When he's sleeping outside and he hears an odd sound and he doesn't have a witcher to protect him he forms the sign quen and it makes him feel a little safer. And when it's too f*cking cold out he fumbles the sign for igni with numb fingers and he feels just a little bit warmer. and maybe it's enough, this memory of geralt, to make him feel a little less alone.
