Took a swing at an art medium I was afraid of and I'm surprised to say that these are some of my favorite artworks of mine! Mother and Daughter, an X-Men Story
This is essentially just my random writings for two OCs me and my friend @poisonivysparks came up with. It's a series of random events the mother-daughter team go through and will most likely include events in First Class at the very least. I hope you enjoy the first chapter!
CHAPTER 1: The Birth of a Mother
1944. That was the year my life changed. And that's not to say my life wasn't weird to begin with. I was a mutant. A mutant with the capability to distort, manipulate, and use electricity to my own advantage. I could absorb the power into myself to keep my youth, like putting new batteries into a remote or charging phones like the youngsters do nowadays. I was born in 1879; the year the electric lightbulb was created. Whether that was a coincidence or some amusing thing God decided to do, I didnt care. All that mattered was that no one knew. I had done a lot for my country. America. I fought in wars, saved countless lives, met a lot of people, and just recently left battle grounds of WWII. It was time once again to settle down.
I walked home from work, my heels clicking against the concrete floor. My hair was pinned up nicely and my makeup done up cute. I wasn't one to dress down. At least outside my house. I was a performer at a local restaurant and everyone loved me. I didn't mind attention, but I didn't always seek it out. Attention found me. And it always happened in the most peculiar way.
During my walk home, rain poured down onto the sidewalk, and I sighed.
"Exactly what I needed, thank you," I said to no one in particular. But I heard something. Crying. Tiny sobs coming from a child, echoing down the streets. I walked toward the sound and soon enough found was I was looking for. A small baby girl, 6 to 12 months old, screaming as rain fell on her. The only protection she had was a blanket that covered her body. I kneeled down as she writhed in discomfort. My nicely manicured hands dipped into the muddy puddle that surrounded her and lifted her into my arms. No one was around. Not a trace of a parent or guardian and the orphanage was blocks down the street. I knew there was no way I'd get to them at that time of night. I didn't have another choice. The small child didnt calm down much, wet and cold. I felt sadness, deep frustration, and curiosity fight in my brain for dominance before a twang of love clenched my heart and drove me to my next few words.
"You're going to be my second chance," I stated, knowing well that she wouldn't understand, but I did. Without a second thought, I walked the rest of the way home, a baby in my arms and a new sense of purpose in my heart. I would care for the child as if she was my own. Because as far as anyone else was concerned, she was.
