also im adding this one cuz it looks sick

it feels like a lot of the fandom forgives malleus too quickly or narrows down the complexities of who he is for the sake of malleyuu. if you're gonna write post-book 7 malleyuu, platonic or romantic, you need to make it hurt. make him realize what harm he has caused yuu, make him suffer beneath his guilt and regret. make him grovel at the prefect's feet, make him begin to shed his pride and arrogance and search high and low to find a way to earn back their trust, their affections. make him beg.

of course, i don't think yuu would abruptly stop being his friend after the matter, not at all. there is still empathy, there is sorrow that is felt for what malleus endured to cause him to go into such a state. at least i understand it. but even so, surely there is an air of caution now that lingers in the air between them. build on that !!! malleus has made mistakes, and far too long has he been sheltered from their consequences. don't keep sheltering him.

but also it drives me crazy because: name one way. name one personality trait. “they both solve cases and have abusive dads!” true. but that’s biography, not personality. instead you have to rewrite chase’s entire personality to make this work. “he’s driven and a rule breaker!”, except that he’s notoriously unmotivated and a famous tattle-tale who hates getting in trouble. “chase loves diagnostics and mysteries!” except for all the times he admits or says he doesn’t. “chase is morally flexible, just like house!” chase is morally flexible; house isn’t. breaking rules isn’t the same as lacking morals. “they’re both depressed!” not a personality trait.

like i’m not even mentioning foreman here. the way all the things people say are true about chase are actually true about foreman, and how wild it is fandom refuses to allow foreman to matter to house despite 60% of the show being about how much foreman does matter to house. not even going there.
