Look, I get it. I would have loved it if they had hugged when reunited or something, and all of you are right it does feel lacking in the romance/platonic/closeness aspect, but that’s not to say that nothing had a point and it was all bad.

What about them actually communicating and establishing their priorities clearly for once? What about them actually working together and coming to a decision that benefits, literally above all else, their ONE SHARED FAVORITE THING?? yk, very similar to the basis of their *entire relationship*. WHAT ABOUT THEM ACTUALLY BEING IN THE SAME SIDE. LOOKING EYE TO EYE. ACTUALLY TRUSTING AND UNDERSTANDING EACH OTHER. FACING THE FORCES THAT GRANTED THEM POWER, PERSPECTIVE AND EXISTENCE AND /STILL/ CHOOSING. EACH OTHER?? what about them finally finding peace with their differences and growing form them and PHYSICALLY STAYING SIDE BY SIDE AS A COMPLEMENTARY UNIT AT THE END OF THEIR LIVES something that they weren’t even supposed to have mind you NOT FOR ANYONE ELSE’S SAKE BUT FOR ONCE FOR THEIR OWN DESIRE TO BE TOGETHER

“The human version isn’t even them” you are absolutely right, the aziracrow that we knew and loved died in the book shop at the end of times. They were given as much closure as a 90-minute finale under these conditions would allow. And you are welcomed to stay with what ever that makes you feel as an ending for characters you loved. The human versions fall somewhere between a fandom AU and Job’s new 7 children after we just lost the 2 original children we loved. But it honestly doesn’t feel like that was the intention, it feels like they still wanted to give us a visual of the domestic, happy ending they deserved even if they didn’t have enough time or resources to justify it trough plot and story telling/film-making elements.

From my perspective, that was someone going “it makes sense for them to end here, but we can also give a visual of how they could have been if we had more time and means to give them what they deserve. The ending we would have wanted to give them, as it were. We just need an excuse to give people te visual after the story is done, a little “what if” epilogue that lifts the viewer’s spirits up a bit after EFFECTIVELY DOUBLE SUICIDE FOR THE SAKE OF their shared hyperfixation ALL HUMAN KIND.”

“It was so rushed and made no sense” …yeah no shit it was a 90-MINUTE SEASON. Also, zombies and pizza Jesus in the surreal dream-like landscape that was that last episode don’t make any sense, but defeating the 4 horse man of the apocalypse with the power of friendship and corny statements does? It was never about making sense??? It was about human character and spirit and decision making and whimsy and enjoying the shared surreal experience of being human. And this last goodbye, as flawed as it is, still conserves that spirit, even if circumstance has ripped most of anything else from it.

Now, I’m not saying it’s perfect. And I’m not even saying it’s good. But I am saying that *if* this is the best we could get, well, at least it was somewhat coherent, somewhat beautiful and somewhat silly. I am saying that in a world where most series about hope and queerness don’t even GET a chance to say goodbye, im glad my favorite show at least for a shot to finish in it own terms. I am saying that a lot of people put a LOT of work into making this as good as it can be only for the people they were doing it for to turn around and disregard Avery thing salvageable they manage to slip into the ending, only because it wasn’t what they were expecting or what they wanted, let alone deserved. You have a right to be angry. You have a right to be disappointed. And we are all sad together in this, whatever thoughts about the finale aside. But how about we dial it down on the mindless hating for the sake of hating and focus on actually appreciating that we did get an ending, even with all the flaws that entailed, and the collective mourning period that a finale signifies for a fandom.
