“You have got to start wearing sunscreen, mate.”
Naim feels Ryan flinch when he touches the angry skin on the back of his shoulders, tight and swollen. There’s a harsh line where his tank top had been moments before, the smattering of freckles disappearing into the painful redness that capped his shoulders.
“Sure ya did,” Naim humours him, “Working out in the sun all day, I’m sure you take the time to think ‘oh yah I’m gonna take the time to put on sunscreen like my boyfriend Naim said to’-”
Ryan spins around, a big smile and a scrunch in his sunburnt nose, “I do. Sometimes.”
“But not today,” Naim finishes for him, shakes his head at him as Ryan’s hands slip under his shirt. A distraction technique, no doubt.
Ryan lazily tilts his head, still smiling like he wasn’t actively increasing his chances of skin cancer, “Not today.”
“Yah,” Naim follows Ryan’s eyeline, letting his own head tilt the same direction, “That’s what I thought. Now we have to take a cold shower together because you couldn’t be bothered-”
“Naim,” Ryan stops him with a hush, pulling Naim closer with his hands spread across cool unburnt skin. He nudges his nose against Naim’s cheek as he breathes, “Shh.”
