are there any other characters with personality disorders that you like as much as kai?
hi anon!
i have an ask here for characters that are specifically similar to kai, and then i also did this breaking down some differences between him and tate langdon. but absolutely, 100% yes!!
i think a huge chunk of my favorite characters could be viewed through one PD lens or another, but you'll see below that i have a soft spot for characters with bpd traits. yk that anne rice quote where she said she sees everything bisexually ? that's me with borderlines lol so you've been warned, it's like...basically all of them oops
fiona from shameless:
she is !! so special to me and always always always has been. one of my top FMC's of all time. we see lots of borderline traits in her, most obviously the chronic instability in her relationships. she has a very intense emotional range, seemingly bottomless empathy, and never loses her joy despite so many reasons to become an evil raging nightmare sister. we get to follow her through relationships that showcase her symptoms (jimmy-steve i am Glaring at you), most of which highlight how her family ultimately means more to her than anything else (unfortunately including her own wellbeing). while i love a door 3 character, it makes me sad that she has to basically run in the end to escape everything and start fully fresh, but i love that we get to believe she finally builds a fulfilled life for herself. i like to think she reaches a place where she can visit home without letting it consume her, and that everything works out for her in the end. she spends her entire young adult life living for everyone else and i just want her to be happy and healthy <3
zuko (and azula) from ATLA:
water tribe siblings got crippling codependency and my fire nation babies got slapped with bpd allegations, but what can you do. zuko is honestly probably my most favorite character of all time, 100% my favorite from childhood, and i've always had a soft spot for azula especially given her younger age in the story.
i think they're both fairly external though zuko tends to control himself more (LOL cut to him breathing fire when agitated in s1) out of a sense of shame (i also think he is autistic!) + azula originally has more intense symptoms that lean psychotic. they both operate from a place of seeking validation from ozai, even though he's horrifically abusive, showing the different ways siblings can be raised in this environment.
zuko's arc is one of, if not the, best redemption arc in media and it's gone on to inspire tons of other stories. watching him grow and overcome the damage ozai inflicts on him, building up a community of his own with iroh and the gaang, has always inspired me. a lot of people have issues with him in the comics but i personally felt like he was very much in character, and the relapse he faces is important. reaching any sort of remission isn't a straight line, it's a spiral, and seeing him pull himself out of it again and recover is great rep! (he's also still mostly a teen in the comics, going through the kind of growth a lot of borderlines don't find until much later in life). he's always going to be haunted by his past, but over time he learns how to not let it take over especially in times of stress. whatever they fed him in s2 of the live action just made it all worse for me in terms of viewing him as a borderline lol 'you don't Get to abandon me, you don't get that choice. i'm not gonna let you.' the nightmare sequence with him holding his head to stop the distressing thoughts ?? dallas has just woven so much into his story and never disappoints me
same with natla azula, there's a vulnerability (that i think comes from her older age) that we didn't see until the very end inside the og cartoon. she's never given the care she needs (though zuko does try to look after her as best he can post war), and she ends up even sicker in the comics. i've never gotten over that uncle iroh of all people just writes her off as Crazy and calls it a day, going so far as to imply they should kill her along with ozai. she's 14!!!!!!!! but zuko can never truly give up on her even when she hurts him, especially once he sees how bad she's cracking under the pressure, realizing that she's dealing with everything he dealt with but there's all that lost time where she was forced to weather it alone. she's put on this cursed pedestal by ozai and even when she's practically perfect, she's never exactly what he wants. neither one of them can live up to the family expectations because they need to write their own destiny, but it's almost impossible for her to see herself outside of that golden child shell. her story is heartbreaking regardless of what PD lens you're viewing her through, and she's definitely a character that shows the darker side of how bad things can get with unchecked symptoms.
