my special interest rears its ugly head whenever I have the chance to make mounts for characters. it’s actually really funny because regular people don’t know what some of this fucking means. (This is for fallout new vegas)

and here’s some I made for my two red dead redemption characters

Still mad about that sons of the forest ending. Absolutely grieving an actual understandable cool conclusion instead of an insane mindfuck (that was obviously strung together because they just wanted to make cool effects and try to do something as equally as crazy as what they did in the first game) (which they DID NOT succeed in). Sure, the first was still “out there” but I absolutely loved the loop effect and you realizing the entire thing was orchestrated. And just the visual of “the red man” is very Ari Aster-esque. It just felt more natural and thought out compared to sons of the forest where every single cutscene had me Confused as Fuck. And not in the cool “oh i wonder what that means” way. Just genuinely “what is HAPPENING.”

And none of the aesthetics made sense. I was hoping AND PRAYING that the crosses and the sigils around the map would actually connect to an underlying cult that was pivotal to the plot—or at least SOMETHING more down to earth. but it seems like they just jammed that stuff in there and looked for an explanation after.

The reason why it pisses me off so much is that there is SO MUCH low hanging fruit with a game like sons of the forest. CANNIBAL CULTS!!! SICKNESS!!! CATHOLIC IMAGERY!!! A SLOW BURN INTO REALIZING MORE AND MORE ABOUT WHY THIS ISLAND IS SO FUCKED UP. A PROGRESSION OF THINGS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE UNTIL THEY REACH A HEAD. AN INSANE CLIMAX THAT TIES BACK TO EVERYTHING YOU’VE EXPERIENCED.

Which, they did all of this. In some way shape or form, they did. But they did it in such a marvel time loop portal way that it’s almost an insult to everything else organic on the island .

How do I word this.

In Sons, It feels like there was no foreplay. They just give you everything from the get go. In The Forest, being in the lab was an insane pivotal moment because everything else up until that point was caves and nothing man made. It was such an insane experience. (not to mention my love for evil labs)

But in Sons, all the bunkers are just that. And they are ALL the same. and you are not restricted from one section of the island to the next. There’s no progression besides the enemies getting harder. But idk. It’s also been a while since I’ve played it.

Dr. Bob notepage I feel like this better explains what he’s got going on. He looks like that because he WANTS to look like that. He used to be normal. Oh yeah also normal unrelated barber smoking a cigarette.
