Plotinus seems to claim that it's actually impossible for the body to affect the soul. The body, to Plotinus, is a sort of meat-submarine for navigating the world of matter and nature. However, this meat-submarine has no windows, no radar, and no sonar. It's actually the self, the pilot of the submarine, who uses their innate psychic power to sense the noetic aura of all the various rocks and bones and undersea sand dunes. And most people foolishly think that their submarine has windows.
Your eyes don't even do anything idiot. You are psychically experiencing my noetic aura, and falsely understand that experience as visual information in which I *appear* to be covered in bbq sauce. Idiot hylic.
At the same time, he seems to acknowledge that the senses can feed information to the self. But the medium by which they do this is by affecting this psychic noetic super-sense. Like, you are psychically experiencing the noetic aura of your eyes.
