Did you know
many giant australian cuttlefish r transbians
For context:
the ratio of male to female cuttlefish is 11 to 1.
this means its hard to find a female to mate with, and if you do, theres likely already at least 1 other male whos already spotted her.
the solution for some "males"? a "sex change". being female makes it easier to approach and find another female, and easier to mate.
this also means that the female sees them as another female, and has sex with another female.

Yāall know that likeā¦. being fat isnāt bad right
ābut being fat is unhealthy so body policing is fine!ā you donāt actually know anyoneās health issues unless they flat-out tell you. and even then, you donāt get to police what others do with their body. I donāt care if you think youāre āhelpingā them. most people who are overweight are not like that by choice. pointing out something they are already well aware of and self-conscious about is pointless and gross, and does nothing to actually help them if they are physically unable to lose that weight. all youāre doing by telling someone theyāre at an unhealthy weight and that they need to be skinnier is reinforcing the idea that theyāll never be worth as much as thin people, and knowing that theyāll likely never lose that weight permanently can be mentally devastating and soul-crushing. the ābe healthy!ā argument is just an excuse to keep fat-shaming. body policing will never be okay, no matter how much you dress it up to make it look like it comes from good intentions.
Wait so am I wrong for thinking that you canāt just make excuses for being fat though⦠like if you have the ability to lose the weight you should probably hit the gym and at least try? Please donāt be mad at me Iām trying my best and just learning. Iām new to this. I mean ofc Iām not going to shame someone into doing it but it shouldnāt be acceptable to be fat just because youāre lazy⦠right? Am I on the wrong side of history. I just want this explained.
I understand your confusion, and I appreciate you trying to ask respectfully, so Iāll try and explain it to the best of my ability.
in our society, we often see fat people as lazy or unmotivated. particularly in america, laziness is equated to failure. you see this a lot in older generations who pride themselves on overworking because of promises of capitalism and the american dream. history of the negative connotations of fatness and its association with toxic work values aside, skinny people are considered more attractive, and therefore worth more than people who are overweight. this equation of fatness with worthlessness leaves fat people feeling broken and contributes to mental illness down the road. fat people struggle with body image their entire lives. most fat people are genetically inclined to be fat. they arenāt āmaking excusesā for their physical appearance, itās simply the way they are. shaming fat people for being fat solves nothing; it most often breeds mental illness and eating disorders, and increases the risk of suicide. rarely does bullying and mental abuse help fat people (which, letās be honest, is exactly what pressuring fat people into losing weight is). we have created a culture where fat people are put in harmful situations every day because of something as trivial as their weight. fat people struggle to get equal treatment, healthcare, job opportunities, and more. this insistence on āencouragingā fat people to lose weight comes from an obsession with sameness and conformity. humans are often intolerant toward othersā differences. fat people lie outside the thin line of whatās considered socially acceptable. which brings me to my next pointā¦
laziness also shouldnāt be demonized. humans are not built to work as much as we work today. food is supposed to be good and enjoyable. relaxation is meant to serve as a mental health buffer and reviver. prioritizing these things is a good thing. in fact, the beauty standard of thinness is misleading and, in most cases, harmful to physical and mental health. being chubby is actually more desirable, health-wise; we are supposed to have fat. itās a natural bodily survival tactic. the fact is, we prioritize having a thin figure over being happy and healthy.
fat people are more likely to be mentally stable and healthy with taking pride in their appearance, than if they were to conform to societyās will that was making them miserable. even if they are physically capable of losing the weight. weight loss is not the ultimate purpose or goal of our lives. itās an endless endeavor that will never really be achieved; even if you succeed at getting a ādesirableā body (which you will have to keep maintaining), what have you really achieved? the right to have no one pass judgmental looks or police your dietary/exercise decisions? that is a right everyone deserves inherently. no one needs to change who they are or what they look like just so people will stop harassing them. there are many reason why people are fat. whether itās health complications or lifestyle choices, itās not your place to tell them what they should be doing instead. itās their body. only they get to decide what to do with it. they deserve support and to feel good and at home in their own skin, without the expectation to change for others.
one last point: we emphasize health in a world where perfect health is rare. so many people will never be 100% healthy, and thatās okay. thatās acceptable. thereās no one perfect way to be or look. people who struggle with their health do not deserve nor need to be demonized, or discarded as useless or unproductive. everyone has worth. inherently. additionally, in several countries outside of the U.S., fatness is considered a sign of good health and eating well. so it really all comes back to beauty standards, which we cannot and should not force on anyone. conformity is not the goal of humanity. diversity is our strength, and that includes everyone- yes, everyone- of varying body size, type, and shape. we can make a more inclusive and accepting world by giving up body policing for body positivity, and well, thatās really the whole point, isnāt it?

