I HC that Emperor and Prince’s father set that all boys born to the direct Houzuki bloodline (his) to have names related to nobility and royalty, like Duke, King, Emperor, Prince, Baron, etc.

When awake and conscious, Rider is quite adverse to touch. He rarely initiates it. Best he can do is give a pat on the shoulder and that is usually reserved to his teammates, when praising them for a job well done.

Canonically, in the games, Octolings are expert mechanics. In Splatoon 2's victory emotes, they're shown studying their weapons. Its also canon they usually listen to all of Sheldon's weapons' descriptions. Inklings usually don't and/or ignore Sheldon

Canonically, in the manga, Rider knows about weapons and their specs in similar detail - to the point Sheldon left him in charge of the weapons shop while he went on a Treasure Hunt with Goggles. Rider also stated he trains with different weapons to learn how to counter them in battle

I HC that Rider lost his parents (or was abandoned) at a very young age, and he was adopted by an Octoling, who raised Rider as his own