the vampire lestat (book + amc show):
liiiiiiiisten, i've held my tongue for so long but he's been my ride or die for a huge chunk of my life. (he was my first vampire, i read family copies of the chronicles before twilight lol) but such a huge chunk of the fandom despises him, and by extension his fans, and that kind of atmosphere is way too toxic for me to engage with and enjoy. the newest adaption definitely made some changes that altered people's perception of his character in an intense way (that crash out split was not for the faint of heart and pretty ooc in terms of book!stat @ louis), but i've personally still seen my fav guy under the big bad wolf fur since s1.
he's such a comfort character for me and one of my earliest PD coded characters, i love that the adaption has leaned into and atp confirmed that even he's aware of it. book!stat goes through longer periods of highs and lows, pushing him closer to maybe being bipolar, but i think show!stat is clearly a borderline with a touch of NPD, or at least just narc coded traits. imo he's a pretty classic external (but i do think he becomes more internal as life goes on and he starts getting some control of his symptoms, so by the time we're meeting him he's repressing quite a bit! (ik, ik, hard to believe if you only take louis side lol) if you like the subtypes i think he fits nicely in petulant + self-destructive, but he does have overlapping traits with NPD which makes a lot of fans put him in that camp. as i've mentioned with characters like TL, you can have both. (personally i think the inflated self-image vs crushing self-doubt just speaks to the bpd fragile sense of self symptom).
lestat is incredible rep in terms of the intense personal growth we see him make throughout the full story. in the books especially he has an unshakeable love for life no matter how bad things get (which they've mellowed in the show to make him more overtly cynical, but i still think we see it come through often enough; most especially with his music scenes and the joy he's finding on stage, but you can go back to the s1 opera moments and see it there, too). his sense of self is super interesting to me because he walks the line of loving himself completely and owning his flaws, to also being crippled by the fear that he'll never actually be enough for the people he loves. it's partially why we see him over sexualize himself so much, a fact i was happy for them to start addressing in s3 now that the full fandom knows about his extensive history of sexual abuse and assault. i personally haven't stopped thinking about the panic attack scene, it's one of the best things ive ever watched. the way his body rejects the rationalization and he starts puking from the fear of louis being upset enough to leave again, to the breakdown of trying to explain that louis is also sick, but les has never held it against him or thought worse of him for it. the full collapse under the weight of his emotions finally boiling over ?? it's just incredible to me i thought they both did a fantastic job.
obviously getting his full backstory isn't going to change everyone's vibe on him, but at the end of the day he's been the MC since s1. the story as a whole revolves around him, even if his world revolves around louis - which is why loustat is at the core of the whole thing.
like i said, i've almost never spoken about him until now that s3 is coming out because the hate you can get for liking him is exhausting - but it's also basically impossible to discuss him properly unless you Know why he is the way he is. you really need all the layers to then go back and look at s1-2 with new eyes - again, something not a lot of people wanna do. i've personally liked most of the changes they've made for his show version (i had major reservations about the drop and it's one of the things that verges the dynamics the most between book and show, but ultimately viewing it just inside the show world i like that it explores what a massive split could look like in terms of them being vampires. i didn't totally love the switch between the dynamics for loumand and lesmand at the end of s3, but i feel like until we see how s4 unfolds it's hard to know for sure. the more i sit with it the less it bothers me, but again it's a show you have to watch more than once to fully unpack.) then there's small things like making les agree to kill his family, which is a HUGE change from the book dynamic - where he took care of them after decades of abuse despite how badly they hurt him. (crazy work to cut that piece of him out lol it really speaks to why he lingers in dynamics that cause him pain, in the hopes that it will work out in the end). i think sam has proven time and time again that despite the changes he Understands lestat as a whole. he brought him to life in such a loving way that it's genuinely hard for me when people are like "he's Actually the devil from the bible he should've died for real" liiiiike, i hear you but also he's perfectly imperfect to me <3
the vampire louis (amc show):
since the loustat brainrot is so so so real rn lets just do him as well lol
jacob's portrayal is perfection and i adore his version of louis more than any of the others! they added complexity to his story and character that really made me love him. it's also nice getting to see lestat's pov of him now in s3 and how the two overlap. (it kills me that they both see the other as cooler than they are lol like you're both fucking wrecks just stay together and stop the divorce nonsense istg) it's also really nice to see more of his darker side portrayed not as simply brooding but powerful ?? scary ?? like there's clearly a reason they match each other's freak i fear and a lot of fans have missed it by acting like louis is Kind and Sweet and only ever the Victim. did we all just miss his mistreatment of armand ?? the way he weaponizes lestat's trigger points for his own gain ?? the claudia situation as a whole ??? just like lestat says: louis is both angry, stubborn, unaccommodating, maddening AND loving, dedicated + thoughtful. he's imperfectly perfect, just like everyone else.
