I’d like to add that if you have chronic fatigue, it’s really not a good idea to assume it’s CFS. CFS causes a lot of issues beyond fatigue, and doctors are notorious for treating people with CFS badly. Tons and tons of things can cause fatigue, from vitamin deficiency to sleep apnea to narcolepsy to cancer. Tumblr loves self diagnosis but it can cause huge problems, including missing the actual source of the issue. Please don’t just assume you know what is causing your problems. Going to your doctor like “Hi I have XYZ disorder, please diagnose me” can make them think you are a faker, especially if you suggest things that are “trendy” to fake like CFS, POTS, gastroporeisis, EDS. Be honest about your symptoms but it’s generally better not to suggest a specific disorder you think is the problem.
If you have recurring fatigue, bloodwork to check iron, thyroid, vitamin D, vitamin B12 is definitely something to start with. If it comes back fine, there are more in depth thyroid panels that can be done.
Also, if for example your vitamin D levels are at the lowest end of “ok”, that can absolutely be low enough to cause significant issues. When my levels were technically still “ok” by a hair, I felt almost as bad as I did when they were well into the “low” range.
