ok so like the strangling part the "three mechanisms" are the different types of love that are also the basis for Drifting and being drift compatible.

And the codependency part. it's next to lines about scientists and tattoos and we know newt had kaiju tattoos (but not necessarily why he got those tattoos in the first place whether out of love or admiration of the kaiju or out of remembrance of the violence they inflicted on humanity)

so that section is maybe about the Kaiju dialing up newt's self-destructive aspects (which were already somewhat there as shown by his need to be proven right so he risks his own life to drift with a kaiju brain without asking for help or permission)

Also like. there's the part about telepathy that seems to be about how hard it must have been to prove he was possessed (to the world and/or to himself) and how he was isolated/the only case that happened. It must have seemed unscientific

the precursors took "ownership" of him.

are they and the kaiju partially a metaphor about people or things who enable destructive behavior and tendencies and even exacerbate it so that they have some control over the victim

and it's difficult for the victim to leave because it's something they are passionate about?

the precursors gave newt unwanted mental tattoos

there was an apocalypse directed toward the world but also! of his interpersonal relationships. of his sense of self and control.