we've seen bits and pieces of the abuse louis faced to end up the way he is, and i love that they brought paul back to confirm that their family is what made it so hard for him to express himself. when you add in his feelings of internalized homophobia it's clear that he's filled with just as much, if not more, shame than lestat but because he covers it up differently i feel like he gets significantly more sympathy. there seems to definitely be a thing where people who only watched without having book context believed him wholeheartedly, but we're hopefully shattering that illusion now and it's mostly Excellent to me. let him be just as messy and sad and broken pls and ty - this is a show about horrible vampires and i think they should all be allowed to be horrible, equally.
they really made sure the boys were foils to each other and i see that in the fact that louis is a more internal borderline as well. (there's an argument to be made that he's bipolar or schizophrenic or maybe a combo as well, but i think the bpd is still clear). his more internal symptoms make a great contrast between the two of them as a pair and it really heightens their individual wounds + makes them work harder to understand each other. louis is great rep for anyone who spirals inward and suffers more in silence. armand's meddling aside, i love his confusion over his memories and the way his emotions cloud his versions of events. his inability to understand or voice his feelings is always going to lead to crippling issues with someone like lestat, and i'm personally soo excited to watch them figure it all out together. the parts of him we started to see coming out right at the end of s3 make me giddy to see where things are going, he's really started opening up and finding his honesty which is lovely to see after so long listening to him mostly lie.
elphaba from wicked (mostly the musical and movie):
MY SWEET WITCHY GIRL!!
coming in Hot with bpd allegations yet again (and autism imo!) we watch her go through multiple favorite people arcs: with nessa and galinda being the most obvious. her attachments to MM and the wizard are also colored by rose colored idealization glasses. one of her only honest friendships is with dr. dillamond (and i think maybe in the movie there might have been some understanding with boq if they hadn't cut those scenes!) i LOVE that she isn't swayed by fiyero in the beginning, because she can't stand that he's lying about who he is. he very quickly becomes a close friend and her crush, once she sees under his mask and realizes how much they understand each other she can't help but love him. (we don't have time to unpack her choice between him and galinda, but it really boils down to him being willing to fight for her + their love in a way galinda won't). she has to work for galinda's attention and approval in the beginning, the same way she has with everyone else for her whole life - but dr. d and fiyero love her exactly as she is.
throughout the story she struggles to see the truth of people's actions and often sees the best in people even when she shouldn't, even when her instincts are telling her not to. she self isolates while also craving community and acceptance. she blames herself for everything that goes wrong until realizing she's been lied to for her whole life. she overextends herself in hope of finally being enough for the people she loves / wants love from. she is excellent rep for overcoming symptoms, as after she finally runs away from oz, she makes the choice to fill the FP void in her chest with love for herself and her own goals, which makes it possible for her to later be with fiyero in a safe and healthy dynamic. i'm so glad she gets her happy ending!! ah!!
cardan and jude from the folk of the air series:
listen, words can't express what these two mean to me, seperate and apart. truly one of my favorite otp's of all time.
