“So sweet!!!”

   “Did ya? Maybe we can set up a baseball game one of these days!!! I’ll see if I can convince someone I know to play too!” Aka she just wants to throw the ball straight to Alfred’s face when she pitches. “Just put in your number in so we can make plans!” Emily took out her phone from her back pocket, slowing down her walk, and handed it to him when it unlocked.

“Oh and definitely send me pictures of ya wearing the nice shirt! I like people wearing uniforms. They look like way nicer that way!” Or suits, or just anything better than regular casual wear. She’s all about class, at least for the people she likes.

“That sounds like a great idea! I think I know a few people who could play too, if we ever need more.” Allen was all over this idea. He’d also maybe have to get a time where just the two of them lay. Like a date. “Yeah! Sounds good.” He had to keep himself from sounding way too giddy when he took her phone. After putting in his number, he put as many baseball emoji’s beside his name as he could. Because that’s cool.

“N-No, you didn’t miss it. Emily lives here, most of the time. Sometimes she doesn’t come back from work, but I still don’t get to sleep in my bed or else she kill him…I’m not super sure when she’s coming back….would you like to come on up? It’s pretty cold outside, and it wouldn’t be good if we woke up the neighbors.”

He pulls on a bathrobe and goes down to let him in.

Arlo stared at the bar, surely they Rats pulled in enough money on a daily basis to repair this, right? … Right? He just had to think of a good scheme to wrangle some money in and it would be all good.

“Do you know if any of our members- … What the hell are you goin’ on about?” His gaze went to Allen and this boy was clearly anywhere but here. “You caught on cloud nine or what?”

“I met such a great person today!” He defiantly was stuck somewhere on cloud nine. 

Well now wasn’t this a good way to start off the day. Being complimented right off the bat? A good day indeed.

No you can’t. “Now that’s being a gentleman! I like a guy who knows he can!!”

   “Ya do sports? I was my school’s softball captain and I did play baseball a lot whenever I had the time.” Volleyball was her thing during middle school but hoo boy, softball did help with her anger issues. Kickboxing too… Actually, no wonder she was constantly on the brink of failing all her classes. She was too busy with sports to even study half the time. 

  “Ya serve drinks? That’s cute! Bet you have those like really fancy looking uniforms. Y’know in the movies ‘n stuff.” And animes, but she’s not going to reveal herself as a weeb this easily.

  “I sure will! He’d probably like it if people around are like you, y’know?”

Totally. “You’ve got yourself a guy here who defiantly knows he can.”

Allen’s face absolutely lit up at the word baseball. This was just becoming too true to be real, he almost felt like he needed to pinch himself. “I play baseball too! Played on the school team when I could, and I still play it now!”

“Nothing too fancy when serving, maybe a nicer shirt and my jacket, but that’s about it.” He had one nice shirt and it was just for doing that job. Maybe if Emily asked he would show it too her. Or more like will.

Baeoo tentatively slides open the window to his apartment. It’s like 3am in the morning. He has class at 7. Existence is pain for a college student at this hour in the morning before a class. And there happens to be a man with a boombox outside of his window playing sum sixk tunes. 

“Uhh, uhm…You, don’t have to stop if you don’t want to…but could you maybe turn down the volume…?”

“Hey Em- Wait.” That wasn’t Emily sticking her head out.

   And thus Allen has dug his own grave, probably. “Awww, at least you’re confident you can protect me! I like that!!”

     “That’s true!!! Would have seem cool to have like.. battle scars and stuff though! Like I know I got a few… from like, y’know, high school stuff.  But I’m glad you’re good now.” Doesn’t sound fishy at all! Allen be glad she’s kind of dumb and won’t fact check. “Ooo, do you actually work in the bar though?”

   “Mmm, if only my pa lived here he would be useful!! Sucks though.”

Probably, but it was for a good cause. “More than just confidence, I can do it!” Probably not.

“No battle scars yet, unfortunately. At least from this job so far. Got some stuff from school myself, and sports.” Allen is glad. And glad he picked an injury that doesn’t show after a few days. “I do! Mostly serve drinks when I do actual bar work there and not having to worry about leader stuff.”

  You sure about that? “Mhm!! Pretty sure Alfie-boy would pummel you, or something.” Whatever, he can probably handle her brother. Alfred was pretty much a loser compared to everyone.

  “I’m glad you’re fine now though!! Can’t even imagine someone like ya all bruised up!” I mean she can but it’d be kind of funny. “Hopefully it didn’t mess with business that much for you guys, would have honestly sucked even worse!” Now she’s wondering who threw the bomb.. they sound extra and fun.

