Well, she was about to be on time to class--but rampaging metas clearly had other ideas--she hit the brooch and her Kid Flash uniform was out--and she's on scene in no time, where civilians are already in harm's way--it seemed like a fight had managed to move it's way onto the campus and every one of the jerks were fighting blindly, causing collateral damage in the process.

Iris whipped up whirlwinds, plucked debris out of the air and ran on instinct--until damnit--a real pretty and cool goth woman looked like she was about to get her head taken off but Kid Flash-- was faster than the maniac’s blow and before the woman can blink, she’s been picked up and ran away from the mess.

“You alright? You'll be safe here--I've got to--” she broke off, a red blur was already streaking towards the ruckus and like that, her father once again decided to step in before Iris had much of a chance. Her face twisted briefly, he’d taken care of everything and hadn’t even bothered to give a ‘hey’--Oh, well--she should be used to it-and she had class to get to..

She ought to be used to it, ought to know what to expect. Why did it feel like a punch each time? Why did it still hurt? Why did it make her insides twist and make her wish she could just run forever and disappear like he did--? --but she would never--no...she wasn't fast enough, she'd just have to face her problems. This should get easier with time, should heal, but it felt like the wound was cut and dug into just a little more each time--her ears practically rung with, “Good night, I love you.” and she saw a disapproving glance when she spoke of being Kid Flash--she just wasn't the right person for him. “Good night, I love you.” just a magnetized vibration in the air, a recording, all he offered to his kids anymore. Without fail, every night she had to hear him attempt to soothe his guilty conscience or something...maybe it was just another way to hurt, pick apart that wound and refuse to let it scab and heal... Iris stayed up, eyes heavy, but one look at the dark room and her own shaking hands, she couldn't sleep--and refused just once to let him say those words that rang hollow after the years.
