This week, I’m dedicating my page to missing children.

Their names deserve to stay alive, their stories deserve to be heard, and their families deserve continuous hope. (No images without the parent/guardian's permission). But please feel free to share your loved one

Have you ever had that moment where your child was missing for even five minutes?

That panic… that fear… that helplessness?

Now take that feeling and multiply it by the number of days, weeks, months, or even years that another family has carried that same pain and emptiness—without answers, without closure, without their baby coming home.

This is why we keep their names alive.

This is why we speak up.

This is why we share.

This is why we don’t stop.

Nyleen Kay Marshall — Missing since 1983 from Helena National Forest, Montana. Letters from alleged abductor surfaced; still missing.

Bianca Lebron — Missing since 2001 from Bridgeport, CT. Left school saying she was going to the mall; never returned.

Jennifer Kesse — Missing since 2006 from Orlando, FL. Car found; case remains unsolved.

Jodi Huisentruit — Missing since 1995 from Mason City, Iowa. News anchor vanished on her way to work. (Inference based on long‑term missing lists; widely documented but not in search results.)

Maura Murray — Missing since 2004 from Haverhill, NH. Car crash, then vanished. (Inference based on long‑term missing lists; widely documented.)

Tara Calico — Missing since 1988 from Belen, NM. Polaroid photo surfaced; still missing. (Inference based on long‑term missing lists; widely documented.)

Bryce Laspisa — Missing since 2013 from Castaic, CA. Car found overturned; no trace of him. (Inference based on long‑term missing lists; widely documented.)

Kiplyn Davis — Missing since 1995 from Spanish Fork, Utah. Multiple suspects questioned; still missing. (Inference based on long‑term missing lists; widely documented.)

Gang violence ain’t just bodies dropping and sirens screaming. It’s trauma deep, generational trauma — that hits families harder than anybody in the streets ever admits.

Every time a young person gets unalived, a whole family gets sentenced to a lifetime of pain. No justice. No closure. Just grief that sits in their chest like a brick.

Mothers who cry in silence because the world expects them to be strong. Fathers who walk around numb because they were raised to swallow their pain. Siblings who lose their best friend and their sense of safety in the same night. Grandparents who pray harder but sleep less.

This pain is real. And it never leaves.

The Senseless Cycle

Let’s stop pretending this makes sense. It doesn’t.

Young people dying over:

blocks they don’t own

colors they didn’t choose

beef they inherited

pride that was never worth a life

And then some Yn’s, gang members, and drill rappers go straight to the studio and make a song about it. Like it’s a badge. Like it’s a trophy. Like it’s something to brag about.

Not realizing they’re basically handing the system a confession. Not realizing the same track they think makes them “real” is the same track detectives play in court. Not realizing they’re building evidence against themselves. Not realizing they’re giving someone a reason to end them or worse, end someone they love.

Because when you brag about violence, you don’t just put a target on your back. You put it on your family’s back too.

The Families Left Behind

The streets move fast. Grief doesn’t.

Families are left with:

empty chairs at dinner

hoodies that still smell like them

birthdays that don’t feel right

holidays that hit different

silence that feels louder than gunshots

Trauma sits in the walls of the home. Every knock feels like bad news. Every siren feels like a flashback. Every memory hurts.

This is the part nobody raps about. This is the part nobody posts. This is the part nobody wants to face.

The Retaliation Trap

Here’s the harsh truth: When the system shows no justice, the streets try to make their own.

Family members, friends, even opps — they go out and retaliate because they feel like nobody else will. Because the courts move slow. Because cases get cold. Because witnesses disappear. Because justice feels like a rumor, not a reality.

So the streets take it into their own hands. One loss becomes two. Two becomes four. Four becomes a whole neighborhood grieving.

And the cycle keeps spinning:

someone gets killed

someone retaliates

someone else retaliates

another family breaks

another mother cries

another mural goes up

another RIP shirt gets printed

Nobody wins. Everybody loses. And the trauma spreads like wildfire.

The Kids Who Pay the Price

The part that hurts the most? The kids.

Kids left without:

a father who was trying to change

a mother who was holding the family together

an older brother who protected them

a sister who kept the house laughing

Kids who grow up with trauma before they even know the word. Kids who learn fear before they learn math. Kids who see funerals before they see graduation. Kids who inherit pain they never asked for.

The streets don’t talk about them. But they’re the ones who pay the highest price.

The Harsh Truth

Gang violence doesn’t make anybody powerful. It doesn’t make anybody respected. It doesn’t make anybody feared.

It makes:

orphans

widows

broken families

trauma that lasts generations

And the streets? They move on. But the families never do.

