He’d been running laps alone, winding down from the day, when he heard them. The commotion was enough to catch his attention, the shout and struggle amongst the trees just within earshot as he passed the outermost edge of the dirt-packed track.
His first thought is to snag an instruction. Let a superior investigate. It would be the proper procedure….but the grounds are otherwise abandoned. Doing so would mean hunting someone down, all the way across the compound.
Erwin slowed his jog to a stop, listening harder for any followup sound. The cackle that followed sounded…something like laughter.
No.
Hanji’s laughter.
Whatever was happening? Hanji Zoe found hilarious. Which didn’t exactly rule out something immanently life-threatening per se. But still.
He’d set off into the trees himself, following the sound. Tracking the commotion becomes infinitely easier once he’s engulfed in the trees, and it isn’t along before Erwin stumbled onto the scene.
"What’s so hilarious, Han—-" He started to call, only to clear the last patch of thicket. Right below their tree.
Oh.
"Ah~!"
The sound was somewhat breathless and very, very raunchy. Hanji had managed to entangled quite terribly with Mike and the awkward grinding was certainly not stopping. It was hard to say from the outside whether or not the larger trainee was actively participating, what with his struggle for purchase.
It certainly looked like something.
The redhead hummed loudly in satisfaction, making sure to tear at a tuft of grass within reach for emphasis. There was no way Mike was getting out of this one without having a lot of explaning to do, and each and every bruise his massive weight had caused would owe to this explanation.
There was very likely a reason that Hanji Zoe hadn’t made many friends.
A third voice entered, and in an instant the situation changed entirely. The train of thought, previously focused entirely on the simple command of get up, now found what was once a single track split into several branching paths. Get up who is it stand up salute explain who is it ignore damn it Zoe.
It was almost frustrating that it was only now, after he was no longer focused entirely on attempting to right himself, that Mike's hand found dirt and didn't slip once he leaned his weight upon it. Now, when a new problem sprang up, and verdant eyes were lifted to determined which track his thoughts would be best to follow.
Mike wasn't used to having to look up to see Erwin, but he honestly wasn't used to looking up in any case. But Erwin. He was familiar -- maybe not closely so -- and he was another trainee. That was a small blessing on its own. Erwin was not an instructor.
Mike huffed, and disappointment crept into the sound as the rush of adrenaline found itself with no honest threat. His weight leaned onto one arm as the frantic need to separate from Hanji was distracted and settled, and balance bred ease as two fingers placed themselves upon Hanji's lips. "Stop that."
