside. When she told her that she'd gotten another opportunity at a law firm, Romina was the first to congratulate her.
She'd already purchased her a day at the spa but she wanted to get something for her son who she knew enjoyed comic books. Unfortunately, when she entered the comic store, and wandered about, she knew how far out of her depth she was.
"Do you know what comics would be a big hit with ten year olds?"
The usual sound of the door chiming did not pull Abel away from the wall. For now, he had hoped one of the others could greet whomever had just walked in as he stocked the new issues rolling out. The small box under one arm, while the other reached into the cardboard, pull out a small stack and place it properly on the shelf.
It is only once an unfamiliar voice had pulled him from this motion did he know that she had been left to her own devices.
It didn't bother him much. Abel turned to her, smiled once the question fully registered to him. "Oh, of course. That's arguably too easy. To no one's surprise, kids love most comics. Do you know if they have a particular taste? In movies and such, you know. Prefers women superheroes, ones that have powers, really into MCU stuff, that sort of thing?"
âMight be because they arenât good at much else, so they dig their heels into this subject matter and hope they say stuff to people who donât know better.â
Paxton isnât a comic nerd by any means. He doesnât dive into Marvel or DC, sometimes he thumbs through the odd one volume story, but it has more to do with the art of it than the story. The character names slip from his mind, the dialogue is glossed over, but environments, props, structures, facial expressionsâŚ
Different ballpark, and thatâs where he lands in terms of expertise. âI only know what I know because itâs trained in our heads to research everything if youâre going to be working with scripts and visual storytelling.â Fortunately most of his commissions fall under illustrations.
âIâd say make a fake account, but itâs public. And no. Iâm not into those superhero types, and Iâm definitely not into nerds who make this their whole personality.â
"Could be. Think, you know, also lies in that they've finally got the chance to feel superior. Like they think they've spent their whole life looked down at. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. Can't say that much. But this gives them to have the shoe on the other foot," Abel hazarded. Despite being on the pulse of the community, it was just not a sentiment he found himself agreeing with. He liked comics because he...just liked comics.
There's a shrug. "Don't have to be into it to find someone hot in a costume hot. But fair enough. The rest of us can keep our good taste away from you," The boss joked. "Have you been working on stuff lately? For yourself or for others?"
"We could always just buy the various bottles of wine if that's how you're feeling." Not like she couldn't afford it after all. The black credit card in her wallet was practically itching to be used anyways, especially when use of it also came with a handsome, bumbling man to make her afternoon even better. "So okay, no lavender. Cherry blossom seems promising? And I'll definitely be buying a bottle of red even if it's not floral-y since that's always my go-to." Luz kept up conversation easily as they got to the winery section, soon enough being led to a little table to share as well. "How about you? Any favorites I should know about? Or on the flipside, anything you don't like?" And if it came out flirtier than she meant for it too (and more double-entendre'd) well, who could blame her?
"We could, I just feel like I have been lied to at every pass by this establishment. I'm in such a rage," Abel joked once more. When Luz spoke, he was quick to listen. Abel was not the type to speak or think over another. Converse clad feet walked with deliberate, but quiet steps towards the table along with the other, his smiling face nodding along as she shared her plan. "Sounds good to me. I...I think I will stick to the fruitier things. Not so much into the dry...dry stuff, you know?" His words stumbled out, as they so often did, but with the added measure of speaking to someone he was a sort-of fan of.

Cora's face brightened when he started pulling books out, her request seemingly not that out of left field. Why wouldn't comic book fans enjoy a little romance from time to time? "Oh, that all sounds perfect," she says gratefully, taking a copy of each and holding them close to her chest. Her head tilted to the side slightly when he suggested venturing into another genre. Somehow, the thought had never crossed her mind, but it made so much sense. Maybe writing about something other than love was exactly what she needed. "That's sort of genius, actually. Which are your favourites?" @inkwroughtabel
If there was one mission that Abel would always seek out, it was making sure that creatives could continuously find inspiration to create. Art was so invaluable to them as people. "Some of my favorites in general? Arc wise I'd say Secret Wars from Marvel. Or Kraven's Last Hunt. Long Halloween for Batman. Then the independent stuff, definitely Somethings Killing the Children. Saga is stellar. Manga wise and honestly where you might want to start from all of this is a more recent one called Jujustu Kaisen? It's an action read for sure, but the creator really enjoys romance a lot so the tones are sort of underlying. Like pining...warrior types, but it's modern."
There was something about neon that Ruby loved and that was odd. It didnât explicitly fit in with the aesthetics she was best known for. There had to be something there that influenced her love of the lights and the colors. â mmmm fifties. You might be right there. Also a little eighties too. You know thereâs this movie from maybe the early eighties thatâs supposed to be set in the fifties but it like blends the decades. It does it pretty seamlessly. â she explained trying to remember the name of the movie. â I hope I donât look in my eighties? You donât at all.â She added before standing and spinning a bit on her skates to get a feel for them. She left her own at home so she had to do with the rinks ones @inkwroughtabel
"oh! you know what, you're so right. it does have an eighties vibe with it as well. that's a good call. a movie with them combined? mmm. that sounds really interesting. when you remember definitely tell me. i'd love to see it personally. we could make an evening of it." eyes lifted up to her little spin, his face turning up into a smile and then his tattooed hands clapping furiously. "you look like you got a feel for those. way better than eighty year old, but no you definitely do not look so. and i appreciate you saying the same for me. i'll try and not let that go to my head," he joked and stood up to join her, though he did no spin or move like she had.
