I'm just a child. A child's natural place is school, or a s@fe and comfortable place in their room. But my current situation is much worse. My family and I are now inside a tattered truck that offers no protection from the day's heat, nor from the night's cold, and certainly not from the shrapnel of fear that rains down around us, as you can see in the picture.

Every sound of the tent pegs snapping against our flimsy shelters is a reminder of the possibility of reaching us.Our worn-out tent is all we have now, and we desperately need your support to survive. We need basic necessities like food, clean water, and a proper shelter. Ple@se h@lp us,—,I beg you, don't abandon us.

honestly one of my favorite things about fanfic is when you can see the canon influences come out in really subtle ways. like a canon line thats mentioned once as a throwaway is suddenly the entire premise for a fic or it influences the characterization or something. its just so cool to see how people weave their ideas around a source material, especially if its not a detail i'd thought about before

The fantasy of taking everything away from someone and letting them suffer until they agree with you politically out of desperation is the treasured fantasy of incredibly controlling conservative parents who hope that depriving their kids of food and shelter will make them believe in and submit to God (parent's preferred version) and come crawling back as Good Children with Good Beliefs and Good Behaviour. It doesn't suddenly become a good and righteous tactic if you're like "oh but they did it to gay people/atheists/trans kids/girls who aren't modest enough, and those things are fine, and I'm doing it to people who believe something I think is wrong!" The fundamental problem wasn't "wrong target".