Just in case anyone didnāt know June is National Indigenous History Month!
(Not to be confused with Native American History Month which is in November)
The month of June is National Indigenous History Month. It was officially declared in 2009 with a unanimous motion that passed in the House of Commons.
On June 21st it is National Indigenous Peoples Day! On June 21st, we celebrate the strong heritage, beautiful diverse cultures, and many outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and MƩtis People!
to everyone else in school right now:Ā
please use sparknotes. please use khan academy. please listen to school house rock songs and watch the history of the entire world i guess and tim and moby and bill nye. any documentary you watch in class can be found somewhere online with a quick google. get your books from project gutenberg and z-lib. download textbooks off the internet whenever you can find them. use desmos for a free online graphing calculator. if youāre learning something and you donāt get it look up the wikipedia page on it and put it into simple english to get the gist, then put it back into regular english to get the full story.Ā cheat if you have to. school sucks so bad rn and if youāre like me and you get all your materials secondhand or from the lost and found, online resources are really useful rn; all of the above have helped me pass a class in some way, and i hope they can help you too.
stay inside and stay safe. best of luck to all the students out there.Ā
i used sparknotes for every fucking book i was supposed to read last semester. FUCK this online school garbage, you deserve all the shortcuts you can getĀ

I don't suppose you happen to know what happened to Cotton Eye Joe - where did he come from, and where did he go?
Cotton Eye Joe was a folk hero named for his fibrous retinal growth. Son of Governor Don D. LeFoe, Joe was born in Boise, Idaho. His father died young when Joe was four, so Joe was raised by his new widow, Doe. Doe moved way up north to Fargo, where her caravan got stuck in the snow.
Joe got frostbite and lost seven toes, but they all persevered and found their new home where Joe met songwriter Herschel P. Sloane, who was soon to be wed to Ms. Jennifer Lowe. But Joe grew older and seduced his beau, calling off the marriage and trying to elope. Herschel chased Joe south to Mexico, where he found the couple in a big chateau. He hit Joe first with a big fist blow, sending the man down to the floor. He tried to run away with Jen in tow, but she loved old Cotton Eye and told him, "Hell no."
Where Jennifer and Cotton Eye ran we don't know, But Herschel wrote a song about them both, immortalizing love and loss and hope, popularized by Henry David Thoreau.
TL; DR he was from Idaho and he went to Mexico.
Bugs Bunny accidentally transformed the word nimrod into a synonym for idiot because nobody got a joke where he sarcastically compared Elmer Fudd to the Biblical figure Nimrod, a mighty hunter.
Etymology is ridiculous and terrifying sometimes
Bugs Bunny is more powerful than God
He also solidified the idea of rabbits loving carrots when carrots actually carry very little nutritional value for rabbits. The funniest part of that is that the original joke was a reference to a Clark Gable film where Gable munches on a carrot, it was never meant to imply that rabbits love carrots. The Clark Gable reference wouldāve been obvious to audiences in the 40s but it has been pretty much lost to time.
Bugs Bunny has too much power and should be feared.
I get so angry hearing and reading about what's happening in Palestine right now. I don't even know what to do and it all feels hopeless š
The situation around Sheikh Jarrah should make everyone angry. For those of you who might not know whatā going on hereās a brief breakdown:
Indigenous Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah, for a very long time, have been fighting lengthy legal battles in Israeli courts against eviction orders which aim to replace these indigenous people with illegal Israeli settlers.Ā
On May 7th, the illegal Israeli settlers along with courts (an apparatus of Israelās apartheid regime) have started a campaign to illegally take over the homeās of Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah. These families were given until today (May 10th, 2021) toĀ āreach an agreementā with the occupiers. This obviously prompted protests. The IDF has also brutally responded to these protests. Now the world is watching and global protests have started happening.
Some important things to note:
-Sheikh Jarrah belongs to the Palestinian families. It is part of the occupied Palestinian territory, and therefore any Israeli settler presence in it amounts to a war crime under international law.Ā
-There has been a mountain of UN Security Council resolutions demanding that Israel withdraw from East Jerusalem which Israel continues to ignore.
-This is ethnic cleansing
I know you feel hopeless but hereās what we can do:
-Support BDS (Boycott, Divestments, Sanctions) movements (Whatās BDS?) Boycott Israeli products from their colonial settlements
-Understand whats happening in Palestine and the crimes of apartheid/persecution being committed by Israel. (Check out this great report by HRW on the situation) After getting an understanding. SPREAD AWARENESS. Especially in the US. This is key to combatting Evangelical propaganda and Israeli lobbyists. Do this through social media.
-Contact your local reps and pressure them to stop giving Israel military funding or any form of financial support. Fight against zionist lobbyists such as AIPAC or Christians United for Israel.
-Donate if you can. Hereās a few links. If you can add more (reputable) donation links to this, I ask that you please do.Ā
International Medical Corps
Palestine Childrenās Relief Fund
Grassroots Al-Quds
I found this great twitter thread of donation links
Here is another
This is a start and we can honestly make change happen. I personally believe social media outrage coupled with supporting the BDS movement is a great way for you to help even by sitting at home.Ā
Most of all, itās important to spread awareness.

absolutely brazen, the sheer balls on these guys
the us has bombed al jazeera offices in the past, claiming they shelter legitimate military targets and islamophobia means the west shrugged it off but the claim that the AP of all groups were sheltering legitimate military targets is going to be a much, much harder sell to the international community.