i fear most fae catch NPD allegations and my baby cardan is no different <3 he's one of my top 3 book boys fr tho like that's the loml lol i think he is probably borderline + NPD (though most of the time i just think he has narcissistic traits, like with lestat idk if i would label either one of them a True narcissist). we all saw those damn letters, don't play with me, that's borderline levels of yearning.
there's a veryyy clear argument to be made for jude having bpd traits as well: peep that simmering temper, fear of scaring her loved ones away, deep desire for but never feeling accepted, not to mention the fact she 100% BELIEVES he lied about the marriage oh my Goddd. honestly i could write whole essays on 'and then, a beat too late, Cardan laughs with them.' and what that scene did to me the first time i read it. pair that with his: 'i have not made myself easy to love' moment and it's just 10/10 all around.
i adore jude in the books (as someone who can almost never ever ever read 1st person), and i'm glad she's allowed to be angry and scary and just as cruel as him. her feelings of guilt around her love for madoc and the loss of her mortal family, grappling with owning the fact that she's his daughter and she's capable of bringing death just as he did, her issues with taryn and the desire she has to protect her even after being betrayed (more than once!!!!) - ughhh it's just so good. meanwhile cardan's fighting for his life with that crippling self-doubt, generational trauma, alcoholism, sibling angst, fears around weakness, staying friends with his cheating ex + best friend because he'd rather have them than be alone jfcccc !! love that they truly struggle to trust each other and have to repair things bit by bit instead of insta-love. adore that they have matching parental wounds and get to teach each other what real love looks like. they're one of the only examples of this dynamic being safe and healing for both of them and it makes me so happy, may they rule elfhame together forever and ever amen
sherlock (bumblebee cucumber's addition):
my second favorite high functioning sociopath. i think about him every time i plug my phone in even though i haven't rewatched in years. i like that he's constantly battling his symptoms especially with his special people, i like his stupidly smart brain (and the way they show it on screen), i like that he routinely slips into very dark places, i would probably strangle him IRL but wow i love him and this show! (not the ending. never the ending.)
love quinn from you:
love my beloved <3 another one for the bpd books, taken from us too soon by the curse of falling for a man who loves his ego above all else. (while i think he also has bpd/npd/some cluster of things, i do not like joe much at all. he gets on my nerves start to finish, but he's most tolerable in her season imo. he's very accurate rep in a lot of ways, but his inability to find any sort of growth at all gives me such ick).
i wish we'd have gotten them together as a toxic power couple, i think it would've been really fun to see their possessiveness play out on screen more long term. the rain fight lives in my head rent free no one is doing 'ILL KILL YOU + ILL KILL YOU FIRST' like them i fear. love the way her memories slowly unravel, the type of lying she does to dance around the truth of things, and her insane capacity for empathy and love despite the many, many Horrors.
joker and harley quinn:
easilyyyy one of my favorite bpd x npd couples are we kidding ?? i've loved them since i was a kid even tho every iteration is ✨bad bad bad toxic terrible eeeevil push him off a bridge girl free yourself✨
their story being that he drives her to insanity and draws out + triggers all of her symptoms is such a true to life portrayal of the dynamic. but just like with violate, i love that he ends up in over his head and also falls for her in the ways he can. i don't want them to stay together by any means, but i love the moments we get while they are.
sidenote: i wish margot's harley had met heath's joker real real bad
jinx from arcane:
you guessed it! more bpd allegations!
i loveeee jinx and i love the way they depicted her bpd, i think the graphics around her splits + symptoms are some of the coolest scenes out there. that moment where redacted dies and she's hugging him and his phantom hand is holding her back ???? ugh, yeah. since we get to see her growing up, we're able to watch as her symptoms develop and she works to overcome some, while still being really stunted by others. i also love her relationship with ekko and the way he attempts to love her fully, even if it's tragic. big desire to be needed and cursed sibling angst as well she just has everything!