   “Oooooh, can’t say I’m a carpenter at all. Can only really just do like.. basic IKEA furniture reassemble shit.. Followin’ the instructions and all.“

“Sounds like it’s completely worth the risk I think.” Whoever she was talking about couldn’t be that bad anyways.

“I look as good as new now. Can’t really tell that I ever got bombed!” That’s cause that never happened Allen. That’s why you look so good. “Surprisingly it didn’t stop a lot of business. Still had a lot of people come in.”

     Allen are you truly prepared? You two just met! “Alright!! Don’t want ya having to deal with my older brothers! They can be scary when something happens to me!” Loud ‘oofs’ from the distance.

  “….Holy shit? I hope this was a while ago ‘cause I can’t imagine seein’ ya really hurt!!” Knows how whiny them boys get when hurt. Complain like there is no tomorrow, that’s for sure. “Dude? Oh geez, why was that happening to the bar?? Did someone try attack the Rats?”

   Seriously strange. Barely arrived to the city and already she’s getting the juicy drama.

   “Damn though… Y’all need help cleaning that up or y’all got it?”

Allen is, don’t question it. “Good thing then I won’t let anything happen to you!”

“It was a little bit ago now. So I’m alright now. No bruises, or scratches now.” Allen would probably wine, or cry. Or maybe even both. “Someone made someone else attack our headquarters. Person brought bombs and everything! Lost a lot of alcohol that day.”

     “If you’re suuuuureee! Never been drunk so I’ll trust you to keep me safe!” Or others safe since Emily is a goddamn mess. Allen you might get a few bruises.

   “Blown up? What happened, y’all okay?” Not here for the first event so she really had no idea what happened during that time. But!! Hey, she’s actually getting a bit worried about Allen because why the hell did the club get blown up? “You aren’t hurt anywhere, right?”

   Cue leaning close all worried.

“I’m totally sure! With me there you’ll be safe!” He’s prepared. He’s prepared for anything and everything from her, if it means being with her.

“Thankfully I am. Got a few bruises and I was in a bit of a safer spot, so I got lucky. The dude who tried to blow up the bar got beat up more than any of us Rats.” Allen was very much not there and was very much not injured. But he was really enjoying this attention, so maybe a small fib wouldn’t hurt currently. 

    “Oh my god!! Allen that’s so nice of ya! Are you sure that’s fine though?” Hoo boy, 18 year old with alcohol? Allen don’t let her do this, she’ll have no restrain. She’s probably one of those wild drunks that get on tables and start causing drama.

 “Really don’t want ya getting in trouble!! Even if you are in the rats.” Even if he is Vice Leader. Though not gonna lie, she kind of really wants to know more about the ~mysterious~ rats. “Like y’all probably got some important stuff happening and that’d just be a burden!!”

  “It’s only fair though! But fine, fine, I guess you don’t want aaaalll my attention.”

“It’s totally fine! I’ll cover everything there, so no need for you to worry about anything.” Too late, Allen was already doing it. And with no regrets.

“A few things I can say with out any trouble. There’s not much going on for us right now. Mostly fixing up the bar since it kinda got blown up. Not that it’s stopped from having people come.”

Arlo and Allen had agreed to clean up the Mouse Trap Club. Properly and officially, and not just cleaning up the bare minimum to let others still come in and party. And it was a good chance for them to talk and catch up on what ever the hell.

Arlo looked at the bar and saw the scuffs and chips thanks to the grenade used by Samiri. He huffed,

And he was largely ignore what Arlo had to say. 

[ He went back to his happy neutral self. ] Dinnae worry about it.

[ Scratching his chin. ] Yeah, probably. Jus’ a pain in the arse to clean up. But that was the point I guess.

   Prays for people to bring in a New York, a California and a Texas just so he can witness the true power of the Jones family and horrible nicknames. Prayer circle for Allen mayhaps.

  Oh Allen, so close to saying that. Would she actually do it? Probably.

  “I see, I see! Confidentiality, gotcha!” Winks because that’s what you should always do. “Moustrap bar? Never been there but like is it 21 and over only cause.. Not gonna lie, I just graduated high school! Kind of don’t have the cash to even get a fake either.” It’s called she immediately ran straight to Port City to find Alfred.

  “Hey!! If you can try make me swoon why can’t I do the same?” Grabs his arm and leans on him as if to make a point. “It’s not fair if I’m the only one being all flustered!”

Pray for Allen indeed.

“If you stick with me there you’ll be fine. They know who I am there so no troubles getting us a few drinks!” Allen himself was a year underage, but that didn’t stop him. Especially now that he was vice leader. “No need for fake I.D’s or anything of the such.”
