The humour was welcomed in these troubled times, at least, even if it did not actually help anything other than lift spirits for a moment. Her attention turned once more to the map that separated them, her mind turning once more to worry and concern; no matter where she looked on that map, there was some obstacle to be overcome.

“One day… I’m going to come in here and look at this map and hear good things. Not for a while, it would seem. Thedas seemed determined to keep sinking into trouble.” Exhaling a sigh, Namaya was frustrated with it all. It seemed as though for all their efforts, not a whole lot really changed. Shaking her head, Namaya looked up from the map to Cullen, giving a brief smile. “Screw this. I’m going to the tavern for a drink. You coming?”

A drink? She must’ve been joking. He had plans: detailed plans, with maps and notes in the margins. The number of letters to address was ridiculous, yes, but who else would attend to them? He can hear Josephine’s nagging in his ear now. Nobles awaiting payment, refugee camps to stock, hungry children...years of being a Chantry boy, and yet he still cannot accept that some things are not in his direct control. Maybe a break was necessary. A long breath.

cullen’s opinion on mages / the circle is extremely near-sighted until the happenings of inquisition. he believes what he knows, what he’s seen, and what he’s been told. he truly believes the circle is the best thing for mages (to keep them + their power safe), but he understands the issues of the current system.
