Today my partner (NPD) put it very well that HPD (at least for me) isnt an attention seeking disorder or need for sexual attention disorder as much as it's a validation disorder.

A need to be validated at all times. Validated for how you look, being smart, knowing a whole lot. For me, getting negative attention for anything is soulcrushing. However for my partner (NPD) negative and positive attention hold the same weight because they're both attention.

I hope my realization via them helps my fellow HPDers.
