Though Quinn is still smirking, his eyes went wide.

Tank - " This is not death but it exactly what you deserve. "

Quinn start laughing and Asher balls his fist and lunges at Quinn even though tank is in the way but David steps in front of him blocking his path.

Sam whispers to Sweetheart - " Didn't see that coming. "

David - " They are correct. Quinn does not deserve to die. He must pay for his doings. "

Milo - " You guys, What's happened to you? "

A bloody, shaking, pissed off Angel and Babe move from the corner they where in.

Babe - " We've been busy...."

Babe winced in pain and Angel wrapped their arm around their shoulder to keep them steady

Angel - " being tortured "

David - " That is not the point. THE POINT

David turns to face Quinn from behind Tank

David - " is that Quinn shouldn't be allowed to die. "

David looks to both Angel and Babe

David - " Not after what he's done "

Milo - " What so your helping him now? "

David - " Not helping him. just keeping him alive. "

Asher - " Is all of this really worth it. I understand your anger but-

Tank now pissed snaps around a grabs Asher by the shirt

Tank - " YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND OUR ANGER! "

Tank in a shaky pissed off voice - "If you did...you wouldn't be killing him so soon."

K: "When are you having kids?"

D: "I'm literally aromantic and asexual."

If they never knew they were empowered, then their memories would have been wiped and they never would have gone to DAMN.

If they never went to DAMN and had the drive to master their powers, they never would have tried out for the E&E Games.

If they never went, then Sam and Vincent never would have went to accompany them for the medal presentation and closing ceremony.

If Vincent never went, all the people he defended would have died to all the Shades that were supposed to target him.

If Sam never went, he wouldn’t have been able to talk David through healing Asher, and be the voice of reason that wound David back when he was spread too thin.

1,500 people died in the Inversion. By just that one change in the timeline, how many more would have died?

Meanwhile their jaw is still dropped in awe

Angel elbows them, leaning in.

They’d need to tell Sam, god this is so embarrassing. What kind of adult still gets cavities, and fucking gingivitis?! But they’d have to see him, he was waiting outside in his truck and he would immediately know something was wrong. Time to rip off the bandaid.

He was entertaining himself with Solitaire on his phone, he wasn’t very good, and perked up when they knocked on the window.

“Hey, Darlin’,” he grinned as he unlocked the door and they jumped in. “How was it?” With downcast eyes, they handed him the bill. “Oh, Lord. Three thousand dollars?”

Tears stung their eyes, sliding down their face as they nodded. “I’m sorry.”

“You don’t gotta apologize. Is this something you’ve been struggling with?”

“Well, I— I hate shit touching my teeth and the mint toothpaste hurts my brain and the electric toothbrush makes my teeth all itchy and it just never feels worth it to brush them until they start hurting.” The entire appointment had been hell, bright lights, loud buzzing, people in their mouth, sharp scraping, the taste of blood, and seeing every person cringe when they admitted they don’t remember the last time they flossed. “I’m gross, I’m sorry, I know this is all childish.”

“No, no, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. We’ll sort this out.” They slumped into his side, sulking still.

“Could we grab some food on the way home?”
