These long legged friends are commonly known as daddy long legs.but they aren’t the only ones to hold that name. Harvestmen and crane flies are also called daddy long legs. Neither of which are technically spiders.

Cellar spiders while harmless to humans carry the most venom for size out of any other known spider.

Their nests tend to be looser then other spiders, and they tend to prefer darker setting to live as they are nocturnal.

These guys are a always a fright when people see them, despite their big size (5.9-12 inches) they don’t hold any venom harmful to humans.

Some species of huntsman have been spotted eating lizards.

These lil babes are native to North America. They are actually New Hampshires state spider!

Phidippus audax means “bold jumping soider” and is described that way because Nicholas Marcellus Hentz who found the spider said it was "very bold, often jumping on the hand which threatens it".

(I was talking in the car with somebody the other day about tarantulas. She read off info about their hairs/setae to me! So this post is inspired by that conversation ^^)

Urticating hair/setae are a defense mechanism used by spiders, and more often tarantulas! Other creatures like caterpillars and plants have something similar!

They act as whiskers to sense vibrations in the air or things going on around them,they also help spiders grip surfaces.

These lil friends are completely harmless to people, in fact the majority of orb weavers are!

Spiny orb Weaver females are a lot bigger then the males. Only the females get big spikes!
