you learn something new everyday. unless you're a historian. then you learn something old
im all here for the deep symbolism and meaning in katniss and peeta finding each other and choosing each other over and over again and i could talk about how narratively important their love is until the cows come home but the more times i re-read the hunger games series the more im just like. damn. she was so obsessed with him.
baby girl had one insane interaction with this boy five years ago and she never stopped thinking about it. she stared at his face so long and so intensely that she started wondering about the logistics of his eyelash length. he told the whole world on national television that they got fake married and real pregnant and she thought it was sexy. girl was crazy in love and she's so real for that.
Katniss, whose whole life became public, constantly being recorded and analyzed, tries to gatekeep as much information as she can.
Haymitch, whose story got changed, manipulated without him knowing, tries to tell us as much of the truth as he can.
platonically staring at his eyelashes, as one does. catching fire is fun and i love katniss very much

When you are posting on tumblr, do not add your commentary to the text of the post, in case others disagree with you and the original poster may come and say to you, "Make your own post," and then you will be in disgrace. But when you post, add your commentary to the tags, so that when the original poster sees them, they may say to you, ‘Friend, do not hide this in the tags'; then you will be honored in the presence of all who blog with you.
they just casually dropped the best episode of asoiaf of the last 10 years on a random friday night. in case anyone's interested.

if you weren't shipping reilly and jonesy in 2016 don't talk to me about heated rivalry
stranger things finale was not “good” and in many ways not “satisfying” for many of the beloved “characters” . however after watching the entirety of the 15th season of supernatural live and witnessing what was perhaps the worst anyone’s ever done it (ending a tv show) i think that most of stranger things ended in a way that 1. made sense for its characters in the established season up to that point 2. felt very heartfelt despite the bad bad writing. i am so beyond unbothered by will’s 2 second epilogue boyfriend in fact i think it’s awesome he got over his straight crush. the worst part by far was how they ended el’s story it all feels very hollow. and kali. however again it could be worse there could have been a vampire juggalo barn incident and a rusty nail and — well there were some party city wigs — and two discrete versions of carry on wayward son — well the use of purple rain was honestly similarly fumbled i will not lie — well anyway what i’m saying is sometimes something is cliche and trite and that’s okay except for when you remember misogyny bleeds through the cracks of our media landscape and we cannot escape. but honey that’s what fan fiction is for.
getting queerbaited by stranger things is like losing chess to a dog
“greatest queerbait of the century” baby it’s not even the greatest queerbait of the month

Sunrise on the Reaping:
Thank I hate it. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that strips its main character completely of everything we ever knew about him and all of his agency. Not once does Haymitch have an original thought in this whole book and everything feels so artificial.
He literally has no agency. His girlfriend is the one that suggested everything he should do. Plutarch and Beetee are the ones that come up with and make the entire “destroy the arena” subplot that yeah does absolutely nothing. It just makes Haymitch look subservient to everyone else around him for the entire book. All of his accomplishment and intelligence are stripped from him because this book makes it obvious that Haymitch never came up with his own ideas, just followed what other people said like a sheep.
And the epilogue? It’s genuinely disgusting to see a character that had so much development and personality be reduced to a man that is internally trapped to one person who (despite being long dead) we’re meant to believe has driven all his actions and not once did Haymitch actually do something for himself? We couldn’t just let Haymitch be his own person who has let go of his grief and built a new life where he cares for Peeta and Katniss? Nope, he’s talking about ghosts of a girl from more than 25+ years ago that’s reduced him to just doing what she wanted.
And we’re supposed to just what? Believe that Haymitch was able to not only forgive but also team up with Plutarch again after what happened to him?
This is why prequels never work properly. They often misalign the character, diminishing that characters personality or overall being, and they leave massive plot holes. Like the fact that Haymitch somehow wasn’t instantly targeted and killed for blowing up the water tank and trying to wreck the arena? Why even include a subplot like that when we know Snow has killed people for less and that was less than halfway into the games.
What about anything in this series so far possibly have you the impression that Haymitch had a single ounce of autonomy over his life?? Did we read the same series.
