Small Shifts
The first thing that tipped me off was my underwear. As you get bigger, your clothes expand along with you until eventually they don't fit. As a bigger person, I've become accustomed to buying loose clothes that fit despite my weight fluctuations. Underwear though, it's not as forgiving when you lose weight. Underwear shouldn't be flowy. So, now that I'm 50 lbs down, my underwear doesn't fit anymore. And I've "undergrown" three pairs of pants. My body shape, with its lumps and rolls, hasn't changed much. All of them are still there, just less so. It makes it hard to notice the weightloss. Sure, you can see it in my face, but my shape is the same. Underwear doesn't lie though. And neither do the baggy pants. It's exciting. I'm looking forward to "undergrowing" some more pants. In the meantime, I have to go underwear shopping.
One Week Post 30
So, for the first time in 2016 I had pizza. It did not go well. I love pizza but I cannot control my consumption of it. 😔 I'm going to have to try and avoid it. However, a part from that I haven't been eating too bad which is nice. I didn't weigh in this week, instead I gave myself one week of a break and then I'll be back at it next week.
First day post 30
So, today was weird.
I know that I could technically eat anything, but part of me really didn’t want to.
For breakfast, I had eggs. Hahaha. You’d think I’d be so tired of eggs (and in truth, I kind of am) but yet, I had two eggs. I pan-fried some tomatoes and olives and tossed them on top.
For lunch, I had salad. Made my own dressing. All of it was Whole 30 compliant.
Dinner is where I went a little off book. I had a salad, but this one was a packaged one that included tortilla strips and a creamy dressing. I also had breaded soy chicken strips. And a hot coco.
That was a bit of an indulgence, mostly brought on by what time of the month it is. I think I’m going to keep up this salads for lunch trend. And I’ll probably have eggs for breakfast again tomorrow. haha.
Final day! #Whole30 #vegwhole30

Down 50!
Well, 51.4 to be exact. It's been a long road to get here. Last year, I lost 40 lbs and then at the end of the year I gained 23 of it back. Since January I've been working hard to re-lose what I had already lost and more. I'm glad I've finally broke well past that 40 mark and now, past the 50 lbs mark. Many more to go.
26/30
Breakfast: 2 eggs overeasy Salsa Apple Lunch: Salad with spring mix, carrots, cucumbers, roasted brussel sprouts and beets, homemade tahini/oil/vinegar dressing
Dinner: Homemade guacamole over roasted sweet potato cut into medallions topped with sauteed mushroom mix (cremini, shitake, white)
Snack: Almonds, plantains with rest of the guacamole
In terms of exercise, I hit my step goal for the day. That means I hit it on Sunday, Tuesday, Friday and missed it on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The Final Stretch
Did two nights of Aquafit this week - Totally Butts and Guts last night and Bootcamp tonight. Our regular instructor is off, so we had different fill ins at each class. Tonight’s class kicked my butt.
Like, my arms are still hurting almost an hour later.
Food wise, I started to get a little tired of eggs this week so I’ve been trying not to have them for supper. That’s forcing me to get even more creative with my meals. I think that’s been the best part of this Whole 30 challenge - having to get creative with my meals and get out of my ruts.
Today’s breakfast: 2 eggs, overeasy Salsa on top 1/2 mango
Lunch: Spring salad mix Shaved brussel sprouts Carrot matchsticks Hard-boiled egg Cucumber slices
Snack: Cashews and green apple
Dinner: Spaghetti Squash Sauteed broccoli and cashews in sesame oil
Less than a week less !
Down 45 lbs!
Well, here’s some perspective.
Finally set up my TV and Wii in the basement. I’ve been putting off doing it but thought Wii fit might help me get some steps in with my Fitbit and all of these challenges my coworkers have me signed up for.
Anyway, I logged in today for the first time in 2,357 days. I am 22 lbs heavier than my last login. Add to that the 44 lbs I’ve already lost, that means I had at one point gained 66 lbs. That’s insane.
Well, hopefully I’ll never see that number again. I can’t wait to lose those other 22 lbs and then, 22 more.. and 22 more.
Lots to go.

Lunch
Me: I'll have the vegetarian pho; no tofu, no noodles.
Waitress: So just broth and veggies?
Me: Yes, please
Soup and a salad for lunch. #whole30 #vegwhole30
Simple is best
Sometimes, the easiest recipes are the best ones. That was definitely the case with the simple broth soup I made tonight. Broccoli boiled in broth, after letting it simmer for a while I added in some green onions I had sautéed in sesame oil. Delicious! It's definitely my new go-to soup when I'm a feeling a little under the weather - or when I want a whole lot of flavour with little effort.
16/30
I am officially past the half-way mark! I’m doing good.
Last night I prepped for the week by making a golden cauliflower soup and roasting some butternut squash and tossing it in the fridge all diced up.
For supper tonight, I made my own version of a Shakshuka dish. I found a recipe I wanted to try and printed it at work... but left it on the printer at work. So, I decided to just wing it and I was pretty happy with the turnout.
Breakfast: one fried egg and a bowl of cantaloupe and banana cut up.
Lunch: cauliflower soup and left over stirfry from last night
Dinner: Shakshuka (onions, shaved brussel sprouts, artichokes pan fried with diced tomatoes/tomato paste over top and eggs on top) and a big salad with butternut squash, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and cucumber.
I drank like 4 giant mason jars of lemon water today.
Goals for the week
• hit 5,000 steps a day on my FitBit (I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but I've had it a whole week now and haven't hit that mark yet) • prepare lunches for work the night before • drink more lemon water

12/30
It finally happened. I knew it was inevitable, but I didn’t expect the feeling to hit me so suddenly. Because I’m trying to do a true Whole 30 and I’m a vegetarian, that means I can only derive my protein from limited nuts, vegetables that are protein-rich, and lots and lots and lots of eggs.
When I say lots, that’s exactly what I mean: hard-boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, omelettes, etc... I was eating anywhere from 2 to 4 eggs a day; I knew eventually I’d tire of them.
Today was when it happened. I was eating a small breakfast of two hard-boiled eggs and some cucumbers. The first egg went down no problem. And then, halfway through the second egg I just felt repulsed. I put the egg down and had some cucumber instead. Once I finished everything else on the plate, I looked at the half-eaten egg on the plate and felt a little queasy.
For lunch, I had a GIANT bowl of veggie soup with a side of celery and sunflower butter.
On the way home from work, I started thinking about dinner and again, was repulsed by the thought of eggs. So, I stopped at the grocery store and picked up some fresh veggies filled with a new idea for dinner: veggie fajitas.
Instead of tortillas, I used Boston lettuce leaves. I whipped up some fresh guacamole and added some of that to the mix. The left-over guac, I put on some sweet potato rings I baked in the oven. Finally a big dish with no egg in it! My taste sensations rejoiced and I ate everything - four fajita wrap things, all of the guacamole, a whole sweet potato. I was FULL. It’s the first time I’ve felt full-full since starting. I’ve enjoyed the satiated feeling I usually have and getting this full feeling again was a little jolting.
After dinner, I went to a gathering of old friends and was a little nervous about not drinking and not eating and having it be a thing. I brought my own reusable water bottle and drank from it and no one seemed to notice or mind. Anxiety for nothing!
All in all, a great day.
You have to get rid of those pants. They're way too big on you now.... They look like MC Hammer pants
