SO REAL. I'm so sick off of the chubby/plus-size reader being used only for the smut aspect specially because i personally don't like smut and i have yet to see someone else who writes a chubby/plus-size reader whos personality doesn't revolve around being a plus size person.

I'm glad you asked!! You can mention and not make everything about it, depending on what kind of a character you give to the reader,
For angst (the things i'll be listing are unhealthy coping mechanisms, please please please confide in your loved ones and/or a professional if you're struggling♡)
Turn to food when they're in need of comfort,
Reject food when they're out with people or under stress(etc. You can expand on this and the one above)
eat unhealthy things because they can't afford things that they should be eating
make buying sprees dreading because plus size clothes are rarer to find and are usually not even well made
Make comparisions inside their mind or by other people (dont straight up compare the weight, go for how they(another character) do 'more' or some sports so maybe they should do a bit more even tho they're doing more than avarage, make them notice how fast the food is eaten by others, how other lovers exchange clothes, how other people shiver when they don't, how others still have space to fit when they don't, how others dress more nicely than they do, how others seem to fit in without trying just because they fit a standart etc etc. Basically put yourself in that situation and create issues you think would make you wanna dissapear because thats how society treats plus size people- they want them to dissapear.)
For fluff/character devolopement or whatever else it could be called
Whenever they go out give them an amazing experience in shopping(or when dressing up) because they're a fashionista and instead of being sad and trying to fit into clothes they make the clothes fit them and give a fabulous fashion statement
Make them stronger!! Plus size people generally due to heavier mass can handle weights better and are harder to push off
(Again depending on the character) make them intimidating to others (this can be used as negative or positive depending on how you wish to make the reader handle it)
Make them less affected by the cold!
Make them have better stamina, (if you eish to than mention muscles too) and flexibilty because remember THERE ARE sports and prefrences that requires that fat
Make them lend their clothes to their s/o when it's cold and make them boast about how the cold never has bothered them
Make them not be afraid of taking space and use it as an authoritive way OR in an elegant disney princess type thing if you get what i mean??
Describe them like how a painter would their muse in those medievel paintings
Make them cook their s/o's dish with a twist they'll like because they know enough about food to know what would make it even better
Make them use the things seen as negative USEFULL anywhere such as in their work field, passion project, hobby etc.
Also you can just imagine reader as Lady Dimitrescu from resident evil village (8) to get that unapologic vibe
All of this is coming from my own experiences(writing and irl), being plus-size doesn't always equate to unhealty or sad or depressed some of us just prefers OR needs that for each of our own situation it differs i shouldn't ne explaining why if you're just a little aware of your surroundings
USE IT, we all are writers with creativity that ended us up in here- it shouldn't be that hard to think out of the box the western society forced upon us
