Well, that was tedious! - (2026)

“You don’t know me, yet.”

The game is to write a flash fic this weekend and post it here (or with a link to the fic on AO3) on Monday with the hashtag Mystrade Monday.

Flash fiction is a complete story that is less than 1,000 words. 360mg is complete fic of 360 words with the last two beginning with “M” and “G” in any order. Please spread the word.

It was a quiet afternoon at Baker Street. John was enjoying a nice, pleasant cuppa.  

Well, it was quiet until the downstairs door slammed.

John turned to the open salon door, listening as the usually quiet curly-haired genius made quite the commotion coming up the stairs.

“Ooooh, someone’s in a right strop…” John took a sip.

When not pissed off at him, most people are so dazzled by Sherlock’s more notable personality and dizzying intellect that few notice John’s quieter, slower, but just as deep smarts.  However, few can match his powers of observation when it comes to deducing the World’s Only Consulting Detective.

Thus, John saw it coming,

This is either going to be really good or really bad… He put his cup down and braced himself.

Sherlock stomped into the flat, his face a mix of anger and horror. He stopped, his hand resting on the knob of the open door.

“Don’t do…”  John started to admonish…

Sherlock looked him dead in the eye and SLAM !

“…it.”  Johnn exhaled as the door rattled the adjoining window.

“Did you know?” Sherlock turned to him accusingly,  “About them…?”

“Them…?” John had an inkling but wanted to be sure.

“You always know about those…” Sherlock waved his hand in annoyance, “…things… first.”

“Ah…” John smiled to himself.  ‘Those… things…’  Relationships. I am right.

“Yes… Though I do not believe either is aware, I do.”

“How could you not warn me‽” Sherlock groaned. “Do you know what it was like? Walking in and seeing that? The two of them, in each other’s arms, so googly eyed they didn’t even know I was there! Granted, they looked happy, and that’s good, but then… Then they… They…”

“They…? ” John prompted. I should not be enjoying this, but I am…

“John… They kissed!” Sherlock sat, a pleased smile on his face despite the whinging.

Sherlock is genuinely moved by this, now that Is surprising…

“Didn’t think you’d care, Donovan and Anderson are together again once he divorced his wife.”

“I DON’T care about them!”

“Then who are you talking about?”

John picked up his tea only to nearly drop it at the answer…

“Mycroft! Greg!”