tate langdon from AHS murder house:
your honor do NOT free my evil blonde son he did all of it and he deserves prison but look at that smile! violet sweetheart i understand! i think you can apply NPD or BPD depending on your chosen lens, but i go with budding covert NPD for him just like his evil mommy. i've gone into detail on my thoughts on him here and on yt, but murder house is a comfort rewatch for me so he stays on my mind. i will always like the way tate's story ultimately raps up, with him making the choice for active change + accountability in the end.
constance langdon from AHS murder house:
the aforementioned evil mommy <33 i hate hate hate constance but i also think she's INCREDIBLE. so well written and acted, truly so fun to watch and root against. there's enough layers to her story to make you sympathize with her while also wanting her to never ever ever get what she wants again. the subtle scary ways she shows her NPD symptoms with the boys vs the jarring nightmarish way she presents them with moira, violet and viv ?? yes, 10/10. the emotional manipulation, the withholding affection as punishment, the verbal cruelty ?????? god she's so perfect
house from house:
listen i have such a crush on this intolerable old man. he's got a lot of ASPD, a touch of NPD, and my heart forever.
marvel loki:
and here you have the only reason i watch the thor + avengers movies! i fear he's such a textbook character for me to like: he delivers sibling angst, parental issues, desire to fit in that turns to all consuming need for complete control, shifting self-image, fits of rage, lying through his teeth to cover up his issues, magiccccc and much more.
i view him as having some kind of BPD + NPD combo, but again the symptoms overlap, so who's to say. tom brings such a lovely sense of vulnerability to his scenes that imo helps you relate to him even when he's being truly diabolical. it's also what ties him closest to norse mythology loki, as most of the marvel storyline is just a hodgepodge of the eddas without really caring about keeping things accurate.
i haven't rewatched his spin off show yet because it broke me into a thousand tiny pieces and i still can't look at Yggdrasil the same. rip baby kinda gone but never forgotten <3
bellatrix lestrange from HP:
she's my most redone halloween character and the demented loml <3 i put her in the ASPD camp but you could very easily push her right over into psychopath territory and she'd be perfectly at home. there's such a vicious vindictiveness to her character on one side, but then just a truly chaotic element as well that makes her trigger happy in the scariest way. even with her family she'll still turn on them on a dime and should never be trusted with anything, ever. she's one of my all time favorite villains, if not my favorite villainous FMC.
anakin skywalker from starwars:
do i even need to explain myself or...like you get it, right? you see it?
yeah so i crushed on him as a young teen, i'm crushing on him as we speak, it just doesn't go away lol like that's my youngling killer fr. his relationship with padme makes me want to throw myself into the lava, it's so unbelievably heartbreaking to watch them fall apart. do not speak to me about the ancient texts: 'you're going down a path i can't follow! i love you - liar' ???? ty sm but im not hungry. pretty sure this is where my 'he'd burn the world for you' fixation began.
i love the amount of time we see him fighting the influence of the dark side, trying really hard to stay good and stay with padme and the light - but also being so seduced by his desire to protect (and the power needed to do it) that he crumbles. i find characters with power this extreme that can either turn good or bad to be fascinating, it just adds such a delicious mess to the story watching them try to decide what path to take.
yet another of my borderline boys, so very sorry the demons got you in the end, king <3
clementine from ESOTSM:
olivia's the cure just starts playing whenever she walks into the room i know it for a fact because i was there! another borderline girlie, but she's more internal a lot of the time. she struggles to let people in and worries about what will happen when she does. she showcases the self sabotage bpd trait really well, because she projects her fears onto the present and then runs before things can actually go south. the melancholy elements to her character really accentuates the bpd emptiness, and coupled with the way she tries to present as colorful to cover it up it's !! incredible.
this is one of those movies i have to take years between rewatches because it's just too much. this scene above, the hallway argument, the scene on the ice, the moment he realizes she really did erase her memories ???? enough.
