Out of all the dragon slayers, Wendy is the one Igneel likes the most (except for Natsu, of course). If you ask him why, he would have trouble answering you. There is just this instant like that came over him after spending an evening with her.

Of course, like many of his encounters with his fellow dragons’ kids, crossing paths with Wendy involved some kind of incident.

It was incredible how, despite having thought of almost every scenario, he never thought it possible for the mountain to crumble.

Now, sitting besides it, with a little pain from being struck with a rock, Igneel wonders how he didn’t predict a bad outcome. Thinking back to it, he probably should have. 

But then, thanks to this, a little girl with blue hair and a flying cat went to investigate the incident, and found a big, red dragon watching with amusement and ton of rocks.

Igneel registered the scent she carried. It was familiar, but not quite, and it reminded him of someone.

Grandeeney.

And before the girl could even open her mouth to adress the situation, Igneel was already in fron of her, laying down, looking excited.

“You’re Wendy!” Grandeeney always talks about her, he feels he knows her already. “Am I right? You kind of smell like Grandeeney.”

A positive answer is what she gives him, and after a moment of hesitation she asks if he’s Igneel, Natsu’s dragon dad.

“Yep, that’s me!”

After that dialogue he does not remember exactly what happened. They continued talking, it was the first time he held a conversation longer than 30 seconds with another dragon slayer, which was both refreshing and fun.

Somehow, Wendy ended up healing the little cut he got between the eyes thanks to the fallen rock, for which he expressed his gratitude. Soon, sadly, their time came to an end.It was getting dark, and with a promise that she would come back another day, perhaps with Natsu, Wendy left quickly, trying to get home.

“The one and only, kid. And you must be Skiadrum’s kid, Rogue. Am I right?”
