The bitterness and resentment that Alicent and Rhaneyra carry towards each other because of their received higher alliance towards a man, is really coming to surface this season, huh?

It was there when Rhaenyra was yelling at Alicent in episode 3, this anger at Alicent for allegedly still being more loyal to the greens, to Aegon, than Rhaenyra. She’s mad and yelling at Alicent even though it’s clear, like Alicent points out, that she has held up her end of the bargain to the best of her abilities. I mean it has been clear, since season 1, that Rhaenyra had complex feelings about Aegon that included not just his title as first born son but also his title as Alicent’s son.

But Alicent just full-out says it this episode. Of course it’s wrapped in a layer of her trying to manipulate Mysaria so she can save her daughter but there was vulnerability and truth in her argument. Alicent fully says “she chose him long ago.” and it carries that same type of bitterness of resentment that Rhaneyra had in episode 3.

Anyways their beautiful, complicated, tragic relationship was the best book to adaptation change to possibly ever happen.