agatha harkness from marvel:
ohhhhh agatha my most beloved witch <3
another of my sometimes pretty fucking evil ASPD queens, she is so so so so special to me. i really enjoyed her in wanda vision, but getting a full spinoff centered on her just took it over the edge for me. the entire show is a masterpiece, but her character portrayal and design really stuck with me. she reeeeally shows off the ASPD dynamic of Only caring for a few select people, and genuinely having total disregard for everyone else. and the lying !! she'll make you believe she cares, or she's starting to care, or maybe she could care tomorrow - and then drain you dry without a second thought. i love the well roundedness of her, like the fact that she's allowed to be both a serial killer and a loving mother. who else is doing that ?? come on, she's god tier.
dean winchester from supernatural:
AHHHHHHHH my MAN my man my man. dean is borderline asf, i truly dont know how to view him as anything else. have you seen: the crash out temper, the hypersexuality, the emotional instability, the unshakable devotion to sam, the inability to walk away from john in hopes that This Time he can make him proud enough to stay, just cut the cameras.
i'm such a sucker for complex family and sibling drama so this show is deeply special to me, but deans arc and the weight on his shoulders as the eldest really hits. getting to watch him navigate his emotions and grow to open up more and more, especially with people like sam and cas, makes the show for me.
Anne from anne with an e:
so this is my comfort reset show lol if things feel overly bleak irl i just pull anne with an e out and suddenly all is well in my soul again <3
my sweet creative girl has budding BPD i fear, but we don't follow her into adulthood and we're left with the impression that much of it mellows and heals as she does. she still ends up with several things that could be classed as symptoms, most obviously her fear of abandonment that leads her into overextending to prove her worth. i do think a lot of what she struggles with in s1 is very much mellowed by the time she reaches school, so she's slowly but surely learning how to live with her own mind and big feelings without apology. (though what i really adore about her is that she rarely feels the need to apologize for being herself - she has that double edged sword mentality of loving who she is and understanding it will make things hard for her to find community). so as you can imagine watching people like diana, gilbert, cole and ka'kwet love her right from the jump hits me like a ton of bricks every time !! the kindred spirit concept follows me day to day, it's just such a gorgeous sentiment when it comes to finding real friends.
like i mentioned with fiona and les, anne has an incredible ability to hold onto her whimsy and joy, despite facing some truly horrific circumstances. she finds happiness all around her, living in a near constant state of storytelling to romanticize even the smallest, most mundane parts of her life. some of her biggest outbursts (cause she does have a Very intense and explosive temper), come from people trying to crush this trait out of her, as it's the only thing that has kept her sane and alive. i think you can see it in many other bpd characters as well, and it's almost always what i love most about them.
how lucky are we to live in a world with octobers!!
Missy from Doctor Who:
so i'm not 100% sure on what's going on in that Perfectly demented head of hers but things are leaning heavily towards psychopathy. she is my favorite master variant by a long shot, just truly such an amazing character i love her episodes so much
maleficent from sleeping beauty:
she was my favorite animated lady as a child and then they made the live action prequels and istg my soul left my body like those movies are just !!! so comforting to me. watching her go from this loving trusting sunshine fae girl to this ^^^^^^^ yeah, sign me up. and then as the story unfolds and we watch her release some of that anger + the walls she put up after stefan's abuse, showing us that underneath she's still that hopeful, loving, gentle person she was before ???? they wrote her in such a compelling way, giving her the chance to play with how she could cover her insecurities and pain with cruelty, while also keeping space for those older, kinder traits to shine through (like when she saves baby aurora from falling off the cliff).
speaking of her daughter: i'm so obsessed with the way that aurora is NEVER frightened of her (until she learns of the curse), instead viewing mal's differences as something unique and interesting and beautiful in their own ways. don't even get me started on diaval loving her unconditionally, despite her flaws, and trying instead to encourage her to be the person he knows she truly is and can be again ???
