Red hair flashes in his periphery, but he’s only got eyes for the gold.

“Good game, Malfoy,” Ginevra says begrudgingly, handing him a pint. “Don’t look so bloody smug, we’ll get you next time.”

Across the table, Weasley’s mournfully counting galleons. When Draco turns to gloat, Potter’s already looking.

“Well? Aren’t you going to cough up?”

“Nope,” Potter says, popping the ‘p’. What a pest.

“What? But—”

Weasley gives up and dumps the whole sack in front of…Potter.

Draco stares. The knut drops.

“You bet on me?”

Potter smiles like he’s won more than just gold. “Obviously.”
