I planned on an illustration being made of Tetia for June, but I’m backed up on stuff so here’s food I made from witch hat kitchen I made for witch hat Monday instead:

Chapter 1’s Atelier-Style Mushroom and Bacon Croquettes

For this recipe, I suggest following the guide in Witch Hat Kitchen to a T; it’s perfect. You can also substitute the bacon (I used turkey bacon) like I did and still get the best results!

Chapter 5’s Witch-Hat Pasta with Parasol Jelly and Tomato Cream Sauce

I used Doreimani’s video as a guide for my process, especially for the pasta sauce cause the manga instructions didn’t help; so please go check out her video, “I Made Foods From WITCH HAT ATELIER 🥬🍎“ (I used imitation crab instead of smoked salmon in her video personally, but any meat for the sauce works) And I plan on using her second witch hat cooking video as a guide for my recipes next week!

ANYWAYS this ep was so good!!! Except for anytime Easthies was on screen I wanted to squish him with a hydraulic press. I hate that man.

I love how the knights of moralis look sm bro; but I can’t believe that Galga’s first on screen words were pointing out the obvious… He looks amazing though; and not to mention Luluci my goat is GLOWING

still rocking back and forth crying at her interaction with Custas and Dagda; he’s trying so hard to find a way to save his son 😭 I hate it here

I didn’t like the way they changed Richeh’s line in the anime where she says, “there’s nothing I hate more… than adults who treat kids like things instead of people” to “I really hate adults who think children are inhuman creatures called ‘children’” it irks me so much I just needed to vent that out; but I love the way that the girls save arcko was animated 🥹

The Coco Tartah interactions had me clutching my heart; they make me so sad bro. And the way he gets upset abt his silverwash…. My son 😭😭

Qifrey needs to leave poor Noalnoa alone istg this grandpa always be getting attacked by this man

I just had to draw a quick sketch of these two bro… seeing them on screen had me crying… father and son duo of all time

It’s the way Custas until the end of silver Eve thought he was a nuisance to Dagda that he just picked up; when Dagda from the beginning always saw him as his son…

I’m so excited to see Olruggio

The whole sequence with the girls running away was so perfect; the dragon?? Oh my gosh it was animated so well last ep but seeing it more in ep 5 it was sooooo gooood

from this point on I’ll be ranting lol (mostly abt Tetia ngl)

to start, I really love the part where Coco successfully crates a pyre ball spell because despite the strenuous life or death situation these girls are in, Tetia and Richeh could’ve easily been rude to Coco and chastised her for not doing something worthwhile to their escape. Instead they commend her for her successful spell work and even comment on her improvement showing that they recognize that she’s trying hard; which is just so meaningful not only to building their friendship, but rebuilding Coco’s esteem and I love it sosososo much… 🥺

Seeing the panel where Coco lends Tetia her cloak and sits beside her (one of my favorites) animated brought tears to my eyes no joke. I hate seeing Coco sad and this moment between her and Tetia… ya’ll it’s still my favorite (aside from Romnomon).

And also the way Tetia takes accountability in her apology… like yes she might’ve not said anything, but her recognizing the consequences of her actions that stemmed from fear and how that may have hurt Coco is so sweet 🥹 Tetia is such a good friend and I love seeing the mature communication between these girls.

Additionally, the fact that she feels the need to apologize more because as the more informed party between the two of them, she should be taking care of Coco instead of making her scared… Oughh my heart I cried. Tetia my daughter 😭

Moving on, I really like how the episode harks on the fact that yes execution and skill was needed for this plan to work, but it was Coco’s idea that got it started in the first place. Her keen eye that noticed the pyre attack wouldn’t have worked and would’ve put them in more danger, and instead bringing up Tetia’s spell as an alternative just serves to highlight just how creative/smart Coco is and just makes me love her more. It’s genuinely one of her best qualities.

Of course the other is her compassion; the fact that she wants to use this spell to bring Tetia’s dream to reality is so sweet. I feel like this is also another moment of just how deeply Qifrey’s words affected her in that these spells are supposed to bring joy to others; and I feel like her goal in this moment is to bring joy to the caster.

Combined with the fact that she wants to make a spell for the dragon that would make it feel comforted because it got hurt just shows how much love her little heart has to give to all manner of creatures. Not to mention she’s working with the intention to use a spell that will keep everyone from harm…

She is just so naive and empathetic at the same time, and the moment where she explains that spells that aren’t forbidden and serve to bring happiness convey these concepts so well with her dialogue; she sounds like such a hopeful kid it makes my heart ache 🥺 I can’t wait to see Qifrey, the other girls, and many more continue to nurture this mindset.