i'd once again call it bpd, maybe a touch of ASPD as well, but either way she's perfect to me <33
scar from the lion king:
don't even get me staaaaaaaaarted !!!!! NPD asf and it was your downfall in the end my man
regina / the evil queen from OUAT:
my sweet heartbroken girl <3
she represents one of my favorite things to see in media, in which the BPD human is pushed so far past their breaking point they loop around into malicious evil villain land (hi lestat baby nice to see you again!). we also see her try to break the generational curse of her own mother being abusive, only to turn around and manipulate + control henry in similar ways. i love love LOVED regina from the jump, and putting together the bits and pieces of her backstory was so fun the first time i watched the show. there's so much to unpack with her psycho narc of a mother, the gentleness of her father that we see in her !!! and that she clings to, DANIEL - not to mention robin jfc )):
her reactions to snow are so extreme but when you layer on the BPD lens it all just clicks into place for me, and that crushing desire to right the wrongs that have been done to her makes perfect sense. while i know they committed to her being truly diabolically evil, i still wish that they would've also committed to giving her a better ending. i fear she should've been endgame with robin, and we could've seen her explore how to redeem herself (though she did PLENTY to earn that imo anyway, even if several characters can't even fully forgive her). if uncle iroh can start over in his tea shop, why can't regina find happiness ????
i was also a swanqueen shipper, and i think there's a lot that could've been unpacked with emma in terms of their similarities and the way they reacted to their mutual trauma. (they kind of have a weird lesmand element to them - where they're clearly mirrors and so they wind up hating and loving each other all at once). ultimately i wanted more for her, which is how i felt for most of the show, and the way she was treated by the narrative just turned me off the ending.
miranda priestly from DWP:
she's an icon, she's a legend, and she is a narcissist. the first movie is an all time favorite of mine truly nothing beats it
Wednesday Addams from the addams family / the musical / wednesday:
i love every version of her idk how i could ever pick between them lol she's always been a massive comfort character for me (really the addams in general are), and for all the issues i have with the newest show i still love wednesday completely. i think she falls really easily into ASPD, but you could also just look at her and think she's autistic. either way, she shows us that she struggles with empathy, is prone to violence, and lacks regard for social norms - so it makes sense that she's often labeled as being sociopathic.
in the new show, i adore her dynamic with tyler (special shout out to him cause ik that boy's dealing with the bpd demons). they act as mirrors in a lot of ways and that being the thing that keeps them from ever truly destroying each other is a trope i will devour every damn time. i also love getting to see her navigate a relationship with enid and how they go from hating to loving each other, but never really get rid of the struggles wednesday faces trying to let people be close to her.
rocket from GotG:
they didn't have to make him so perfectly memorable and yet here i am, remembering him constantly. my guy is battling many things out there in space, including raging bpd allegations.
some honorable mentions:
i've watched bojack horseman exactly ONE (1) time but i fear i will never forget the way it made me feel
glinda and fiyero my beloved NPD allegation twins (saw someone make an argument for glinda having BPD as well so take your pick)
tiffany from silver lining's playbook if for nothing else but that 'you think i'm crazier than you?' moment. 10/10, hit him again.
jay gatsby but mostly leo's interpretation because i am, at the end of the day, just a girl
mother gothel from rapunzel, i see your ASPD/NPD and i can't wait to watch it unfold in the live action. kathyrn hahn will be playing her and i just know in my very bones it's going to be perfection <3
cat from criminal minds - aubrey plaza could play anything and i'd love it but she does sociopathic women best
nancy from the craft, my precious witchy girl absolutely has something deeper going on and in another life she'd have gotten help for her obvious religious psychosis
dexter, my guy just casually floating somewhere between socio and psycho given the day
okay so yes wow there are a lot of them lol i would say i tend to prefer PD characters that are working on themselves (but sometimes those villainous ones sneak in). i typically find it much more compelling to watch characters struggle with their natures and strive to be and do better, rather than just give in and sink down into the abyss. end of s6 kai i am looking directly at You, come back home and put the knife down -

Bonnie stares at Kai through the gathering flurries, struggling to understand how on earth they’ve gotten so far away from their original conversation.
