Oh I'd love recommendations! Here's my list from 2025 and 2026 (all those 4 stars are from last year lol). The last 5-star books I remember reading are Several People are Typing and Catfishing on Catnet. I prefer sci-fi to fantasy or horror but I'll read them all; magical realism goes straight to the trash. Literary fiction, straight to the trash. I really enjoy complex world-building, humor, mindfuck plots, and sci-fi that's based on actual science and technology.

Y'all. The music playing under the credits is fucking Bolero. "Oh yeah I thought it sounded familiar." Yes, it's pretty famous. But it's also infamous. For its INCESSANT REPETITION. The theme doesn't evolve, it just repeats and repeats and gets louder and louder until it all abruptly stops.

Standing ovation to whoever made that choice.

(The rest of the move was fine. Surprisingly evocative of watching a streamer play the game, though I don't know that that's what they were going for.)

hey can we talk about the way the Artemis crew has been protesting this administration?

Like today, saying nothing while Trump was on the phone was BRUTAL. But they've been subtweeting him this whole mission. I've only casually been watching and this is the third example I can think of.

From the launch pad, "We're going for all humanity." Direct repudiation of the xenophobia and racism of the administration. You notice they didn't say "We're going for America."

Around the time of the flyby, one of the men quoted the Bible. This isn't unusual for astronauts. But the part he quoted was where Jesus cites the two most important commandments as love God and *love your neighbor as yourself*. Kind of a weird bit to quote during a moon mission unless you're responding to horrifically infinite treatment of your neighbors.

I believe this is the maximum amount of protest they can really do while keeping it classy, not distracting from the mission, and not jeopardizing their jobs. It doesn't feel like much, especially when the people in charge are too dumb to notice. But as for me, as they say, I copy.

I've really tried to get back into reading novels this year. And at I finish my eighth, I think I see why I got out of the habit: I haven't loved a single one.

None of them were BAD books. They were all fine. Some even had some really good parts. But I wouldn't recommend any of them. It's really frustrating! And of the thirteen I managed last year, I only really liked two (After the Revolution and I'm Starting to Worry About This Black Box of Doom). So I dunno. I don't want to give up on reading, but man, that's a lot of hours to burn on stuff that's just ok.
