IDFA DOC U Award winner Sonita. Sonita, herself, speaks with Mabel van Oranje and other NGO’s about the worldwide problem of child marriage. Afterwards she performs the song she wrote about her own experiences.

Viewing of Mavis!, a film about gospel singer Mavis Staples. Closed off with a performance of the band MY BABY, playing a few songs from the repertoire of the Staple Singers.

Viewing of What Happened, Miss Simone? closed off with a Q&A with producer Amy Hobby and performances of several musicians of the Nina Simone (A)live Tour.

Young IDFA program: the director of Martha & Niki and Niki herself talk about the making of the film. Afterwards Niki performs with the Kulture Kids.

At IDFA event Meat the Makers, both meat producers and filmmakers shine a light on meat consumption. The cheerful show, with a serious undertone, shall be attended by filmmaker Marijn Frank (IDFA premiere ‘Need for Meat’) and cultured meat professor Mark Post. In addition, there will be a meat tasting by top chefs from the Alliance Network of Slow Food and as a visitor you get the opportunity to study meat in all its forms. Entrance: free!