The Call for Change

This isn’t about preaching. This isn’t about judging. This is about truth.

We’re losing too many young people to a cycle that doesn’t give anything back. We’re losing too many families to grief that never heals. We’re losing too many futures to choices made in seconds.

Something has to shift. Something has to break. Something has to wake these kids up before they become another mural, another headline, another memory.

Because behind every “rest in peace” is a family that never will.

I am truly excited and deeply appreciative of everyone who has stepped up to support our event. A HUGE THANK YOU to John’s Incredible Pizza for their generosity. I also want to extend my respect and gratitude to all the other community partners who continue to show up and help.

Every family can’t make every Back2School event — sometimes it’s simply because it’s not in their area. But the more communities we support, the more families we reach, and the more children receive what they need.

Families across our communities are carrying burdens most people never see. Behind the school drop-offs, rushed mornings, and daily routines, parents and caregivers are fighting battles that extend far beyond their front doors. Whether in single-parent or two-parent households, the pressure has become relentless, and the effects are showing up in our children, our neighborhoods, and our collective well-being.

HonorMyRise was created for moments like these. Our Back2School event is more than a community gathering; it is a lifeline. It is a powerful reminder that support is not charity; it is prevention.

The Reality Families Are Facing Today

Economic instability is no longer a temporary setback. For millions of families, it has become a daily struggle. Rising rents, grocery prices, transportation, and childcare costs have pushed households to the breaking point. Even two-parent homes with full-time jobs are barely keeping up.

Government shutdowns, layoffs, and unpredictable job markets add layers of fear and uncertainty. When income suddenly stops, stability collapses: routines vanish, emotional safety erodes, and parents face impossible choices: rent or groceries, utilities or gas.

These pressures do not stay contained. They ripple into every part of family life.

How Stress Impacts Children

Children absorb this weight even when they cannot name it. It appears in their behavior, confidence, academic performance, and ability to regulate emotions. When parents are overwhelmed, children lose their anchor and begin carrying adult-sized worries in small bodies.

This is exactly why community support matters. It breaks the cycle before it becomes generational.

When the Pressure Turns Dangerous

The hardest truth is this: when the weight becomes unbearable, some parents reach a breaking point.

Not because they don’t love their children.

Not because they are “bad parents.”

But because they are drowning.

Extreme stress can distort judgment, exhaust coping skills, and create crushing isolation. In those moments, hope can disappear sometimes leading to tragic outcomes like self-harm or harm to children.

We must speak about this openly, compassionately, and without shame. Silence does not protect families. Support does.

Community Support Is Prevention

Events like HonorMyRise’s Back2School initiative are not small gestures. They are stabilizers. They reduce financial and emotional strain, restore dignity, and remind families they are not alone.

A backpack filled with supplies is more than school gear.

It is one less burden.

One less worry.

One more proof that someone cares.

Community support reduces parental stress, boosts children’s confidence, prevents crises, strengthens families, and restores hope. This is why HonorMyRise exists to stand in the gap where families are breaking.

Families Are Not Failing — They Are Overloaded

We must change the narrative.

Parents are not failing.

They are being crushed by systems that were never designed to support them.

When communities step in, families rise.

I learned to kill before I learned to cry; somebody taught me silence or you die. That little girl who screams won't see the dawn, so I swallowed every sound and carried on. God, if You can hear me through my sin, I never chose the darkness I live in. I was eight years old when evil showed its face, and nobody came running to that place. I called for help; silence was my answer, so I became the cure and not the cancer. I became the thing that makes the shadows shake, the footsteps every other monster fears to make. I made peace with blood upon my hands; I built a throne on hell's abandoned lands. I slept just fine beneath a guilty sky; I didn't lose a single night of sleep. Not I. But children, God. She's hunting children now, and something broke beneath my ribs somehow. A part of me I thought had long been killed just opened my eyes, and it was filled with every scream I swallowed as a child, with every tear I choked to keep me wild. I do not pray for mercy or for grace. I lost the right to stand before your face. But I will pray for them, the ones too small. The ones who press their backs against the wall, The ones still learning, not every hand's a fist. The ones whose names are on her hunting list. I'll pray the only way these hands know how, with steady aim and one unbroken vow. That anyone who preys upon the young will meet the justice never given, never sung. To little girls like me who had no shield, who learned to be a weapon just to heal. So, call me what I am; I've earned each name. Monster. Weapon. Ghost without a flame. But even devils draw a line somewhere, and mine was always drawn with children's prayers. So here I kneel, a predator in the night, not asking to be saved or shown the light.
