And now all of us who are white women need to talk to the 65% of other white women who voted for Moore, who is:
- an alleged paedophile and molester,
- a sexist, misogynistic piece of shit
- an endorser and supporter of the views held by Doug Phillips, (disgraced) leader of Vision Forum, which promoted stripping women of the vote, and preached dominionism and the âquiverfulâ movement (until Phillips was busted for illicit intercourse with his childrenâs nanny!) -
and tell these women (who clearly donât get that even if they canât support their black sisters because their racism is stronger than their female solidarity then simple self-interest should stop them voting for a politician who wants to strip them of the vote) that they need to consider where they stand.
We need to educate. Persuade. Inform. Question. Challenge.
Iâm not American. Thereâs no-one down the road from me in Alabama that I can speak to. But Iâm going to call out every woman I know here who puts racism ahead of female solidarity. Who colludes with the patriarchy for a share of privilege. Who hangs onto the coat-tails of those in power for a drop of glory. Who thinks that because theyâre one of the haves, the have-not donât matter.
(I call men out all the time: no change there then. But we all of us need to make more of an effort.)
We must understand our own part in this.
