You're late, Godai!

🪲 welcome to my tokusatsu sideblog 🪲

Hi, I share my exact birthday, date and year, with Kamen Rider Kuuga (the show. not godai) we are the same age! I am eternally absolutely ecstatic about this.

I do like a variety of tokusatsu, but Kamen Rider Kuuga is my favourite show ever, so I'll be honest, the blog ends up being a lot of Kuuga! And also goichi--they're my absolute otp ever 💖

My other fave toku shows include go-onger, boonboomger, um omega, um arc, kr fourze & kr 555 (odd one out for sure)! 😊

I sometimes talk about stuff like writing fic here as it's where I do my fandom stuff and I don't really use my main! I've been writing a long, long goichi fic for over two years (still unposted 🫠👍) so really end up on that a lot.

Also, sometimes I just reblog beetles.

yes and no!!

i do sometimes wish i could experience the onset of love for kuuga again… it was one of my earlier kamen riders too (and it was partly motivated by the really silly reason of 'wait a second i share an Exact birthday with this show--day, month and year.. who knew that was #destiny lol) which probably wasn't good for every show i watched after it because it set such a standard in my heart and in some ways i do think genuinely makes it harder for me to love new media lol. because Well it isn't kuuga, is it?

it's hard to explain how quickly it onset and i just knew it was The Show for me and the 'oh no i love these characters' about goichi was (as well as the rest of the cast but like. i think it's clear i have favourites lol) and i don't think i've ever had such strong adoration for a piece of media set in… like, Honestly, i'm quite a fussy person and the only obsession of mine that comes close is my long, long love affair with guild wars 2 (which is quite different!--that's a whole mmo) so... to experience that new adoration like no other again would ofc be wonderful… i love kuuga so much… i talk about this tv show like it's my wife

BUT me and kuuga are like a married couple now… i'm out of the fluttery honeymoon phase but it is still my most favourite thing ever and though maybe i yearn for the bubbly feeling of newfound love and 'oh my god, this is going to be my favourite thing ever, isn't it?', i do just like How i think about it now. i feel every time i watch it (which is a lot!!) i notice and internalise more details (it's a shame i'm extremely averse to being a liveblogger-type cus i have so much i think i could say but i just don't find it a satisfying way to consume media, myself, so generally my bf is the only person who gets my deepest on-the-fly kuuga thoughts) and that's only an experience i can have had with repeat viewing of a Finished Show (i oft struggle to settle into incomplete media)… i think i've noticed a Lot of details that others haven't really (not a brag. i've seen this show like 10+ times so i would hope i have) and i really value that depth i have with it y'know…