“Why are you doing this?” she asks, resisting the urge to draw back from him, though everything in her wants to be far, far away.
“Because you won’t listen to me,” Kai snaps. “You never fucking listen. You surround yourself with horrible people and then you wonder why you end up getting hurt! At this point, some of it’s your fault-,”
Her magic crackles through the air loud enough to make Kai flinch, but all it does is make him laugh.
****
Hesitating for only a moment, Bonnie lets herself worry over whether or not she might be making things up, before she begrudgingly gives in and clicks the contact number for Rudy’s home office line. Thankfully it rings, her heart racing along with the dial tone as she waits for it to connect.
It’s after midnight in Portland, but someone picks up almost instantly.
“Kai?” she asks into the silence, dropping her phone to the tiles when static explodes from his side of the line.

"my lord with all your heirs are you not worried of a succession crisis." Said the advisor "trust I have asked them many times and all but two deny the throne." Said the king "my oldest thinks it's his obligation to take it and my youngest thinks it allows her to eat ice cream for dinner."

tagged by @nevereverthem to share my WIP titles, and i fear i also have so many lol most of them aren't ff rn but here they are:
you built this cage: my current bonkai ✨ should be fully uploaded by the end of the summer, i'm just nitpicking the final chapters now (+ i skipped last weekend due to the holiday). inspired by AHS murder house, focused on bon's pov, mental health stuff, ghosts + haunted house vibes, the reader should be as confused as she is etc etc. my work doc for this one is actually huge so y'all might get bonus chaps, idk lol
the forgotten legacy: the first book in my Witch Trials series, centered on my bonkai inspired OC's, Eli and Rhea. i moved over to using physical copies at the start of the year to lessen distraction and i've been doing a full revision + rewrite the past few months. it's intense and overwhelming at times but worth it, i find new things each time i sit down for a session with them. lots of magic, folklore, mental health + family struggles, and romantasy drama.
a voice that beckons: book one for my dark fantasy peter pan retelling, about a mortal girl who gets sucked unwillingly into a life in Tir N’aill. this manuscript becomes closer darker each time i revisit, but i'm really happy with where it's gone since feb of this year. i've been rereading TFOTA yet again and feeling very inspired, so things have been evolving in the second book, a call that deafens, too. 🧚
the dead and not quite buried: the second book in the WT series, i work in here whenever i need a break from book one. more focus on my version of the otherside, the ghosts and paranormal inside this world.
currently untitled, 4th WT story: this book will focus on my OC's parents, Joshua and Blythe Attwood. they've been unreasonably loud the last month or so, i keep writing random scenes for them + their third wheel bestie, Elias, mostly against my will 🫣
bury my love, in the moondust: a zutara fix it + arranged marriage fic i started ages ago and revisited when the movie leaks dropped. i have a feeling the new season coming this week isn't going to help things lol
hits different verse: i'm still working in by the way, i forgive you but it was started as a writing exercise that i no longer currently need, so my drive to finish it went away. i have 5 different HD bonus chaps in various stages of completion but i just never know when this verse will call to me.
if you believe: i'll be coming back to this bonkai by the fall (i hope) as it's only a few chaps away from being finished. the tense has been partially changed from past to present (which is my norm for fic, i'm not sure what possessed me to start this one in past). wish i had better news for heavy in your arms fans, but it hasn't brought me joy in a long time and atp i'd want to redo it before continuing. maybe one day.
random loustat brainrot: now that his season is FINALLY coming out i can free myself as a lifelong the vampire lestat stan 🙌🏼 i'm quite literally dying for each new ep, i feel like baby kai craving magic jfccc i did a full rewatch to prep for s3 and now i have a 50 page yt script along with pages upon pages of book + amc lestat thoughts that i'm not sure what to do with yet ?? who knows
I'm tagging @so-long-soldier-writes and anyone else who wants to share!