LEST I FORGET ONE OF THE HYPEST MOMENTS THIS EPISODE OH MY GOSH WHERE AGOTT WAS LEADING THE TEAM

my heart was pounding… the anticipation… the ANIMATION… I love seeing Agott continue to take on the role of leader (way to snag it Agott) and I love their teamwork here so much!!!

My favorite tid bits were Tetia pulling Coco up and the signaling between Coco and Richeh with their hats bc they really expand on what happens in the manga, and just giving a visual as to how they were able to coordinate this whole effort so well. OH AND I LOVE THAT THEY FLIP THEIR HATS TO SIGNAL THE COUNTDOWN!!! THAT WHOLE SCENE WAS GLORIOUS

ALSO THE WHOLE SEQUENCE WHEN THEY WERE CLOSING THE SIGILS AND RUNNING FROM THE DRAGON??? PEAKKKK

AND THE SCORE OH MY GOSH ESPECIALLY DURING THE PART WHERE WE GET A PANNING SHOT OF THE UNDERBELLY OF THE DRAGON IS SO GOOOD YUKA KITAMURA YOU COOK ONCE AGAIN AND ALWAYS HAVE

Of course in this episode my favorite scene was Tetia smiling back on her hard work, commentating on how seeing someone else (even if it’s a dragon) find joy in her spell brought unexpected happiness to herself made me cry 🥹 I wish her all the best I literally love her so much 🩷

The amount of hollow purple jokes I know there will be about the scene where Qifrey gets teleported… But aside from that I love the anime’s take on this scene so much, instead of the space warping like in the manga there’s this huge magical blast that creates more urgency and action, along with segueing into the next scene very seamlessly which I really appreciate!

Also I know this is kinda mean but Tartah getting knocked back sounds so funny in the sub

Also what happens to him after Qifrey disappears? Like boy are you okay? I’m assuming he hopefully went back to Nolnoa

Tetia getting yelled at by the other girls for breaking the seal had me literally freaking out, AND DONT EVEN MENTION THE PART WHERE AGOTT GETS LAUNCHED OFF THE PILLAR BY THE DRAGON AND COCO TRIES TO SAVE HER

ALSO CAN I SAY I LOVE THE CREATIVE TAKE TO HAVE THE DRAGON COME UP AND TRY TO EAT AGOTT??? ALL HAND DRAWN BTW LIKE ITS SO CRAZY I KEPT ON REWATCHING THAT PART AND THE PART WHERE QIFREY SWOOPS IN TO SAVE THE DAY CUZ OMG ITS SOOOO SMOOOOOTHHH

little mention but it’s insane how he pulled out and closed the circle of that water dragon spell on HIS ARM like bro wth he’s mogging on all the 3 wise

SPEAKING OF THAT WHOLE ANIMATED SEQUENCE WHERE HE FLIES INTO THE STORM AND BREAKS APART THE CLOUDS WITH HIS SPELL IS INSANE. AND THE SPELL??? OH MY GOSH CHAT IT WAS LIKE I WAS SEEING IN 3D CUZ THAT WAS SO CLEAN

BUT I WILL SAY ALL OF THIS IS SECOND ONLY TO THE PART WHERE LINGUINI MEETS COCO AND THE STYLE CHANGE WITH THE ROUGH LINEART… CHEFS KISS I LOVE THE CREATIVE LIBERTIES TAKEN HERE!!!!

Of course despite all the action and insane animation, what I will forever love about this show and manga is its writing. The fact that after everything cools down and everyone is glad to be safe, Coco still feels guilty and blames herself. Yes it is her fault, but she’s still a kid; and the way that Qifrey as her guardian in the moment doesn’t get mad and instead commends her for her creative thinking because he knows she’s learned her lesson and doesn’t deserve anything harsher after all that they’ve gone through made me so happy I love the writing of teaching/parenting. And him putting her hat on her head… He’s literally her dad I don’t play

The way his interactions with his girls so harshly contrasts his ending statements with Nolnoa… The ED music cutting off made my heart stop like bro stop glaring at that old man like that

I wonder what everyone thinks about Qifrey lol. I feel like either it’s divided by teams he’s a brim hat or that he has a vendetta against the brim hats. Me personally, I feel like he’s just a silly guy :)

I still can’t get over Tartah looking at Qifrey suspiciously bro… I feel so bad I know it’s supposed to be ominous but I can’t help laughing

And Nolnoa’s ending lines… chills

Anyways, kudos to BUGFILMS and the team behind the anime. The wait was so well worth it!!! And please go support the manga as well by Shirahama Kamome!!! Buying the physical copies has been the best decision I’ve ever made

also apologies for not mentioning my goat Richeh much, but her Agott jokes made me so happy I love how early they’re appearing!!

Edit: Just watched the new ep… I knew they weren’t going to interact much bc of the manga but I’m still sad

Also seeing how mean Agott is when animated makes me upset and I know she gets better… But girl needs to lay off Coco’s mom 😭
