When People Think They're Managers
At my current job, in an ABA clinic, I was promoted to a management position. We had some people, who were less qualified, that thought they should've been promoted and made their feelings known. One girl in particular has walked around like she's better than everyone since she got there.
When she first started, she never shut up about her boyfriend's job. She also told everyone she already had the required certification when she didn't.
Now, this girl ALWAYS has an attitude and/or a snarky comment about everything. She tells people what to do (usually in a snotty tone). She has major RBF, so she just looks miserable most of the time. During group time, when staff are supposed to engage with their clients, she sits in the back on her phone. And in the evenings when everyone else is helping with closing chores, she doesn't do anything.
I know it's not just me because others in management and other staff have brought up her attitude several times.
Today, my client went to interact with another staff member. RBF girl's client happened to be standing nearby, so she immediately told my client, "leave [client's name] alone." I assured her that he was not bothering her client and was trying to interact with a nearby staff member. She went, "well my client was right there!" Her client was around a corner and my client wasn't even looking at them. I told her to worry about her own client (we're literally not supposed to be redirecting clients we're not with) and went "I am."
Later, while she was taking a bathroom break or something and someone else was watching her kid, they started a conversation with me. When she came back and saw me talking to her client, she rolled her eyes and audibly went "ugh."
