I used to rule the world

Rich’s broken voice on the other side of the line was all Cris needed to hear before he had a portal open and was stepping through in front of the Institute. “Rich?” he called, seeing his lover only a few yards away.  He crossed the distance in no time and pulled Rich into his arms.  “Oh, my darling, what happened?”  He held Rich tight, hoping to offer any support he could. 

Sebastian could smell it the moment the male walked through the door. He had chalked it up to his imagination and tiredness. Richard was in heat, and as his owner, it was his job to take care of it. He had promised the male he would help him through it if he asked, and they had been together for some time now. “Come here, bunny” He finally ordered, running a hand through his hair as he woke himself up more. Richard needed him.

Sebastian ran a hand over his face at the sounds outside his room. “Come in” He called out in a sleepy tone. He figured his pet had another nightmare or something and quite honestly just wanted to go back to sleep. “Another nightmare, bunny?” He asked, sitting up in his bed, the sheet resting around his waist. He wore nothing, though the moonlight accented every curve and dip of his body. “Just come lie here, I’m exhausted” He mumbled with a yawn.

Cris pulled Rich against him, kissing him gently.  “You should go before I find I can’t let you leave,” he smiled, looking at his Shadowhunter with unending love and affection.  “Call me after you talk to them.  I will come get you or send a portal if you need to get out for awhile.”  He cupped Rich’s cheek, “You are a wonder, Richard.  I love you.” 

“I love you too..” Rich said and didn’t want to let go of Cris. 

“Not a weird name at all.  That’s one of my cat’s nicknames.  Yelling Schrodinger every time he gets in trouble is exhausting.”  Unlike Catsby who basically stayed out of the way, Schrodinger was always getting into things or under foot.  “Thanks,” he smiled, blushing a little. 

“There is only thing worth seeing in the bedroom,” Cris grinned, pulling Rich along. “The bed is all that matters right now.” And it was true.  More importantly, the bed with Rich spread out on top of it, crying out Cris’ name.  But all in good time. 

“I’m sure the kids would love the company,” Cris laughed.  He didn’t find Rich’s answer strange at all and he gave him a small smile. “Does the rabbit have a name?  I had a bear once whose name was Ted.  As in Ted E Bear.”  It was remarkably easy to talk with Rich. 

Cris was unsure about leaving Rich alone with his parents but he hoped the other would be okay.  He knew there was a possibility that they would lash out at him.  “I would rather have them mad at me then you.”  Though, it wasn’t fair to either of them.  They should be allowed to love each other without people judging them. 

“Please. Don’t apologize, Rich,” Sebastian said simply, looking down at the table, lifting his tea to his lips, shrugging away the comment. “She and I manage. It’s maybe not the end all, you know? I wouldn’t swear by our love or anything. But we sometimes work well together? Gods I sound like a right sod. You see, this is what I mean. You walked away when you weren’t feeling it, when you decided your marriage wasn’t good for you. I’m not married, but I still think it’s easier to tough it out.”

It helped that they had agreed from the very beginning that neither of them were going to say I love you. They had agreed that this wasn’t going to be that kind of relationship. He wasn’t even sure he could consider them friends with benefits. They just… They did well enough. Supported each other when they needed it. Fought non-stop. “Let’s not talk about me, though. What have you been up to lately? Been on any good holidays lately?”

Rich looked up from his coffee mug and left it be just like Sebastian wanted. They had different view and Rich’s two cents of opinioin wouldn’t matter a great deal to Seb anyway, at least not relationship wise. 

“Only if you agree to a movie at mine” He asked stepping aside so Richard could get into the flat. “I’m going to admit, I’m a sucker for romantic comedies” He confessed, running a hand through his short hair. “Though I have more than that if you want.” He added quickly, hoping Richard wasn’t put off by the idea. He really just wanted to get to know him better.
