Tenna is a CRT television. Seeing as the game takes place around 202X, he would've been outdated even before Dess’ disappearance as CRT TVs were starting to go out of fashion as far as the 2000s I believe? (I don't know, I'm not a TV expert but that's the closest timeframe I could find. Someone can correct me on this one.) For someone like Tenna, you'd need to have a reason why you should be kept when there are other, better TVs than you. So Tenna works hard but even that couldn't be enough. Sometimes you just need a little help to stay on top. So he asks his partner for help! If he can also be a Big Shot then he wouldn't have to worry about being thrown away but Spamton leaves and everything spirals from then.

The only reason Tenna wasn't thrown away is most likely because he held sentimental value. If that's lost then he's nothing to the Dreemurs. It makes sense why he constantly keeps reminding Kris of better times because if the Dreemurs stopped caring about the past then he loses his value. What else does he have to offer when other models can do it better?

A common misconception is that Tenna has a big Ego but it's actually the opposite. Tenna doesn't hold himself in high value because he knows he's just an outdated TV in the Light World. It doesn't matter how powerful or mighty he is in the Dark World because he could lose it all for something that isn't even his fault in the Light World. The reason why he puts such a high value on himself is to convince everyone, even himself, that he's worth their time. If he can convince everyone he's on top of the World then they won't have a reason to leave.
