I created this fun little doodle for the @capri-bigbang2k21 and expected a fluffy little fic. What @silentdescant created was a million miles beyond my expectations. This fic literally ripped my heart out and put it back together again

toph and sokka fit this trope perfectly. they’re both very self-sacrificial, toph in the sense that she thinks she’s invincible to the point where she won’t care about her self-preservation if it means saving the other person and sokka because his role as the protector has become his whole personality (due to trauma and since it’s all he’s ever known) which results in him throwing himself in harms way for anyone he loves in order for them to be safe. which is ironic because when it comes to one another, they’d be absolute hypocrites and criticise each other for it.

(major canon divergent from that scene in Prince's Gambit where they see akielon soldiers in the wild 🙂‍↕️)
