First post! - Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland
Well, here's my first post here on this blog! Hope I make a good first impression XP
So the first game I'll be playing on this blog is Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland. I played a lot of Kirby games growing up, but I was a 2010s kid instead of a 2000s kid, so I only really started playing the older Kirby games somewhat recently :P
Alright, here's the title screen. If Nintendo ever asks how I'm getting clean screenshots, just tell them I'm using a capture card faha XD
I did take about 70 screenshots this session but I think Tumblr only lets you use 30 images per blog post, so I'll only be using a select amount of them (Though it's a bit of a pain to upload since I have to first upscale the screenshot, otherwise it looks bad on the blog, thank goodness for Piskel XP)
Anyways level 1 time :P I do like how the level names in Kirby are usually alliterative (they even spell out words in some of the games)
Though I'm just realizing as I write this that they should probably be called worlds, not levels, I dunno what HAL was thinking when they named them that XD
Sometimes I wonder if Beam was meant to be the mascot ability originally before they made Sword into that. I know Beam was usually the first ability you got in the first few games, and Beam Kirby was on the box art for Kirby Super Star, and Sword didn't start consistently showing up until Amazing Mirror (but then again neither did Beam so maybe that's a moot point :P)
It kinda reminds me of how I think Clefairy was originally gonna be the mascot of Pokémon before the anime happened and Pikachu became the actual mascot. I dunno though, this is all just a theory I have anyways XP
Ooo I think I remember there being a secret right under that block there, you can tell because there's a bit of a shadow there.
Ouch :c I think I'm supposed to enter that shadow like a door, NOT fall into the bottomless pit below XD
There we go, UFO's a really rare ability, you can only get it in secret rooms like this one. Though I don't play this game religiously like Cat Petterz or Dragon Blazers, so I don't know off the top of my head where every one of these are XP
You know, I kinda wish this ability was in more games, it's a pretty fun ability to use. Though, I guess that would make it not as special of an ability, would it?
Oh cheese, I wasn't expecting that fireball, hopefully I can get that ability back in time!
Dang it, it's gone :c Oh well, I was near the end of the level anyways, and you lose that ability after finishing a level, so it's not that big of a deal.
Alright, I did some Bomb Rally and got some extra lives, time for the second level! I think Fire's an alright ability, though it's pretty limited in the older games, before it got merged with Burning.
Cutter's a fun ability I think. Though like Fire, it's way better in the later games, especially starting in Return to Dream Land, where you can charge up a big boomerang XP

I'll be saving this ability for a good moment to use...
Darn, I can't get this tomato. Oh well, I don't need it THAT much anyways XP
Alright, stage complete! Onto level 3 now. It's a bit of a pain to go through the levels without losing my ability though, I have to fly over half the stage XP
And I lost the ability, darn :c Maybe next time I should just use Crash when I get it instead of hoarding it for a better moment XP
I beat the level though, and now I get to use Sword! I think this is one of the better abilities in this game, though there isn't much competition when all the abilities are so limited XP
Alright, new ability time! I dunno why, but I like Freeze a lot, it just feels like a really powerful ability, you turn all nearby enemies into ice and you get to kick them into other enemies, it's pretty strong faha!
To be honest, I feel kinda bad for the enemies here. I know it's just a video game, but... they just feel kinda... defenseless I guess? Like um, what are they gonna do to stop me from freezing them all?
I mean, if I was in their shoes I'd be... well, I'd be terrified faha XD
Umm... where was I again?
Oh yeah, I beat the level, so I guess it's time to move on to the boss stage!
Alright Whispy Woods, time for a little bit of ice action!
Oh wow he's um... not putting up much of a fight, huh? His apples can't even hurt me since I freeze them before they can reach me XP
I know he's the first boss so of course he'd be easy, but I just feel kinda bad for him now, maybe I should switch off of Freeze and use a different ability
But yeah anyways I beat the first world! I think I'll call it here for today's blog post though, I'm reaching the image limit for this post and I think I should do one world per blog post, that would be nice I think :P
Anyways um, I dunno how to sign off for these things so I guess I'll see you guys in the next blog post? Faha XD
