An MIT-led study confirms the Antarctic ozone layer is healing as a direct result of global efforts to reduce ozone-depleting substances.
From the article:
A new MIT-led study confirms that the Antarctic ozone layer is healing, as a direct result of global efforts to reduce ozone-depleting substances. Scientists including the MIT team have observed signs of ozone recovery in the past. But the new study is the first to show, with high statistical confidence, that this recovery is due primarily to the reduction of ozone-depleting substances, versus other influences such as natural weather variability or increased greenhouse gas emissions to the stratosphere. “There’s been a lot of qualitative evidence showing that the Antarctic ozone hole is getting better. This is really the first study that has quantified confidence in the recovery of the ozone hole,” says study author Susan Solomon, the Lee and Geraldine Martin Professor of Environmental Studies and Chemistry. “The conclusion is, with 95 percent confidence, it is recovering. Which is awesome. And it shows we can actually solve environmental problems.”
My favorite quote from the article:
“By something like 2035, we might see a year when there’s no ozone hole depletion at all in the Antarctic. And that will be very exciting for me,” she says. “And some of you will see the ozone hole go away completely in your lifetimes. And people did that.”
currently where i am.
In spirit, so am I.

"you hate the rain? how could anyone hate the rain-"
USA Native Plant Resource Masterlist
Because Google is totally useless and won't help you with ANYTHING
iNaturalist: Take photos of living things you see, post them, and the community will identify them for you. Data from iNaturalist is used in scientific research.
Wildflower.org Plant Database: Enter search criteria and find some plants. Very useful if you're looking for plants with specific qualities or know what you have in mind.
Native Plant Finder: This website is still in beta and is a work in progress, but it will show you plants for your area ranked by the number of butterflies that use them for their caterpillars.
WildflowerSearch: AMAZING resource for identification and for learning about new plants. Shows you where plants are native/not native, TONS of search filters.
Native Plant Trust: A New England organization, but probably useful to anyone.
Northern Forest Atlas: Great images and identification resources for trees; has good pictures of bark, seeds, buds, leaves.
FloraFinder: Another plant database site that's being slowly built up by a passionate nerd.
MonarchWatch milkweed by USA ecoregion: Tells you what milkweed species you should plant for monarch butterflies.
Native Beeology: Not plants, but a closely related subject.
I will add more and post an updated list as I find more.
How useful!
Wow, so magical!!
I love all sides of nature. The sunny, the creepy, the springy, the moody, the greenery, the gloomy… it’s all art to me.
Healing plants and herbs

Agrimony - Use as a wash or oil to increase the effectiveness of all forms of healing rituals. Allspice - Use in herbal baths for healing. Almond - Carry, wear, or use as incense to invoke healing energies of deities. Angelica - Use in incense or bath spells for healing. Apple - Cut an apple horizontally (across the middle) to expose the seed pentagram. As you eat it, visualize the seeds as five points of, healing: health, vitality, mental clarity, physical strength, and emotional balance. Barley - Drink barley water to assist with healing and restoration. Bay Leaf - Write a disease, pain, or negative emotion you wish to release on a bay leaf. Safely burn it using a candle, allowing the smoke to carry away the illness. Bayberry - Use Bayberry oil to dress green, white, or blue candles. As the candle burns, visualize it clearing away negative, stagnant energy and restoring health. Carnation - Add dried or fresh carnation petals to bathwater to cleanse negative energy and promote physical, mental, or emotional healing. Chamomile - Add chamomile flowers to a warm bath to cleanse negative energy, relax muscles, and soothe skin. Cotton - Place cotton soaked in healing essential oils (e.g., peppermint, tea tree) inside a sachet to carry with you or place under a pillow to promote recovery. Cucumber - Incorporate cucumber into meals, such as in salads or as part of a nourishing dish, with the specific intent of drawing in, or grounding, healing energy. Dandelion leaf - Dried or fresh leaves can be added to bathwater to cleanse the aura and promote physical healing. They are often used in rituals focused on recovering from illness or boosting overall energy. Eucalyptus - Use dried leaves to stuff healing pillows or sachets. Arrange a ring of dried leaves around a blue candle and burn the candle for healing vibrations. Fennel - Brew fresh fennel fronds into a tea to aid digestion, reduce bloating, and soothe the stomach, acting as a gentle, calming, and restorative tonic. Gardenia - Use dried flowers in healing incenses and mixtures. Garlic - Use in meals with focused intention to aid in healing. Ginseng - Carry the root in a pocket or pouch to maintain good health and ward off evil spirits. Hops - Also used for healing rituals, sachets, and incense. Ivy - Weave fresh, young ivy vines into a wreath. Hang this on the front door to ward off negativity, jealousy, and bad luck that may be causing stress or sickness. Mint - Use dried leaves to stuff a green sachet for healing. Mistletoe - Use in ritual baths or prayer bowls for healing. Peppermint - Add dried peppermint leaves to a bath with Epsom or sea salt for spiritual cleansing and physical renewal. Raspberry leaf - Raspberry leaves are carried (NOT EATEN) by pregnant women to reduce the pain involved in pregnancy & childbirth. Rosehip - Carried and used in healing sachet for good health. Rowan - Use leaves and berries in amulets for healing and promoting psychic powers. Sage - Use in healing sachets & incense. Sandalwood - Use the wood for healing wands. Spearmint - Carry for healing. White willow bark - Place dried white willow bark into a sachet or pouch with other herbs (like lavender or rosemary) to create a charm for physical healing, reducing chronic pain, or enhancing emotional balance.
Please be wary that some of these herbs may be toxic to animals or humans if ingested or handled improperly, take adequate precautions if you have children or animals in your household. Also, this is not the only way to utilize these herbs, just the way I would use them in my own practice. This is not a comprehensive list and I welcome others adding to it should they want to! - Magpie.
I love natural health care.
